"Horrendous abomination. So much sex, violence, and profanity, in just this movie! Imagine what the show is like. I am not gonna let my daughters own ANY of My little pony's merchindise. Do not watch." Ehh.... This has to be someone trolling, right?
Mr torque owned it on the reviews here's his Looooooong comment about it. Spoiler: The comment Mr. Torgue June 18, 2013 REMEMBER WHEN THE WHOLE "BRONY" THING STARTED AND EVERYONE WAS GIVING US THE USUAL "LOL GAY" TRASH? I'LL NEVER THE DAY THE LOOK ON THEIR FACES EXPLODED, WHEN THE SHOW'S POPULARITY SKYROCKETED AND WE LOVED AND TOLERATED THE *squee* OUT OF THOSE HATERS! NOW WE HAVE ALL THIS INFIGHTING AND NERD RAGE OVER TWILIGHT GETTING WINGS AND "HUMANIZED PONIES" AND A LOT OF KNEE-JERK REACTION BULL*squee* ABOUT THE DIRECTION OF THE SHOW, AS IF WE *squee* OWN IT! DHX DIDN'T HAVE TO MAKE IT AS ALL-AUDIENCES AS THEY DID, BUT THEY TURNED MY LITTLE PONY INTO THE GREATEST THING TO HIT THE INTERNET SINCE NUMA NUMA! SERIOUSLY, 3 SEASONS OF AWESOME AND PEOPLE STILL THINK DHX DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE *squee* THEY'RE DOING?! ALRIGHT, IT'S STRAIGHT-UP DAWG TIME: WHEN I FIRST HEARD ABOUT EQUESTRIA GIRLS, I WAS PUT OFF BY THE WHOLE "HUMANIZED PONIES" THING. WE ALL GOTTA FACE FACTS: A BUNCH OF US WENT "WHAT THE *squee* WERE THEY THINKING?!" TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION, I RECENTLY PUT TOGETHER A SMALL FOCUS GROUP REPRESENTING PANDORA'S FEMALE DEMOGRAPHIC, AND THEY HAD THIS TO SAY: P. Tannis: "While I cannot say for certain, I theorize that the corporation is trying to hastily birth a fresh toy line in an effort to further captivate the young female demographic on which they so desperately rely. Why they would try to do so with a back-alley cesarean section is anyone's guess." M. Moxxi: "No comment." E. Hodunk: "It's 'cuz them folks at Hasbro love skinny chicks. And they love skinny chicks 'cuz they's *squee*." AS THE MOVIE DREW CLOSER AND I BOUGHT INTO THE "CASH COW" THEORY, I STARTED TO EXPECT A REPEAT OF 'MASK OF THE PHANTASM' AND THE MOVIE WOULD JUST GET DUMPED INTO THEATERS AND FORGOTTEN ABOUT. AND THEN THE MOVIE PREMIERED, AND I LEARNED THAT SOMETIMES GUT REACTIONS ARE TOTAL BULL*squee*! (WARNING: Major Plot Details Follow.) (SECONDARY WARNING: Torgue takes no responsibility for spoiled plot details if you did not read the first warning. Torgue also does not take responsibility for butthurt or blown minds experienced as a result of aforementioned spoiled plot details.) EQUESTRIA GIRLS STANDS OUT NOT AS A WHOLLY ORIGINAL MOVIE, BUT AS A POTENTIAL CLUSTER*squee* THAT ENDED UP BEING ONE OF THE GREATEST TV-BASED MOVIES OF ALL TIME (EXCEPT FOR SERENITY, THAT *squee* WAS BADASS)! THE ANIMATION IS FLUID AND STYLISH, THE MUSIC IS CATCHY AS *squee*, AND THE WRITING IS SNAPPY AND HILARIOUS! FANS WILL FIND THE MOVIE IS FULL OF FANDOM NODS AND CALLBACKS TO THE ORIGINAL SHOW, AND I HAD FUN PICKING OUT THE COUNTERPARTS TO EQUESTRIA'S INHABITANTS (DERPY EVEN SHOWS UP FOR ABOUT 20 FRAMES). AND TO THOSE WHO SMUGLY PREDICTED THE STORY FROM A MILE AWAY, I HAVE TWO THINGS FOR YOU: AN EXPLODING FIST TO THE FACE, AND A REMINDER THAT IT'S THE JOURNEY NOT THE DESTINATION! FROM THE MOMENT TWILIGHT SPARKLE SETS FOOT (NOT "HOOF" THIS TIME--HUMANS, *****!) INTO THE 'HIGH SCHOOL' DIMENSION, EQUESTRIA GIRLS HAS THE SAME STRUCTURE AS THE SHOW'S PILOT: TWILIGHT UNITES THE MANE 6 WE KNOW AND LOVE, AND THEN AN EVIL PRESENCE MANIFESTS ITSELF JUST IN TIME FOR TWILIGHT TO KICK HER ASS BEFORE TIME RUNS OUT. ALSO, THERE'S A MAGICAL RAINBOW, BECAUSE MAGICAL RAINBOWS ALL THE WAY, MOTHER*squee*! TWO SUBPLOTS STAND OUT. THE FIRST ONE HAS TO DO WITH TWILIGHT GETTING USED TO HER RECENTLY-OBTAINED WINGS. THIS "NEW BODY" EXPERIENCE CARRIES OVER INTO THE 'HIGH SCHOOL' DIMENSION WHERE SHE HAS TO DEAL WITH HANDS AND BIPEDAL LOCOMOTION IN PLACE OF MAGIC AND WINGS (ALTHOUGH SHE PICKS IT UP PRETTY *squee* QUICK). THIS IS HILARIOUS, BUT THE WRITERS KNOW WHEN TO STOP, AND THEY ONLY CALL BACK TO IT ONCE LATER ON. THERE'S ALSO A LOVE STORY. TWILIGHT GETS A CRUSH ON THE VERY ATTRACTIVE FLASH SENTRY, SUNSET SHIMMER'S VERY ATTRACTIVE EX-BOYFRIEND (DID I MENTION HE'S VERY ATTRACTIVE?!)! THIS DOESN'T GO BEYOND THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT SENTRY AND SHIMMER USED TO DATE; EITHER TWILIGHT DOESN'T KNOW THE SOCIAL RULES FOR DATING YOUR ARCHRIVAL'S EX, OR SHIMMER DOESN'T GIVE A FLYING *squee*, OR PROBABLY BOTH SINCE THEY'RE TOO FOCUSED ON DEFEATING EACH OTHER. IT'S GOOD THIS IS USED SPARINGLY BECAUSE THE PLOT HAD EXACTLY ENOUGH INTRIGUE THAT A LOVE TRIANGLE WOULD'VE COMPLICATED THINGS AND MADE THE HIGH-SCHOOL STORY FEEL EVEN MORE CLICHED. SENTRY HIMSELF IS PRETTY MUCH THE "NICE GUY" OBJECT OF FEMALE AFFECTION, COMPLETE WITH THE TALENT TO PLAY SICK GUITAR RIFFS! HE DOESN'T SERVE A LOT OF NARRATIVE FUNCTION OTHER THAN TO SHOW TWILIGHT'S ADORKABLE ROMANTIC SIDE, THE KIND OF SCHOOLGIRL CRUSH WE'D EXPECT FROM HER BOOKISH PERSONALITY. AND BECAUSE LOOSE ENDS ARE FOR *squee*, HIS EQUESTRIAN COUNTERPART BASICALLY INTRODUCES HIMSELF AS "HI TWILIGHT! I'M FLASH SENTRY, AND I'M YOUR NEW LOVE INTEREST!" BUT IN HIS SMOOTH, NICE-GUY WAY. I DON'T KNOW IF EITHER OF THESE SUBPLOTS WILL BE PRESENT IN SEASON 4 (SENTRY'S BEEN CONFIRMED NOT TO APPEAR THOUGH, SO HAVE AT IT, SHIPPERS!), SO I'M GLAD THAT EQUESTRIA GIRLS TOOK THE TIME TO DEVELOP TWILIGHT NATURALLY AS A CHARACTER ADAPTING TO THE STAGGERING AMOUNT OF *squee* THAT KEEPS HAPPENING TO HER! OK, NOW THE BAD STUFF: THE 72-MINUTE RUNTIME HAS A NOTICEABLE EFFECT ON THE STORY'S PACING. THE PLOT FEELS ABOUT AS RUSHED AS THE SEASON 3 FINALE, AND THERE'S NOT A LOT OF TIME FOR EXPOSITION OR RESOLUTION, ESPECIALLY IN THE 'HIGH SCHOOL' DIMENSION. IT'S EASY TO FOLLOW, BUT IT LEAVES A COUPLE THINGS UNEXPLAINED, MOSTLY ABOUT SUNSET SHIMMER. WE SEE SHE'S BEEN PROM QUEEN (I KNOW IT'S 'FALL FORMAL PRINCESS,' SAME *squee* THING!) FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS, AND WE EVEN SEE A SERIES OF PICTURES WHERE HER APPEARANCE GETS MORE MALEVOLENT OVER TIME. IT IMPLIES THAT SHE GOT OTHER MAGICAL CROWNS FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE. WHERE, YOU ASK? I DON'T *squee* KNOW! THERE'S A PRETTY HALF-ASSED (AND STILL INCOMPLETE) EXPLANATION FOR THE "EVIL LOOK" THING FROM TWILIGHT, BUT WE DON'T HEAR THAT UNTIL THE FINAL BATTLE--WHICH, BY THE WAY, TAKES UP LIKE 5 MINUTES OF SCREEN TIME AND CONSISTS OF THEM SHOUTING MONOLOGUES AT EACH OTHER WITH ALL THE MELODRAMA OF A SOAP OPERA! AND THEN THE LESSON OF FRIENDSHIP APPARENTLY *****-SLAPS SHIMMER SO HARD SHE TURNS GOOD FASTER THAN YOU CAN SAY "BUY SOME APPLES!" I ADMIT THAT MY COMPLAINTS ARE ALL ABOUT LITTLE THINGS, MINOR STUFF THAT DOESN'T TAKE ANY ENJOYMENT AWAY FROM THE MOVIE. AS RUSHED AS IT FELT, AND AS PREDICTABLE THE PLOT WAS, EQUESTRIA GIRLS AT LEAST KEEPS ITS STORY COHESIVE AND ENTERTAINING. TO SUMMARIZE, I LOVED EQUESTRIA GIRLS SO MUCH THAT I FELT GUILTY THAT I DOUBTED DHX FOR EVEN ONE *squee* SECOND! A 72-MINUTE-LONG COMMERCIAL GIVES SO MANY *squee* ABOUT QUALITY THAT IT'S ACTUALLY BETTER THAN SUPPOSEDLY "GOOD" MOVIES THAT CAME OUT EARLIER THIS YEAR?! THE PEOPLE BEHIND THIS TAKE *squee* PRIDE IN THEIR WORK! I GIVE EQUESTRIA GIRLS 9 EXPLOSIONS OUT OF 10 AND MY PERSONAL SEAL OF RECOMMENDATION! P.S. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID; STAY FOR THE *squee* END CREDITS! less
I've looked at all the movie theaters and have been doing some extensive research all over the internet trying to find this movie. No luck so far. A lot of fakes, and my Norton was doing it's job too from what I've seen. I just want to watch it already.
Yeah, of course! Probably making fun of the people saying the ponies are too sexualized. :/ I mean, they look like Danny Phantom characters, I see no sexualization. I mean maybe they look cute, especially Fluttershy, but that's far from sexualization. - - Auto Merge - - Yeah, of course! I'm looking forward to watching it tomorrow with my friend Josh Thomas he might not be a Brony like me or watch the show when he's not hanging out with me but he does somewhat enjoy the show so i'm sure he'll enjoy the movie just like I know I will.
I just got back from watching it. It was quite good! The songs are great and the story was good for the time they had. The characters we love are the same, no matter if they are in pony/human/dragon/dog form. Enjoy it! Go in with the same open mind you had when you first started watching the TV series and you will love it the same way.
Theatre, there's a little independent one near me that used to be a church that was showing it. $5 entry which surprised me, so bonus there! The seats were incredibly comfortable too.
This is fun. Go the first page in this thread, then come back here. Then go back, then come here. Reading the first couple pages in this thread makes it seem like EqG would bring about the end of the world, and now it's just like, "meh, it's actually kinda good."
Some of the songs have been released, my fav is Help Twilight win the crown <3 And the last 13 minutes of Equestria girls! FTW?!
Just saw it and boy was it worth it. It was actually a lot better than I thought it was going to be! If you plan on watching make sure you watch all the credits just a little tip!
Why is there a scene that plays after the credits that I missed due to the fact that I left the theater shortly after the credits started?
Okay, I saw the movie. It's dumb in a good way. I left the film feeling very happy and I had a good time, but boy were some parts just face palm worthy. I kinda want to see it again.
It's on YouTube. Watch it quick before hasbro nukes it. http://celestiawept2.tumblr.com/post/53631259379/part-1-http-www-youtube-com-watch-v-rq4n6gepco8
