so a fan decided to make their oc so important without them there would be no such thing as a snowflake, despite it existing already, she added a few decals, suddenly the princess and everypony love her? that short just went on and on. I dont know if im supposed to be sad about it or something, I just feel indifferent towards it, and a little "say wut" that it seems to be popular with people. Of dcourse others can enjoy it they want, Im not gonna tell other what to do, just my opinion.
A Mary Sue implies it doesn't make sense or is just totally giving traits to an OC regardless of how powerful they are. In the animation Snowdrop's story is explained, and quite believably well, there's a reason why she has all these traits. Some people just make OCs which are bland recolours of the main six/princesses and say they're related to main characters, now that's a Mary Sue because it isn't explained, it's just shoved in there to sound cool even though it doesn't make sense. The person made the animation not to showcase their OC, but show off their art skills and storytelling.
I also think my perception is coloured by all the fanart i keep seeing of her and luna being best buds, coupled with now of ALL the people luna has known, this one filly she always remembers?
how is decorating a snowflake sad? yes decorating, it wass shown the already existed, she just made those patterns in them..
no, go on, I honestly want you to explain to me whats so riveting about it, I honestly just find it as indifferent as looking through a list of fanfics. Though I will go and admit the animation was top notch, very well done for the artist.
Good idea mate. Oh ya, ChocolateChip, Snowdrop may or may not be someone's OC originally, but she has become a rather popular original fanon character due to the short she appeared in. In the short both princesses have a soft spot for her, but she has a lot in common with Luna because their counterparts are loved more than they are. Snowdrop however, believes that winter should be given just as much love as summer, just as Night (Luna) should be given just as much love as the day (Celestia). Given this similarity, fans of the short have taken it upon themselves to portray Luna and Snowdrop best friends, so it's basically fanon of a fanon. And if you watch the short in its entirerty, you'll see that the snowflakes that Snowdrop made magically change winter from fierce blizzards to peaceful snowfall, that way winter can be loved and enjoyed by ponies in the same way that summer is. Or something like that, it's been awhile since I watched it. Anyway, long and the short of it - it's a rather cute but very sad short that somebody made and a lot of people really liked.
