I.. guess I should start with a little introduction. I like to go by the name shatter for reasons I can't really explain. I'm not normally a very "open" sort of person as I'm rather fearful and a little shy around others. This is the first forum I have ever tried joining that isn't purely based on learning actually. I am currently learning coding (html, css, java, and soon a bit of ruby) and I must admit that I find it quite entertaining! Anyways, I suppose that's enough of an introduction. I'm.. actually a bit worried about this place. I joined here a few days ago, but at that time I was a bit nervous about posting an introduction after reading a few posts/topics. The ones I read were mainly discussing "staff" and what is being done and what is being overlooked on this site; and for whatever reason I found that sort of unnerving.. I have had thoughts on offering a couple suggestions; but as a new member, I don't believe it is my place to do so.. In fact, I pretty much feel like apologizing for being so useless in these matters. With that being said, I don't know if it is right of me to stick around. It seems like this place is quite connected with the members, and I most likely do not fit in and I'm also most likely not welcome. Come to think of it, I'm not even entirely sure what there is to do around here. Anyways, I guess I don't need to stay in order to give this site my best wishes! I hope things work out for all of you!
Welcome. Sure you've joined at an less then stellar time but it will pass. Fitting in shouldn't be that hard to do just post in threads. They actually seem to be active which is a good thing. As for things to do, RPs, chat, threads. It's forum, so the typical stuff.
Hello there! The name's Dynasty Charge, I'm a chat moderator here, a pleasure to meet you! As Echoax said, less than a stellar time, unfortunately, and it shall pass. I hope you enjoy yourself in the meantime though! And as a new member, it shouldn't make a difference, all opinions and suggestions are welcome as long as they're productive/with opinions, constructive critisism! Oh. As tight knit as it looks, all members from all different times have managed to fit in one way or another! You seem like you'd fit in fine! If you decide to stick around, perhaps I'll see you in the chat sometime! People there are pleasant, and at times it can be awfully quiet. If not; I wish you the best of luck in wherever you may go!
Welcome to Everypony! I'd love to be your friend! It's a lot of fun with the chat and forum games, and while the mods and admins may be around, they're just as friendly and welcoming. This is the forum I do everything on. Please stay....pweeez? :3
Welcome to Everypony and I am sorry that you came here when it was a little rough but it happens. I am glad to see you like coding, it is pretty fun. Anyway here is your complimentary video I hope you enjoy.
Okay.. so it's not necessarily a problem for me to be here? That's a bit of a relief! I wasn't quite sure what sort of community this was. Things just seemed a tad bit off.. Guess my mind was just messing with me! I'll still hold off on suggesting ideas as that appears to be a touchy subject with some.. less than pleasant outcomes. Still, it sounds like everything is getting better, so I guess I'll stick around for a while to see how things go! Thanks for pointing out what this site is mainly for, Echoax. Discussions and bit of chatting is just my cup of tea! RP on the other hand is something I can't handle. Also, thanks Dynasty Charge for clearing other things up a bit for me! I was just a bit lost I guess.. And a big thanks to ZoeTrent0123, JoeWinko, Sujii-san, Yetione and A Smoove Criminal for the welcomes and kind words! I'm not used to being welcomed, so I'm not even entirely sure on what to say.. Thanks again and it's a pleasure meeting all of you! I'll try to avoid getting in the way of things..
Welcome to Everypony, you certainly are welcome here and I do hope you'll like it here. Cool to see another person who likes coding.
First forum not devoted to learning? I hope that we give you a bit of a relaxing break from acquiring lots of knowledge, then. Coding is something I'm a bit interested in, but my only experience with it so far has been VB. With how much I struggled (still somehow pulled off an A), I don't know if it will be something I make my career out of. I definitely respect those who are really good at it though. You joined at a time where there's a bit of strife regarding a couple of the current staff, but I'm hoping that won't result in the death of the site. If you feel like reading through the threads about it, feel free. I just hope you won't let it deter you from sticking around. I see you have some ideas, but it looks like you're unsure about posting them publicly. That's the impression I'm getting from your original post, anyway. If you would rather, feel free to send me a PM about the ideas and I can relay them to the staff. Everypony's ideas and opinions matter here, so I don't want you thinking that just because you're new, that yours don't. It would be nice getting a fresh, new perspective. I hope you do stick around. If you ever have any questions, feel free to send me a PM. As for things to do, we have RP's, a radio that plays pony music, a podcast that airs live most Saturday mornings, a chat room, blogs, and forums. Feel free to explore around and just dive in! I hope to see you around the site. Welcome to Everypony!
Mike406, does this by chance mean you're proficient in coding? That's so cool! I'm a total novice. I only recently managed to get myself hooked! What sort of coding do you do or enjoy the most? On second thought, that might be a bit nosy of me to be asking.. I just haven't met many coders! And, before I forget, thanks for the welcome! Thanks XtremeHawkz and hello and welcome to ya! Hope you like it here as well, guess I'll see you around! Ah, you completed a course on Visual Basics, SoulEmber? I haven't taken that course before, but I do plan on taking it soon! I took C++ first, and that was quite fun to mess around with. That course was way too basic, though.. Okay, I'm going to stop here or I'll keep rambling on and on about this. And yes, I noticed the little conflict going on, but I hope everyone can piece things back together with each other. I'll avoid talking about it from now on.. It just sort of caught me off guard. Also, thanks for offering to listen to my ideas, but I don't think they'd really do much anyways.. Thanks for the welcome, help, and information! Helps me out way more than you would think!
I'm still a learner and I've coded things here and there for this site (still do). I'm pretty good with HTML, CSS, some javascript. I've learned Visual Basic last semester at college and will be taking C++ this fall and Java later on. Things I'd like to do in the future are coding for linux systems, Android, and similar systems. I'd like to eventually make a career out of it.
Oh, so you're taking these courses in college? What is the title of the degree you are aiming for? I won't be starting college for a year, but having some kind of research done for future reference is never such a bad idea. Do you by chance know the parts of a PC? I know very little about the working parts of a computer, but that's something I plan on learning soon! There are so many questions I want to ask, but I don't want to bother you either.. Anyways, I wish you luck with your degree! Thanks! I'm actually really liking it here. I guess I'll see you around then!
Going for Computer Science and Engineering, so naturally I would need to know my ins and outs of computer systems both logically and physically. I build PCs as a hobby and am pretty well rounded where that's concerned. You can ask me whatever you'd like, it's certainly not a bother. If you have skype you can find me there as well.
Haha, I guess it was silly of me to even ask if you knew the components of a PC! You wouldn't by any chance know of any sites off the top of your head where I could begin learning the basics, would you? We used to have some sort of PC repair class offered at my school, but it was removed for whatever reason.. It's a class I'm planning on taking in college anyways, but I would like to have a decent knowledge on the subject beforehand! The other thing that interests me is that you stated you code things here and there on this site.. What sort of work does that entail? I.. guess that's sort of a strange question, so don't bother answering that one if you don't want to.. I just haven't had real experience with coding outside of learning it in classes and doing my own research. Skype is something I don't have at the moment, but I think I will try to set it up soon! Thank you so much for all of your help!
Hmm, I can't really think of sites to learn computer hardware off the top of my head, but I know they're out there. http://www.tomshardware.com/ is one good place to go for reviews and some pretty useful information on newer hardware; I use them quite a bit. I would also think that computer hardware and enthusiasts forums would be a good place to go to as well. People there generally know their stuff and there's probably plenty of info within the sites themselves. As for what I've done on the site in terms of coding, most of it is just pretty standard HTML , CSS and Javascript, some minor server PHP scripting as well though I'm very much a beginner there. I've made some of the themes here and do hope to come back later to make more. You seem to really enjoy the topic which is always great to see. If you need help with anything or have any other questions I'm usually always on here daily. See you around
