This is the equivalent of me saying "What customer?" to my manager when he asks if the customer is okay. You're benign to matter, and by the sound of it, you have been since the issue was raised. Either way, I think you've had enough of a roasting today, so in future, moderate a lil' better and stop trying to roll issues under the carpet and pin the blame on something/one else. It gets tiring. :derpe: mymightycounsellinglessonsformoderators
Wow it seems like you're getting defensive quickly Rarit. If you jumped the gun, as it seems to me you did, own up to it and apologize. You don't always have to be right. Being a mod doesn't mean "my word is law" or "I must be infallible". We live, we learn. Everyone screws up at some point. Refusing to accept when you are in the wrong just makes you look bad. Doing this and abusing your power as a moderator is how you have earned your reputation. Chill out, breathe deep, calm yourself and work it out.
Okay hey guys, I know it's a site tradition and all to sit around and yell at each other for a couple of pages, but we all already know what happened by this point so how about instead of endlessly complaining about it, how about people (besides Jhera because he's awesome) start suggesting ways to fix the problem instead of pointlessly tossing fuel on the fire. Perhaps the staff should set some time aside with Rarit and talk about this with him and devise a way to keep this from happening, because as people have said in this thread, it's obviously a problem since it's happened before.
Hello Miggy, I can sense a great deal of exasperation from both your choice of words but also your immediate movement to complaint instead of PM to Trance, the moderator you are calling out specifically. Firstly, allow me to clear this up: The thread in question was called as 'Advertising' by our own rules. Those DA points are still deemed a form of currency, arbitrary or otherwise, as they are paid for with money. No permission was asked or given, therefore Trance was doing his job. We ask that anyone wishing to advertise something that produces a profit of any monetary kind would please contact a member of staff for proposal. The reason being is that we can keep such ads out of the way of areas meant for members looking to show off their content for fun. Enterprising individuals are encouraged to talk to us first as we can then decide to offer an advert such a place that commands a larger audience, if we feel the product being sold would be in the interest of the community here. In relevance, we are not against an artist attempting to offer his services, we would prefer to be notified of it first for a number of reasons. Some being clop, gore, or offensive content in the artist's galleries. It pays to be mindful. As for Trance's action towards your post, the execution was not perfect but then neither was the execution of the criticism. While your point is a valid and reasonable one, it was not the place for it. I believe we should have been discussing advertising rules here instead. However, this has been enlightening to our moderating techniques and we will attempt to review our protocols to help improve on this in the future. - Tyro
Well, I'd like to say that this isn't rarit's fault, the staff talks to each other before almost every decision. We all agreed to have the post removed. That is how the staff works, so don't just bag on rarit. I honestly don't know why this is such a big problem. If most of the mods complain about a single comment (or multiple) then there must be something wrong. We've also had some complaints from members on some comments too. I say we jus let this be :I
I suppose it can. Miggy, (or anyone else for that matter) If there's anything you'd still like to add, please PM Tyro directly. ~locked~
