[/IMG] These little work in progress figures (actually very nearly finished now, pegasus wings take a bit of time!) shown on the top of wine bottle corks are about 23mm to the top of their heads (no, I didn’t drink all of that wine!) I’ve long been fans of ponies and have a strong desire to make hand crafted little equines, which I would then make available to everyone in the form of finely cast pewter figurines. To do so I would like to initiate a kickstarter project. I’d love to hear what you think of this project and if you might like to back it. I need to go into this project feeling secure In the knowledge I’m not going to face crippling Kickstarter fees without the project having been successfully funded. We’d only need about 30 people to actually want a set to make the project successful. 90 to unlock everything and a freebie. The project will be kept reasonably limited, no more than 24 different figures, apart from a freebie one off pony if all goes well. Limiting the scope of the project would enable me to deliver quickly and professionally. The other twelve characters not yet shown would be stereotypical roleplaying characters, such as paladins, clerics, thieves, you get the picture. With perhaps some fun stuff like a can can pony and a space pony.. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t continue to make more little equine characters off of my own back later on if people actually want the figurines and the project is successful, as my background is in wargaming and I’d like an army of ponies… with supporting characters too. Which I will gladly spend the time on if it turns out the desire for them is out there. The casting would be done by griffin moulds, definitely rated as among the best by sculptors and crafts people alike in Britain. With decades of experience casting in pewter. Anyway, please let me know what you think, and if you’re at all interested!
Well isn't that nifty? Nice work, great for tabletop gaming, too. I don't know how well it would do without a project paired up with it, but looks very nice. Edit: A little constructive criticism on the shape of the hooves: Some of them look a little more like suction cups than pony hooves.
Oh I agree with you, there's certainly a bit of touching up to do. Thanks for the feedback - - Auto Merge - - Should have them done by monday or tuesday next week!
Oh most likely do the one space marine pony :Trollestia: I'd have to be careful though, GW do like to sue just about anyone that even mentions space marines!
Powered Armor Protectorate Ponies Edition. Make up your own name aside from Space Marines, and power armor is power armor. :derpe:
These figures are very nice, I think they would do great out in the market, although I must agree with eight's words,"suction cup", is more of what they look like rather than hooves, but other than that they look very nice, I hope to see the pegasus, & the ones such as clerics & theives, mideval things are awesome, but mode all ponies... Are the best thing that's ever happened, I would love to see things in those catagories more than any other.
Sure, I get the suction cup, I can see it myself and I appreciate people reiterating it *^.^* The hting with sculpting, especially minis is that you have to do things in layers. I couldn't just make a hoof in one go, I'd have to make a 'suction cup' as it were and then build onto that from there. Making another layer to create the final non suction cup shape ^.~ Will be doing most of that over the weekend and monday, so I like to think I'd have finished pics to show on tuesday. But I don't get "but mode all ponies... " Is that a spelling mistake or am I being obtuse? Anywho, thanks for the feedback. I've posted this on MLPForums too but as of yet no one has a said a thing on there. - - Auto Merge - - Pony powered armour? ^.~
Finished pieces on their bases and ready to be sent off to the casters, need some nicely painted versions before starting the kickstarter methinks. Now working on larger, slightly more realistic and slightly larger king, queen and insectoid pony things!
I foolishly in my teenage years attempted to merely modify existing miniatures with Green Stuff. I can tell from bitter experience how much effort has gone into these. Sir, if these are made available in the UK I shall be purchasing the full set.
Th-those wings! Their beautiful! I congratulate you on your epicness good sir, also the hooves are looking better, I have three words that will still with you for years to come: perfectly amazing person
It certainly is hard when you start, just takes a little while until things start to click into place! They'll be available worldwide and beyond.. And thanks for the standing ovation, it's made my day That gif has so much passion. - - Auto Merge - - Cheers buddy ~ I'm glad the hooves aren't as suction cuppy
Very nice! I do admit that some of the manes look a bit overly extended, but otherwise a fantastic job.
Hi again! I've been meaning to post here again for some time, however I forgot the password and only today realized I was typing in the wrong email address for my account to get a password reset . Anyway, I launched the kickstarter for these ponies (and lots more besides) If you fancy a look, please follow the link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1835446295/pewter-ponies-miniature-ponies-for-table-top-gamin
Thanks to everyone who has pledged on our Kickstarter, Pewter Ponies, so far the basic project is now funded and we’re over half way into our first unlock! Which also means we’re a third of the way into the project and over a third needed to unlock all of models is there. On Monday or Tuesday we will have pictures up of the finished adventurers for everyone to see and a special Kickstarter exclusive figure for all those that pledge on the project. Cheers Berg
