Heres my reaction to the trailer.
He's even looking at the camera. He knows he's not a mutant. He knows all. His name is Maria, Lord of Time and Space.
I was one who welcomed the change that Alicorn Twilight brought, and embraced the potential. This, this is just disgusting. This goes agaimst everything that made FiM appealing in the first place. A world were equality seemed to have been reached, where the characters were not steryotypes, but ambition personalities that defied the standard for television and complemented eachither in interesting and unique ways. There are many thing wrong with this... this disaster, and I will name a few. Spike, a young and loyal member of the cast and "number one assistant" to Twilight Sparkle transforms into a dog without the ability to speak when the ponies become humans. Are they trying to say that Spike was so beneath the others that his other-dimentional equivilant is a lap-dog? A pet? Another thing is that while the ponies in ponyville, and all of equestria, seem to function self sufficiently, where romantic rerlationships seem to display each pony as a partner, one to support the other, and those without a crush can funtion perfectly fine knowing that all they need is themselves and the love of their friends to be truly happy. The ponies act comfortably around those of the opposite gender, and seem do not, (with the exeption of Rarity,) fall all over them selves for boys. Now here comes "Equestria Girls", where the magic genious Twilight Sparkle, bad*** mage and defender of harmony is stuggling through a crowd, only to be rescued by...(shocker,) a boy! Of coarse it's a boy, because, (sarcasm activated,) every girl needs a boy to protect her, to wisk her off her feet and be her knight in snhining armor. Of coarse, it also helps if her cute too. That is no where near all. A prom! Perfect, how unique! Lets all get ready for the prom with our short skirts, TINY waists and out of place gradeschoolers while dodging the threats of the mean girl who wants to ruin our "best day ever" Ugh!
I was interested in the concept of humanized ponies but now the storyline behind seems a little... Dumb. Anyhow, I think I'll be interested in the watching Twilight adapt to being a human. After that, I don't know. Might have to take a bus or something to chug on through it.
It would be nice if Scoots doing the chicken dance in the trailer is another attempt at the developers to nod their hats at us bronies. Another thought that popped in my head - The style of EqG is pretty similar to LPS. I wonder if it would be possible (but also really cool) to have a LPS cameo in the movie. I know I would love to see puppy Spike hanging out with Zoe Trent.
Well, when I read about her being Celestia's former student, her being the antagonist was really obvious. However, being the "mean" high school girl is such a cliche villain that it makes me appreciate King Sombra more.
Apart from Twilight being a major Mary Sue tween and the setting being an even tweenier high school with first world problem dramas, I'm actually looking forward to its release.
