Of course. Here at Everypony, we do like to show love and tolerance to all our members, and Ripp's banning was unfortunate in that he was never really a 'bad' pony, he just seemed misguided. Unfortunately, he broke the rules one too many times and forced our hand. I know Ripp was very much appreciated here, and I'm sorry for having to do this. I will speak to the other mods/DJs and ask them if we could let him come back in a few months, after making sure he's learned his lesson.
I really hate to say this, but he may not want to come back after a few months, or ever for that matter. He might just hold onto his grudge. It sounds like he was really upset, albeit for reasons I just can't comprehend. I can't say I knew him very well, or at all, but he seemed like a good enough guy. This whole situation just seems...unreal, somehow. I'm not mad, just...sad. I'm not naive enough to think everything is going to be perfect forever, especially on the internet. To be honest, I think the fact that it happened here is why I'm reacting this way. Goodbye, Ripp_. I'm sorry.
Hate to burst your bubble guys, but It will eventually happen again... There are those who do not respect the rules for what they are, and some who just don't know them enough. Ignorance is not an excuse, and breaking them when you know they exist is even worse.
Okay I think it is my turn to comment on this situation. Let me give you a further insight into the story behind this all. As most of you know, Ripp has been programming several applications related to everypony.com and/or EPR. One of which was his custom player. During the development if this player, several comments were made on his side, some of which set us DJs/Mods on alert. One of those comments was, that everypony who clicked the link to Ripp's custom player would get their IP adress logged. While this does not seem like anything serious for most ponies, I as a networking technican, know what one might do with one's IP, and do not like the idea. Another statement that he repeated multiple times was, that he could, with his scripts, make the DJs obsolete. You can imagine how we did not react positively to this. We asked him not to make such statements, yet he did. A few days aftet we introduced his custom player, the livestream channel that hosted EPR, was taken down by livestream.com for ToS violation. This may or may not have been related to the fact that the custom player did not show ads for some of us. (Livestream, sadly, did not reply to us on this topic) After we worked through several nights, to get EPR back up, we removed any custom scripts and asked everypony not to post any custom scripts or programs related to everypony.com or EPR on the forums or radio chat (includibg RP chat) yet Ripp did it again. After we warned him not do that, several times he was banned for 24 hours. After this ban, things got quiet for a while, untill he linked his custom IRC bot on the radio chat, which lead to another 24 hours ban. As described by Foxy, he then opened up a thread in which he was actively playing the victim, much like most other banned ponies do. After a brief discussion, this thread was closed. He then decided, as also pointed out in Foxy's post, to send me the following message: I redirected this message to our admins Grey and Derpy, who, in agreement with the DJs banned him permanently from the everypony network. I will be honest, I cannot say that I particularly liked Ripp, but neither did I dislike him really. That said, I am sad that it had to end like this but in the end, we're doing our job and everyone has their part in this forum, even if it is just holding on to the rules, you all accepted when you joined this awesome community, and I'm very happy that almost everypony here does so. As for a possible second chance: I would never deny anypony a new start, as long as they learned from their mistakes and are willing to better themselves. This counts for Ripp just as much as anypony else. I think that should give you all enough insight into what exactly happened and why. I wish you all a good night and hope that this was the first and last permaban we had to issue here in the forums and on the radio. ~ Flash (sent from my phone so bear with me regarding typos and such)
Well thanks for the explanation. (Didn't tl;dr that time.) :derpe: Also explains why there are some typos.
