I think we generally came to the consensus that you're only a furry if you identify as such.

There's just a very wide variety of what somebody could consider themselves a furry of because of the generalized definition.

AS it was stated before liking something and being a part of something are two different things. there are bronies who've only seen an episode or two but have been exposed to the fandom and decided to take a part in it, doesn't mean they particularly like the show but! picked interest on the fandom that surrounds it.

Well, it's better to ask a dumb question and learn something than not asking and not learning.
(Or whatever. English is a pretty stupid language.)

The 'furry' label has been distorted, courtesy of the media, and it really depends on the individual. I've read about the lifestylers, to which there were only vague examples of, and that's weird to me. But like most slightly weird things, it's just whatever to me. Furries have been around forever.

Furries are supposed to be people interested in the anthropomorphic animals. What that means to you will probably differ from the next. Bronies don't identify as furries because most don't view ponies as furry creatures, despite the technicalities. Often times most aren't really into furry stuff as it is and their interests remain in just the pony fandom. And, of course, the universally dark light in which furries are generally seen tends to be offputting.

I don't openly identify as a furry because of the skewed definition and my limited interaction, but furry artwork got me to start appreciating quality artwork. With that said, I'm not a part of the fandom and I don't actively check artwork that much these days, but I follow a few artists whose work I enjoy.

As I say about all harmless, controversial interests, weird or otherwise, "It's just a thing."

With what I read from the last few pages. I see that Aynine got the word down right "Anthropomorphic animals" Saying anthropomorphic only just opens the door to everything that can be humanized. Not saying everyone is wrong but narrowleaf then asked about anthro robots. Which doesn't seem to fit in the furry fandom unless it had the word animal in it.

I still say bronies are furries but all furries aren't bronies.

To me a Brony is a sub-category of furry. I see no reason why it's such an issue. After all its just a label given to a group

I was gone for 3 months, that would be the reason why.

As for agreeing, I find it easy to do when it's such a simple thing.

Let's face it guys. If you look at pony art, anthro or not, you're a furry/sub-category.. It's just as simple as that, in truth.

Now, we all have our deepest and darkest places on our computers known as the 'R34 Folder' (Except me, teehee) so I'm not going to shout out any potential candidates here. It just makes you a sub-category, and that's alrighty. Not like having that label is a bad thing. (Well, it can be, but labels are silly, and you shouldn't take them seriously unless you want to.)

The label is only as bad as the majority twist it. When the majority says furries get it on with animals that's what people believe. Plus when they do get a group outed like that it is easy to justify their hate for it no matter how misplaced it is. I can see why bronies are scared to be in that group, it doesn't have a good ring about it. Bronies do get all uppity when they are lumped in though. Still don't see why.

    AS for R34.

LOL I don't have any, nope, none at all. Not something like -- ----. LOL I keep it hidden in -- ----- --------- where no one can find it.

So you're saying that because I look at My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop fan art that automatically makes me a furry even though I have no interest or desire to dress up in a fur animal suit?

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Also not all furries own or even wish to get into fursuits. Me being one of them. That seems to be the thing you are caught up on right now based on your post.

Yeah, there are furries who are weirded out by fursuits...

    Also, I don't have an R34 folder hidden. I'm 27. I need no explanation.

I'm not weirded out. I like them, I think they are awesome. I just don't wanna wear them.

Also, my folder is hidden to protect others. It could melt faces.

I've been a 'Sonic the Hedgehog' fan for as long as I can remember.
I guess that makes me a part of the 'furry' fandom.
Still... why do we need to put labels on everything?

Because with out labels it might be a might be harder to hate. labels are an easy way for hate to be directed.

So does liking and watching both MLP FiM and LPS also automatically make me a furry or it looking at fan art the only requirement besides wearing suits which like I said before I have no interest in wearing fur suits?
