So, after the events of the old EP skype room (which was neglected, and turned sour), some members who loved the room before the chaos decided to make a new room similar to the old room. After mods talking about the want for the new room, they have decided to revive the Skype room through this new room. We have mods in it, so don't fret! rules of EP will be kept there, and we have ways to see deleted messages, so we'll know if something wrong happens... *glances around* Like I said, we have mods in there. Currently, Tyro, GreatAndPowerfulTrixie, Isaac, and myself are all mods. And by EP rules, we mean all of them. No clop, Gore, or swearing is allowed in the room. There will probably be little to no RPing in the chat either. Severe bans from the room will carry over to EP as well. If you want to join the room, be sure to PM either myself or GreatAndPowerfulTrixie on the site or by skype, and include your skype name. My skype username is Flutteryshy (don't forget the extra y, or you'll never find me). We hope that users from every part of the site will enjoy the room and have fun! ^Yep pretty much. I think it's stupid and waste of time/resources for mods but that's just me I guess.
I dunno. I like the idea of an EP Skype room. We seem to have plenty of moderators at the moment, so I don't think it'll be a problem. Besides, having a skype chat makes communication much easier. If you want to talk to a specific person, you'll get an alert every time they come on. Speaking of which, it's always handy to have alerts in general because without them, it leaves me constantly needed to keep a pop out chat open to keep an eye on a dead chat, just in case somebody shows up and I ain't around.
I like Skype, it's easier to use than the forum chat. HOWEVER. I have limited access to Skype. Therefore it is pointless for me, because the only times I have access to Skype are when I have no actual free time, only enough time to quick reply to people.
I'M HERE WHAT DID I MISS Well, I saw a need for a new one so bam. EP skype was reborn. It has a much better skype pic if I do say so myself! I almost want to think of special things we can do with the group like skype calls, movie night, and other things. It shall be fun to experiment and try some new things if we can get everyone to agree and be happy. EDIT: Also, I am a bit late on this thread but I finally had time today to visit and post around the forums a bit. It's nice. I've missed the place.
My issues with it are that this is now a third chat thing that is in existence. The first being the GCT, that's all it is. It's a big and slow chat. The second is the actually EP chat, which if I remember correctly was talked about as a replacement to the GCT. And now a skype room. Is that nessersary? Also you guys said that full EP rules apply. Now I'm not sure about you and contacts but sometimes the status and profile pics break EP rules. If people have something like that in the official skype room will it be punished. What about things like RPing, it's already said that people shouldn't RP in the general chat. But see as there is only one skype room would RPing be allowed. I know fluttery said there would probably be no RPing, but I've seen them. Those RPers can RP in anything. Even with you being notified of them being online, do you need a chat room for that. You'd see them be on without the room and you'd still be able to talk to them. Just my thoughts, not like it will stop the existence of the room, I just like sharing.
Well, I mean, I'm not trying to down anyone's ideas or lift myself up but I think the more opportunities we have to share with each other as a community, the better. Because some people, including myself, don't always have time to stop by EP all the time yet we still want to be a part of the community. Skype is remarkable in the fact that you can always have it running in the background and connect with anyone at anytime, within a few short seconds. I think it allows us that are too busy or maybe don't even like a forum setting and prefer a faster pace kind of thing that they can access instantly. Another thing I've noticed is it almost builds a kind of separate community away from the website. The problem with the old one was it was so far isolated from the main site. I really wish for more of the moderators here to become a bigger part of the EP skype community to keep everything nice and connected. After being a part of the old chatroom (and I was for almost a year), I can say without a doubt that these are one of the finest group of bronies I have had the pleasure hanging with. It would be a shame if we were to see it go. However, I think I will leave that up to the site staff. I am happy with whatever decision they make. I do think what we could have on skype is an RP room branching off from the main one if people so desire but that should be the extent.
