    Except it does.

None of my arguments faced rebuttal.
    Therefore they all still stand.

Personally, I don't see how philosophy will ever be an out-dated practice, I find moral philosophy particularly interesting in this day and age.

Ahem, gentlemen, if I may? One last post before I go away?
Here's my answer: I was kidding in case you couldn't tell. I like to try to argue for another side when there is no other there to argue for that side, it is my way of testings one's responses to opposition they don't expect.

    And with that, I'm gone!

I was born as a Baptist and was a firm believer in Christ. Around 2008, after my grandmother died and I was at my most depressed state, I became both an Atheist and a Nihilist, in June 2010, I became a Catholic and was baptized, confessed and confirm to Catholicism, and was pretty content as a Catholic, but April of this year (2012), I became an Agnostic Anti-theist. I doubt that god exists, and if he does exist, he isn't really a benevolent god, the bible itself gives many examples of god's malevolence. I do have an interest in Neo-Paganism and Divination (which Christians hate and consider 'witchcraft'). I am often consider as an Occultist cause of my fixation with darkness, Studying of the Occult, me liking Aliester Crowley, my Cutie Mark is "The Cross of Confusion" AKA "The Cross of Questioning" which some consider an Occultic/Satanic symbol, but is actually an Agnostic symbol used by the Romans to question the validity of Christ/Christianity, I know a lot of the Occult symbols and their origin. Although I don't care for Christianity, I do prefer Catholicism to the Protestant version. And if I leave Agnosticism, or don't become a Pagan and become a Christian, I will return to Catholicism.

    It seems that this thread
Has been dead. (poem of the day)

I've just read through the whole thing. I personally am struggling with my faith (a protestant Christian), and I have a couple questions. First, though, I would like to point out a highlight of this thread.

This is amazing. This explains that (assuming there is a God) why he doesn't simply "fix the world." He wants people to live full lives, not be free will-less puppets!
Perhaps, if there is a God, then he wants people to grow and have a relationship with Him, a personal one. If we didn't have free will, then we couldn't choose to love.

    Alright, now for some questions:

Assuming that the world was made from the big bang, or that we were made by abiogenesis, I might assume that we are just atoms specially arranged into a certain form that it may function in an orderly manner, like a computer.
Yet, why do we have free will?
Why do I have this feeling of consciousness?
    I think, therefore I am?

The only conclusion that I have is that there is a God, who gave it to us.
    What do you guys think?

Religion holds the world back. I'm not saying it should be gone, but it should not be what is running governments and countries. With religion even the simplest problem becomes a mountain. Like gay marriage, shouldn't be a problem, but nope religion has to hold everyone back.

If I may I'd like to ask a question.

Has anyone here ever had god speak to them? Which ever god, I'm not really picky.

To understand God you must first understand the infinity of the multiverse.

To understand evil you must grasp the concept of nothing in a world without boundries.

I see the sense in this, as we humans are but a ripple, a temporarily occurance, in the sea of infinity that can be called 'God', or 'the multiverse'.

This requires further explanation. Also, what makes you even think there is such a thing as evil? Isn't this concept invented by humans?

Maybe I should clarify. For everthing that exist there must be an opposite, the opposite of God or existence is unexistence, to grasp the concept of the Antigod, or Satan, you must understand how it is possible for something not to exist in an endless multiverse. Granted that the Antigod only is evil if God is good, which is not guaranteed.

You mean like parallel to ours. if it exist there could be any number of things there. There is no proof of any other universes existence. I see it as something interesting to ponder and I'll leave it at that.

Evil is nonexistent, we made it up. Humans created an thing to stop themselves from dying. If it is believed that hitler is really evil, why is that? Because he killed? What makes killing bad? Is it the taking of a life, and if so, why is that wrong?

The Joker is a great example or Bill from Rampage.

Right, everything needs an opposite in order to exist. Light needs darkness, yin needs yan, consciousness needs subconscious, existence needs unexistence etc.

But why should this other pole be branded as 'evil', as something that 'shouldn't be'? If I'm not mistaken, this idea was initiated when mono-theistic religions made their rise in our world.

But the universe always needs this 'other side' in order to maintain existence, and to create dynamic and challenging situations for itself. Right?

If God is the universe, I'd say both light and darkness, existence and unexistence are part of it. Otherwise it couldn't exist. "The whole universe is about two opposites who are really one." As Alan Watts puts it.

ED: Oh wait, I remember hearing somewhere that 'nothing' aka 'non-existence' is something you get when the two poles are unified. Like matter and dark matter are basically torn apart 'nothingness'.
So if God is existence aka polarity, maybe this 'nothing', the absence of polarity, could be branded as something seperate from God. Now I'm confuzzled, pls halp Prince Darkmoon.

Yeah, you are right, evil is a point of view. Both parts of the polarity thinks the other is evil, but is really just law and chaos. Though, which is which I can not say.

I can't help you with the other thing, it is confusing by it's very nature.

To sum up my beliefs nowdays. Faith is power and reality is subjective, truth and existence are just perception. The inspired make the universe what they want it to be. I know this makes no sense, that is the point, reality makes no sense.
