I am useless. totally no pony seems to be wanting anything I make. hence things I make are uesless by exteniosn i am useless (Im not actally in a pit of self pity that, that will kick in in round 3 hours when I try to sleep) So yer now that I am uesless I will most likly leave everypony where my useless is know about and try elsewhere. (oh here it comes 3hrs early) Ok fuller story: I'm a programmer While back I started work on an IRC bot in python named angelicBunny (you know angel bunny cus he a bit of a **** and well if this thing was programmed so it would kick misbehavers anyway) Now angelic just had a overhaul And is now ready for testing! Great Idea lets go get all teh ponies that ENJOYED having ANGELIC IN the IRC chat before playing spin the bottle. for my troubles I am now banned for teh live stream but no that I can take. i think Its the reason "Any of your scripts" ANY IM A PROGRAMMER I PROGRAM thats like asking alllevelsatonce to stop making music so yer as It is now clear I am not wanted goodbye PS I fed angelic so badly it dosent know its own name but knows how to hate.

I am morally obligated to slap sense into you, but I can't over the internet. Can you lend be a two way ticket to wherever you live, give you your address, and stay here while I fly over the pond to belt you one for being depressed and all? Now man up and stop caring that one particular person (albeit in a seat of power) happens to not like python enough to ban you for it. Just who the hell do you think you are? Get mad! Demand to see Flash's Manager!... Wait... Eh, dunno for how long the ban is, but you can always try to talk sense with the DJs. Or Grey, if all else fails. Anways, if all else fails, you can always not talk about the stuff publicly. If it reaches that point, EPRDev chat might need a life of it's own =/ [EDIT BECAUSE OF RELEVANT NINJA] Here is the situation, as I see it: Ripp was contributing to the stream before this, in the form of the chromeless player, which may or may not have resulted in the stream being taken down. Then, after this, for reasons of paranoia, safety, or whatever, he was prevented from writing programs for the stream. Now, after RP Chat was taken down and replaced by an IRC chat which lacked some of the features of the original, Ripp used his old project (the IRC Bot), to replace said functionality, as the bot did nothing but listen to the chat and respond to commands such as !roll and !bottle. Not to mention the fact that this idea was upheld by the public, the program does nothing that was not there before, does not alter the chat in any way (it is external relative to it), and does not offend anyone THAT I KNOW OF. It is also not related to the stream. I see no reason for Ripp to have been banned for discussing something that is, for all intents and purposes, unrelated to the stream. If no one listens, Ripp probably won't talk about it. However people clearly do listen. If the talk annoys someone, then let's not hide behind other reasons and call this what it is. </rant>
Playing with my words there, I see. I never said you're not wanted, I told you to stop advertising your scripts on the forums and radio because we have no use for them here. We're not a programming forum. We (as in "almost every single DJ") have told you not to advertise on the stream or the forums. Yet you did. And once again like many others who got banned, you're playing the victim, which will not improve your reputation in any way, especially not towards the DJs/Mods. You should take testyal as an example who was once in the same position as you are now. Yet he has improved a lot and is pretty liked by most of the staff including myself. If everyone would just follow the rules instead of repeatedly breaking them, how nice and harmonic would the site be... This post alone would be reason enough to ban you right away. It's just plain childish, immature and pointless. Looks like my manager is on my side.
Why leave, Ripp_? You are, most definitely, wanted here! Nobody hates you... and I'm sure noone thinks your program is useless, either. There is no reason, to put yourself down about such a thing... Please don't go, though!
Viper already posted most of this, but here's something a little more neutral if you'd prefer it. Ripp, try to see things from OUR perspective. We've repeatedly warned you about linking things you've programmed on the site, ESPECIALLY on the radio chat. We're very much aware you like to program things. We appreciate this, and we don't make it our business to tell you what you do in your spare time. If you want to program things, do it to your hearts content, we're happy for you. But things change when you link what you've made onto the website. This, essentially, becomes advertising, and unless it was asked for, you've been told not to do it regarding the things you make. Now if someone did ask for it, and you have a screenshot of it, then obviously we've made a mistake, we'll put our hooves up and say 'we dun goofed'. If someone else has a screenshot, or at least 3 reliable ponies can say it was asked for, again, 'we dun goofed'. Otherwise, all I can say is you have been warned. We'd be very sad to see you go, and the praise thread proves that you will be missed if you do. There's nothing personal in this Ripp. We're just doing our jobs and I hope you can understand that.
Admitedly, after edited in rant, I have other things to add, that are better put in a seperate post. I fail to see how linking a program you made is a bannable advertisement. In that case, we might as well ban Virgil and Testyal for linking art that they made. It is, too, something they made on their spare time, for the purpose of amusement. In one case, the format is a virtual canvas, in the other, a few lines of text, both of which make a product meant to be shown to others. I, personally, see no difference. Another quick edit. I do hate double posting so... A common tactic used by many patrons of the internet, when quoting, is to completely skew the meaning of the quote by omitting words, such as negatives or specific refferals such as names. Not to say that a honored gentleman/mod such as Flash would do so, but I learned long ago to not trust edited, non specific (eg. "him") quotes, regardless of source. Call me a paranoid hypocrite, but I just have to say that.
See, what happened Dan is that he linked the said bot to the chat in the stream, therefore making it related. We've told him time and again not to link things he has programmed in the stream, and today he has broken that rule. Therefore he has been banned for 24 hours. Unlike Virgil and Test, who's artwork is pony related, often requested and they almost ALWAYS ask before they can post that stuff. Ripp, however, is posting things non-related to ponies without request. In addition to this, he has now made a thread in the forums not only complaining, but openly claiming that one of the DJs hate him, and in response he programmed his bot to hate Flash. This does nothing to help the situation, and as Viper has said, only makes the problem worse as it muddies the issue in getting others involved who do not know all the details. No, this isn't a random lashing out. Yes, this is related to the stream. Yes, he has been warned multiple times in the past. And as community manager, I heavily, HEAVILY discourage these threads. They lower the mood of the entire community when issues like this can be solved with a PM directly to me and/or Grey Nightmare. Please, in future, remember that I'm here to help, and I'll take every case objectively!
I'm sorry if I'm being stupid, but I agree with foxy. This isn't the place where you go and cry. This is EXACTLY the opposite of that. Everypony is supposed to celebrate a wonderful and friendly show that has inspired us all. Please don't post any more "I hate my life!!!" threads. I want to see everypony happy, but that's not happening with these threads. That was stupid. Sorry
I agree, with DanSze. But if it's not allowed on the chat, there isn't much to do about it other than wait... I don't think anybody would mind if you made a thread about your programs here, though. Or you could talk to a mod, and try to show him/her your side of the problem, and try to find some way to post your programs. Still, I'd reccomend saying sorry to the mods... they seem a bit exasperated about all this as well. I hope you've changed your mind about leaving, though... everyone would miss you.
Ripp_ just because this happened dont mean you need to leave, there are many things here you can do whit friends........well, yes you are a programer and you like.... program XD, but thats not the only thing to do here. please dont feel rejected, nopony here want you to leave
I see two problems with the above statements. Three even. First is that I have no memory of Virgil or Testyal ever asking to post their art. Virgil I understand, of course, since most of the time someone asks him to post the work, but I remember no such thing with Testy. Second, the statements are contradictory. The first claims that he is posting things that are not related. The second, that it is related. I think the problem is obvious. Thirdly, the fact that posting something in the stream makes it related to the stream. I find this just... strange. This means that literaly everything is related to the stream, as it has, at some point, been mentioned in it. An analagous situation would be saying that putting a newt in a box of gold makes the newt a gold coin, and therefore legal tender. Or, in a more realistic, and closer to home, scenario, this means that if I post some sort of gory pic in the hug thread, it makes said pic related to hugs. Now, although yes, this is a statement of some sort of "hate", actually taking Ripp's statement about his despise of Flash seriously is somewhat silly. If I have any idea how Ripp thinks (which i may or may not have), he probably thinks along the same lines as I do on this issue, that he was banned, essentially, because Flash did not like his 'style' or some such nonsense. As such, the hate is most likely a spur of the moment thing, and not really any sort of bad feeling towards said DJ. As for making a bot hate a person, that's just silly in the very concept. This means he would have to have the bot recognize Flash when he shows up on the IRC, and then take some sort of meaningful action based on that, which is posting some sort of message. The bot can hate Flash just about as much as a picture can, which is to say not at all, since it has no emotion. [EDIT AGAIN... and again on second thought.] Well, I can't argue with a full quote, so eh. I also somehow think that if we're trying to go for rehabilitation, this thread is counter productive. Not that I'm against being devil's advocate about the whole thing, but still.
