Gabachi is a mod in the room because he's the one who made the room and gathered people in he first place. He showed a commitment for the room. I also asked eight and tyro if they were both okay with this, and they both sad he's trusted enough. Gappy and I also said he'd do well as a mod. He is a member of the site, but he is limited to Skype a lot. Basically, he's a mod that's just not listed on the site, since Skype isn't a plugin of anything for vbulletin, we didnt add names or any powers on the site. He's shown commitment, and he's a good fella, and that's what we need in mods anyway.
So if he were to ban someone from the skype room for say clop. His ban carries over here? This now just sounds even dumber. So you guys have given a person mod powers but that person isn't a mod. He also gets these power because he was limited to skype but still wants to attach EP to the room. So if I make my own official skype room, would I get EP mod abilities? I just need to know the extent of his abilities here? Can a fanfic mod have members banned because of a submitted clopfic, what's the process here. If he is unlisted, then is he really staff? Is this room even really official under EP? Tyro and Eight haven't even been in this thread to confirm it.
You seem to be extrapolating these answers you were given a bit too much. Gabachi runs the Skype room. This same room also happens to be the "Official" Everypony Skype room, which appears to be endorsed by this site as being safe for its users. So he'll probably moderate it under similar rules to which Everypony is moderated. That seems to be about it. I don't think there's much more to say than that as of now.
Where is it endorsed by this site. Everything has to go through admins, who haven't posted in this thread yet. If he is moderating that room as part of EP that means he can cause changes back here. If I were in that room and posted something in that room and was banned from the room, the ban carries over to here. If Gabachi is the banner, they he has pretty much been giving mod powers of the site, but is only limited by the skype room. There is plenty to say. If I were to create, I don't know, the Official EP ventrilo room. Would I be granted the same thing? If I were committed to it and gathered the people.
I kinda inferred that, just from the fact that Flutteryshy posted this thread, calling it "Official." Only severe bans will carry over, and Gabachi will probably have to run those by the Mods/Admins of Everypony considering he may not be given direct mod powers here. It's still a pretty simple concept. Possibly, yes. Maybe you would.
1 - If it's clop, your ban most likely would carry over; but it'd need to be passed to a mod with the proper permissions to do so. This has been done in the past -- example being on the site chats. Those found clop RPing or sharing similar materials are banned site wide. A chat mod can ban you from there, but would need to get the memo to an admin or forum mod to "global ban". 2 - His jurisdiction is only skype -- he can only ban you from there. If there is any reason to extend the ban it must be passed to someone higher up. 3 - I don't know, AFAIK it is an official chat (since Eight and Tyro both apparently endorse it), but I don't think Gabachi is actually "staff" ... Hope this cleared up some of your questions -- but I agree with you this hasn't exactly been fleshed out very thoroughly.
Having an 'official' part of the site so detached from it seems really bizarre to me, it is not going to help site activity in any way, shape or form. What's wrong with the site chat? By all means, make your skype groups, but branding it "Everypony Official" only causes confusion and complication - in my opinion.
I hear ya, I don't understand it either... I thought staff was done with skype after being rid of the last one.
From what I understand, users didn't like the fact that the former EP Chatroom turned into a pronhub once we disowned it; some of the staff thought it should just be remade I guess.
I agree with this as well. If you want to go into an EP chat, there is a chat button on the top of EVERY page of the forum.
The Skype chatroom seems to be rather quiet, so I'm reviving this thread to see if there is any interest in joining the Everypony Skype Group. Let's not have a continuation of the discussion on whether there should be a Skype group or not. We seem to be following though on this.
