Art is about giving shape to things from your inner emotional world. The greatest artworks derive from anger, bitterness or sadness. ANY emotion can work. Creating something you're proud of can make you feel good. But being an artist isn't about WHAT you create. It's about the fact THAT you create. If the act of creating doesn't bring you any sense of joy, relief or satisfaction, then don't call yourself an artist. But if it does bring you any kind of therapeutic or satisfactory value, no matter the endresult or what other people think, you'll be a great artist. Because art, in it's most primeval form, is a the sheer joy of creating something... anything... that comes from within. Be it a painting, a poem or a pony. Art is really a very selfish thing, you do it for no one but yourself. If you make art just because you want other people to like it, you're no artist but an entertainer. Well then, turn that anger into art!

Realize you can't draw -> Stop Drawing -> You can't get better if you don't draw -> Start drawing -> Repeat.
My relationship with art is a strange one... People say I'm pretty good at it, I just think I'm ok at it. I start wanting to draw something then don't, then one night just randomly start drawing without even thinking about it...And once I went a few months without drawing anything and somehow got better...
I've noticed a big part of visual art is how well we perceive reality. Over time we take more and more in and as we do we naturally get better at depicting life visually.
I was about to go scan something, so I glanced at that arrow in the corner that marks the origin of the scanner bed. And this is what I saw. My obsession with this band is getting ridiculous. I think I need help. D:
General Chat Thread 3: Dating Weaboos!? Of course creating something you're proud of feels good. And of course it's about the fact that you create. But what happens when that thing you create pisses you off. As for the creating to impress others thing. 99% of artist are actually trying to impress people. Why else would they put it online or on display. And if you're a artist being paid, you live off impressing people. Not much else to say in response. It's all just hollow words that everyone says. Oh wait. As for the "use the rage" Yeah. People seem to do that with vent art. I never understood that. I tried it once and not surprisingly it just fueled the anger.
I shared a pic on Facebook that wasn't flattering toward religious people, and I have an extremely religious family.
