Since this is apparently a booming thing, I figured I'd try a go at it. Yay for conforming! I know I'm not around much during the day (hopefully will change in about a week), so I think this could be an interesting way to communicate and share both getting to know others and others getting to know me. Feel free to ask away, but I do reserve the right to withhold information depending on the topic.
Actually, yes. I think this would be a good way for members to get to know us (maybe even a little more than they want!). Not to mention those with questions about the site could then just use a staff ask thread instead of having to go and make one themselves, which would cut back on thread clutter a bit. Now there's a sordid story (not really). I pretty much transitioned out of the furry fandom and entered the brony fandom. What happened, is a few people were into MLP: FiM on a furry site I used to frequent (until drama drove me away). They kept talking about the show, and I was really skeptical about it since I knew about the previous incarnations due to my sister being really into them when she was younger. Then one of them linked me a YouTube video of Pinkie Pie's funniest moments from the first season, and I associated her with Gir from Invader Zim right away, which helped intrigue me about the show. So I started watching the two part opening for the first season, and was hooked pretty fast. I watched the few episodes that I had missed on YouTube, then have caught all I could on the Hub when it airs on TV. Bonus to the story! Another person from that site then told me about Everypony and Everypony Radio, and how they were doing a huge Brony Day broadcast on Livestream. So I tuned in when I could, had an awesome time, and spent AN ENTIRE HOUR trying to register on the site. Yes, we had that much traffic and people joining back in 2011. I finally got through successfully to the registration screen without any errors, and have been a part of this site (whether they like it or not) ever since. *Closes the tome in a puff of dust*
I OP alicorned my way on to the staff . In all seriousness though, I stayed in steady communication with the current staff and just chatted, rather than constantly harassing or hinting about how I should be on the staff. So it was all just more like chatting with a friend rather than applying pressure that would stress them out. Staying active in all areas of the site really helped a lot as well. I would check the forums for threads that looked interesting and post in them, I'd jump on the radio to chat and make music requests when a DJ was on (it was also fun to just chat with the DJ while they were on as well), and I also frequented the chat quite a bit. I happened to notice groups cropping up for beta testing new features on the site before they were released to the entire forum, and thought that sounded like it would be fun to do so I could help the site in some way. One day, they decided to see about giving blogs a try. I was one of the more active beta testers for this, and the blogs were eventually integrated into the site. There were threads for people to apply for various staff positions, and I saw one open up for the blogs. I figured since I did some heavy beta testing on them, that I could handle moderating them. A few others also applied, but Grey Knightmare (the admin at the time) decided to give the position to me. Thank you again for the opportunity Grey! From this point on, we ended up needing more DJ's and chat mods, so I mentioned being willing to help with those as well, and ended up getting those roles as well. *Folds up scroll and rests it gently back with the collection of other scrolls, a contented smile lingering on my face*
Yes, although we have incredibly limited access to electricity. It's also a pain having to ride horses around everywhere, but some people have been working on training grizzlies as a new form of transport. Oh, and we also have a surprising number of bronies. We've all been really wanting to do some kind of statewide meet up at some point. Not a convention though, as there are far too many of those already. I was bored during class one day, and was randomly browsing through various name generators. There was one that I've since lost that I liked. SoulEmber didn't come up as an option in itself, but rather was two different words in two different generated names. I thought about it, and figured it would be really cool to combine the two. Makes me think of heroes and the like, whose souls are strong that they burn bright. Then I started to think about villains, and how their souls could almost be looked at as being reduced to mere embers. There's enough of a spark there to keep them going and doing what they're doing, but it's so misguided and twisted that it isn't as bright as a hero doing something for a better reason.
I've been doing well, especially now that I've got grades back from all my Finals. *Ticks another semester off* Work is keeping me busy, especially with some of the staffing changes going on there (no, I don't mean here :derpe. My dad is doing well after having hip surgery, so that's awesome. I'm super excited that I'll get to make it to two conventions this year, too.
Necrobumping to see what other kinds of questions I might get, or if the staff will have to keep dusting this off.
I think it's very clever how Weird Al parodies songs. I find his work hilarious. He did a great job as Cheese Sandwich in the show, and I would love to see that character return at some point. I just wish he would do a song now and again that isn't a Top 40 hit to break things up, but parodying a well known song will definitely get you a lot more recognition.
So you're not Familiar with "Dare to be Stupid" or "Bob" Both were original songs done in the style of other artist, but still completely original.
