Amazing Spiderman 2 is shaping up to be a great movie, and as an avid Spidey fan ( I own digital copies of the original 40 issue) I am looking forward to it. Marc Webb, you finally get Spideys costume right, you had his personality right from square one. But you [frick] up ELECTRO!?

General Chat Thread 3: Give him a pony! Let me sum up the problem here though. It's not 616 Electro. I know what you're about to say "Electro looked ridiculous in the 616 continuity." Yes, while that is true. It's the mindset of people who forget they are supposed to make it look NOT ridiculous. That's my problem with Nolan. When I heard Bane was going to be in Dark Knight Rises. I thought Bane would've been the macho giant he was in the comics. Instead Nolan had to make him "realistic". I have no problem making the movie not based on a story arc from the comics. It just bothers me how much of the movie adaptation people want to make different from the comics. Wasn't that the magical thing about the first Spiderman. It felt like I was watching Spiderman. The suit wasn't made black or replaced for a leather one. It was Spidey's costume, and they made it work! Not only that, but it wasn't the "dark as a dungeon" approach that Warner Bros is trying, FOR SUPERMAN! What did we all love about Avengers? The fact that it actually respected it's source material. The thing that brought most people (including me) into Amazing Spiderman (movie) was the fact that Spidey had the attitude he had in the comics. That was the greatest part about the movie. And if ALL OF THIS isn't enough let's look at Earth 616's Electro Remove the plating on the mask and he would be good to go.
I agree with you about Electro. I love his original look more. However, some things just look a bit too ridiculous on screen. Did you see Bane in one of the old Batman films? He looked a lot more faithful to his comic book version but uh....yeah, it was bad, imo. Makes me worry about the Guardians of the Galaxy movie they're filming....I just don't know what to expect from Rocket Racoon. >.>
I think 616 electro is ok, im just saying this seems to be more based on the ultimate marvel electro. Check yourself before I correct yourself.
Most likely they'll involve some special effects for his actual appearance in the movie. But to be honest, I see more of a Michael Morbius in that guy the way he looks now.
