Just wondering if there were any plans to bring back Karaoke Nights or other (similar) radio events? Some of the very best times I've had here have been on the episode streams and Karaoke nights (I know the former is out of the question now).

The last few times we tried karaoke nights we always had a very small amount of people submitting songs to use for such an event. Last time we tried, we postponed the due date 3 times and even then we still didn't have enough for a decent karaoke night. Organizing such a thing is easy enough, but we need people to submit songs. If no one is interested in singing, then there's no karaoke night...

This is the kind of thing that I would like to participate in but I have no talent/opportunity to record. It would be nice to have another but only we can can get enough people who can participate.

I think if enough people got involved, a karaoke night would be great. I loved doing those, and it'd be nice to have some fun with them again.

Talent is not needed, it's just for fun, I think that needs to be recognised. My voice is goddawful, but I know that if I recorded something for the radio, people aren't mean enough here to be offensive, and it's not meant to be taken seriously. If the song is sung well, then that's just a bonus!

I also saw a lot of people last time saying they don't have the tools.

Hint: Audacity is a free downloadable program where you can add a song to one track, then record your singing over the top with one button press. Simple as that. I'd recommend finding the instrumental to the song though, so that the actual singing doesn't interfere.

My biggest issue is waiting for a moment when someone's not in the house, or around, but that isn't too hard to overcome, they have to go out eventually.

Come on guys, don't be party pooper butts.

I see... That makes sense, the average viewer count is considerably less than it was back then too.
So I can see why perhaps Karaoke Nights don't have the level of appeal they used to - it would be nice to see them and an increase in radio activity again though.

Weekly roleplaying nights seems to be where it's at nowadays. I suppose we could try karaoke nights or something similar again, but i doubt it'll be a very big success.

Seems like people are moving off the radio and into the chat. The weekly EPRP along with random tomfoolery definately shows appeal to me. Who knows, mayhaps all these members who haven't had the delight (or horror) to see one of these would be willing to revive it.

Also, another fun thing to do would be to make the members themselves more involved than they already are. End the show with a bunch of members in Skype reading an MLP script? I'd pay to see that.

I'm surprised none of the radio staff are paying attention to this thread.

    Not me! ;)

    I know, right?
It may be due to the fact that most radio people don't go on the forums very much. This is an uncommon thing for me to do (at this moment, at least). The community on the radio is very different from the forum people (or at least, I think it is).

I think some of the ideas that had been thrown around for the radio got lost in the shuffle way back when we had a lot of moderator and admin changes. I know that karaoke nights were still being discussed, but we weren't getting the number of entries needed to properly run it. I wonder if we could maybe have a time where a Skype chat (or if someone would be willing to loan out their Teamspeak) gets organized, and everyone gets to do live singing that way. The issue there is figuring out a way to balance music and your singing through a mic, and making sure others involved in the call don't interrupt.

As for the comment about getting people together to read a MLP script, I remember the idea of getting people to read appropriate fanfics over the radio. Would people still be interested in that?

    Paying attention =/= posting.

Yes, Karaoke was a bit in the pan after the most recent night couldn't happen due to lack of entries. I'm currently thinking of an idea called "Bounty does stuff" which happened one night; consisting of me doing a how-to and lifestyle type of thing.
    Baking, cooking etc.

It would be like Merri's Madhouse, but with Bounty. I'd be up for watching that.

    All of this.

also, I made a thread a while back about different ideas for making the radio and forums more of a togetherness than before. The thread died shortly after without much happening (expect I think it helped with EPRP and the community group (which that's kinda dead right now too)). Something that is currently big in the forums COULD be turned into something for a radio night or something. We could have forum members actively discuss a topic they all were in or something like that. Short roleplays over the radio and that would be ridiculous and funny, because we all know how hilarious RP's can get- especially EPRP, god that's entertaining xD. Something like a good old Floxy night would be awesome too. The radio really only gets attention on saturdays from Foxy and others playing games, then the rest of the time it's just music, we have the SC for that! More variety would be awesome.

I still want the readings of fanfictions too, and reading MLP scripts sound amazing! I vote these in.
