But the community is here, even things like the radio and forum are separate. Some people even hang out in the EP chat only and maybe post once a year. This is just another thing that would seem to be a separator. Internet windows are remarkable because they can be open in the background too. In fact I have several things running in the background. It's not a massive feat. You want faster pace then just use the EP chat, that's why it was created in the first place. Now I will say I don't care for the existence of the room. The issue I have is wasting staff resources and the like there. Does that not seem unnecessary? Why does there need to be an "EP skype community". I would prefer it that the mods were to show up to this part of the community then some skype room.
My thoughts exactly. You can even login to the EP chat separately and click Popout button. And making a separate community treads into VIPish territory. It's no doubt that the forums are falling downhill, repair the foundation not tack on wasteful additions. Each to their own I suppose, it's not a decision I would have made; but one thing to me is certain, the Skype room won't last. They always fill up and will become too exhaustive to manage.
Doesn't make sense though to have all of your friends concentrated in one place instead of having two different things to deal with? Skype organizes everything nice and neat. None of this silly fumbling around with windows. The fact is that there is one and I don't believe anyone should deny us of the right to have one and continue to nourish the one that is there. Especially you who has never even been a part of it. Heck, I don't even know if you use skype. =\ Anyone can join. Heck, we could even invite new, trusted people through skype and grow the community even more. There are so many ways this can go. Let's not pass this off as "just another addition" but as a new experiment. An experiment to grow the site and to try to include more and more members in the beauty that this site offers. We need to stretch far and think creatively. I think that me and fluttery can make this work. If we spice it up with events I think we will have an even greater chance at success.
So then why include EP. It seems you like the idea of skype over EP. Why limit yourself with the rules of this place. And skype kinda counts as a window, you do have to pull it up. Deny you the right? You misunderstand me, have the room. I just believe calling it the official EP Skype room is silly. Having the EP rules in it is silly. Also as mike mentioned it could be seen as a VIPish group, you yourself said it was pretty much members that rarely use the site as is. If it is the case that things can be created as a extension of EP, why are the Youtube and tumblr side not being brought up. They're at least at the top of the page for all to see. And as for me, I do use skype. I should be someplace under my name. Did you even look?
What I'm saying is, you can have all off your friends in one place. I don't just have brony friends. I have non-brony friends as well. I want to everything to be all organized whenever I am sorting contacts. Though, I may be the weird one in saying that. Well, perhaps we need to pull all of these things together and make order out of chaos? I think we can do it. I've seen EP do much more challenging things. I also want to point out that there are people who frequent the forums as well on EP skype. It really lets everyone connect together. The forum goers and the non forum goers. And I apologize about not seeing your icon. I have the spring skin on still and it is very bright.
Everything you said can be done with a non-official room of your EP friends, which I'm sure many of exist. *shrugs* I'll shut up about it now, but I haven't exactly been convinced as why this is a need.
Well, it's not like we NEED a youtube. Or NEED a radio. We do these things to enhance the experience of the website and to extend the website to get the site more known or give more pleasure to the members. I mean really, that's how I see it c:
Then why drag EP into it? Are you're not EP friends gonna be brought in. If not then that isn't really an issue. The radio and forum have been around the longest and even they aren't together yet. Do you really believe a chat on a separate thing will be able to manage it where the radio failed. Well isn't the main part of EP the forum. If they aren't a forum goer then why limit your room to EP's rules. Don't worry about overlooking my icon. I'm more then used to people looking over me.
It's nothing new though. Anyone on the site can make a room and invite their EP friends. This is what is going to happen except with EP rules.
We actually have it where if we do not know them or trust them, we remove them or do not add them and we intend to be very strict with this.
of course anyone can join. We just need to be careful about who is added. Moderation is the key in anything.
But yet, any member is allowed in the EP Forum chat (unless they're already banned). So to be careful on who is added to Skype, surely they must be barred from the normal chats as well right? I mean that's only fair. #sarcasmtagjustincase
That's not my area, really. Though, I think this should mainly apply for those who are interested in the site but aren't members. If we can prevent spam, its all the better.
Well, The room is quite active, and takes almost nothing away from the site. Also, I know that for myself and others, they can be on Skype, but can't access other parts of the site, especially the radio. When I'm at school or about to go to sleep, it's a great pass time.
so since I never got a real answer the other day. Gabachi said he is a mod of the skype room. Now the skype room is official to EP. So am I to assume that Gabachi is a mod here as well and I don't know it, or he's part of the radio or something. Just a little confused, if it's true and I didn't just hallucinate that post of his.
