So does this mean you're getting rid of the IIRC? Personally I like the idea of the shoutbox, I think it's what the IIRC should have been. But having the Shoutbox, and radio chat, and IIRC as well as the mass traffic the GCT gets every day, I can forsee several areas of the forum itself being dis-used. There's just way too many sections for this imo...like, why bother using the whole of the forums when you've got three chats, the GCT and a blog page, to post what you want? EP isn't a site with a huge amount of members, so it's all well and good adding all these new features, I like them, but they will just stretch the amount of people using parts of the site wide, meaning you get large sections unused. Personally I'd wait until you got a bit more traffic, potentially through other means, before implementing them. TL;DR Nice idea, and it's working well, but I think for it to work I think you either need A: A crap-ton more users or B: Less sections so that you don't just get huge dis-used areas.
Hmm...One idea so far was trying to upgrade the current Chat to have a few of the more useful functions of the Shoutbox. What do you think?
I kind of like Foxy's idea to make the shoutbox more of a feature for the RP forums. It might actually serve some purpose there.
Possible that this could occur (but I would think the other chat would suffer this more). When new threads get posted, they get their own "shout" into the box which I quite like actually.
I like it so far. And I imagine for those that don't there would be an option to turn it off? It's supposed to be the Everpony NETWORK, if one part is used more than another, so what? They are still using the site.
This is true, but it appears the user options to turn it off are available in the paid/pro version only. BUT an admin can probably force hide it for people if they request that. Edit: Collapse button works on a cookie too so that's another way to at least mostly hide it as well.
