I sort of felt the same way. It was chock full of references and had some cheesy moments that made me cringe a bit but it was decent enough as a film. I was glad, aside from some other bronies singing the Smile song in line, that it wasn't terribly embarrassing. I am tempted to watch it again, especially since I can't get that Help Twilight song out of my head, but I'm ambivalent.
Thank you, Echoax. That was better than I was expecting. The fandom shall survive!
To those of you who have seen it, I ask only one question. Was Lyra anywhere to be seen in the movie?
A few cringe worthy and/or cheesy moments are to be expected. Lets not forget the target audience here.
Awesome. Lyra is my favorite background pony so I was hoping that everyone's favorite human obsessed pony would get the humanized treatment.
It's not as bad as most people make it out to be it's actual pretty good and has some funny lines and moments in it.
Okay for all you bronies who have seen the movie, please tell me in your honest opinion one thing. Being as big of a Spike fan as I am, I was pretty nervous for him going into this movie since they not only put him in it that they turn him into a dog. Does it even work? Does he do something to help save the day? Is it he at least the same 'ol Spike that (at least I) know and love?
I'm pretty sure all of the characters are the same old characters, just humanized. Or canine-ized, as the case may be.
Okay, just from reading the plot summary. This movie is full of plot holes. First up, Sunset Shimmer, When Principal Celestia puts the crown up at the Fall Formal, why doesn't Sunset Shimmer just steal the damn thing back, I mean she stole it once FROM ARMED GUARDS. Instead she decided to take the Disney villain method, OVERCOMPLICATE EVERYTHING. She could've just stole the crown back, threw it into a lake with a strong current, and been like "Ha Ha, I win *****." Speaking of the crown, Why did Principal Celestia make it the prize of the fall formal, Is there no such thing as lost and found?
Normally, I like spoilers but I'm going to do something a little out of character and avoid them as best I can. From what I've read, it should be on DVD August 6th so that won't be TOO long of a wait... I guess.
Watching the movie helps with understanding the movie. I'd be happy to tell you what happened if you don't care about spoilers.
