Right. I've noticed something recently. There are 7 radio mods and 2 RP mods. There are about 5 people on the radio at a most everyday. Eluuna and Legion are rarely ever on. Unless it's for technical stuff, I don't see why the radio would need so many mods. And for the Rp section, I don't see what the point of having two mods that are hardly ever on. I personally don't see why we need so many radio mods, and think that the RP mods should be either replaced or there should be more. But this is just a thought.
Well really the RP section pretty much runs itself though I don't know about the RP chat safe to say I'm never stepping in there just not my forte. As for radio I know there have been some problems in the past when we didn't have regular intervals of mods as there was a "dark zone" in which some people from the web decided to go on and do things that were against the rules.
No, no, this is a good post, and you bring up a valid point. I'm not entirely sure of the specifics, since I only know what was happening up until about a month ago, but Eluuna and Legion have their own lives to take care of. They were picked for a reason (Though admittedly, I didn't really like the option of Legion because of his future, inevitable inactivity) but Eluuna is still good. She's on at constant times, however, so she doesn't have to be constantly active. I'm not entirely sure of Legion's activity, so I can't speak on that end. There are a lot of Radio staff for seemingly a tiny radio... but hey, at the end of the day, they're all working to make the site a better place (Hopefully). I think we've got plenty of staff in the right areas. Sure they could use some adjustments, but it's on them now. Just have faith and hope that they listen to your words.
I don't think there needs to be that many radio moderators either, unless most are acting DJ's/hosts now then that's alright since more live stuff can be done. Otherwise everyone will rely on everyone else and you'll actually get LESS active staff (bloated staff destroys efficiency). RP mods I don't really have any comment for, they seem alright as long as they login enough times to keep up with the basis of how RPs are going or if there are any content report violations, etc.
The number of staff we have now is a direct effect of how big the site was back in the quote-on-quote 'old days'. Right now the radio has shrunk significantly (And so has the forum, somewhat). I definitely think that there are too many, but I don't really think any of the radio staff deserve to be laid off. Definitely an option and scenario that we have to think about, though. The radio is stagnant right now, and there isn't much to do until that point.
I say it doesn't matter. It's not like the staff is getting paid, or we desperately need the help of inactive mods. Even if they were demoted, not a single thing would change around here.
I've never been to the RP section, but if it's anything like the forums it pretty much runs itself, especially in the off season. The population here is pretty decent at behaving themselves, which is also very likely the reason why half of us are even here and have stuck around. The reason we prolly have so many radio mods is 1) the radio used to be much, much more active and 2) everyone was complaining that there were never any mods on at the times they were, so they got more mods to hopefully close the gaps in the mods' active time slots. Although if radio mods cannot DJ then what's the point?
I remember there being a clamor for a DJ being on later at night at one point, but I haven't seen the numbers to back this. On weekdays, I can usually only DJ in the evenings or night, and it's usually just me around. So no idea why there was a big fuss for a night DJ, only to have them play an empty room. Also, DJ's do much more than just go on the radio and take requests. We also try to keep our song library as up to date as we can, communicate with new musicians to see if we can get their music, and maintain a presence in the musician community to stay abreast of potential news.
It was a little tough for me to get into at first, what with Countess Coloratura being an obvious analogue of Lady Gaga. As soon as I realized that Rara was still a normal pony, and her manager was the antagonist, I enjoyed the episode. The last song was really good. It's cool that Equestria now has a canon national anthem.
