I'd like to see what you all think of the Zimmerman trial. Was justice served? Now this will not be about guns or race. i believe it was justice. When someone is beating you, and you don't know if they're going to kill you or not, you need to fight back to defend yourself. If you can't use your own strength, then use what ever is at your disposal, be it a knife, club, beer bottle, or yes, a gun. It's not about killing, it's about keeping yourself safe.
From what I heard on the news they made it sound like Zimmerman was all to blame for everything that happened. I then later stumbled onto a site that shared other elements of the story I never heard. Like how Trevon had punch a bus driver and blah blah blah. Stuff I never heard on the news. From a lot of the people I subscribe to on youtube a lot seem to think this case was wrong and Zimmerman was a cold blooded killer. But if Zimmerman was attacked and with Florida's stand your ground laws, he seemed to be with in his right to shoot. I don't normally agree with cops on anything, I'd like to see them all lose cases like this. It's just that people have to know how things are around cops, they have a gun, taser, mace and all sorts of other things that could cause pain or death. Cops can use them, as much as I'd like them to be dialed back on that kinda stuff, but it's all up to the officer in the moment. If the cop thought he was in serious danger at the time and thought the gun was his only chance at stopping the assault, then no duh he would use it. That's my ramblings, I sure I said something that might interest someone in there. I dunno.
Hey there Fluttershy will always be cutest :3 I'm quarter dutch and always found the country rather interesting. Might go there on my world tour Enjoy your stay with us :derpe:
Um, if someone was beating me up and I had only a gun to defend myself, then of coarse I'm going to shoot them. Only under particular circumstances would I decide whether or not to aim for a vital spot, as in when I'm not being beaten to a pulp and unable to focus. I see a lot, and I mean A LOT of people playing the race card. Oh well, as long as they don't bother me personally about it, I don't really care. Myself and everyone else in my house agrees that it was a justifiable killing.
Truly it's an insignificant thing compared with other things going on in the world. Zimmerman himself though is just an idiot that brought all the hate he no doubt is receiving upon himself when he could have avoided it all. After all he did provoke the situation.
Zimmerman found the man responsible for several local burgularies, followed him to make sure that he wouldn't escape, and when the criminal attacked and attempted to kill him, Zimmerman put him down like a rabid dog. He deserves a medal, not a trial.
Didn't he follow Trevon. I admit I haven't really been following the case but pursing someone is not standing your ground. Also, I wouldn't have a problem with this, if the same state didn't put a woman who didn't kill anyone in jail for 20 years by denying her the stand your ground law against her abusive husband.
I haven't really been following the case, since it is something that the news media made a big deal out of. There are more important things in this world than murder trials, which, sadly, happen all the time.
Obviously you are listening to some media that is not worth listening to. Or like a bunch of other people in the world you made this up.
From what I'm reading, these aren't facts. These are at best, guesses as to what happened since it seems no one but Zimmerman knows what really went down.
As I said before this case means absolutely nothing. There are far more interesting things happening in the world.
There have multiple stories told, but Zimmerman's is the ONLY one supported by the evidence. Trevon Martin's family and friends' lies would have been a little more convincing if not for the fact that they changed their stories with every telling. - - Auto Merge - - Wrong. This is a case of an innocent man being crucified by the media simply because the man he killed in self-defense happened to black.
So North Korea getting a Fan Song ground to air radar array I'll be it the ship is detained in Panama, but the whole incident breaks three UN sanctions against the country and Cuba will have to answer for it. This is way the hell more important than some dolt that killed a teen after he happened to tense the situation. Don't trust the media on this stuff you're just feeding the media power on trivial matters.
I do agree that your topic is of higher importance; however, this is a thread discussing the Zimmerman case, correct? Why not discuss this new topic in a new thread? I would actually like to hear your opinion on that situation! Anyways, I can't find a clear and accurate story on this case anywhere, so I've for the most part have given up searching. From what I understand, this seems to be a rather straightforward self-defense case. I do believe Zimmerman had the right to defend himself if he thought his life was truly endangered.
After doing some reading up on the case, I do believe Zimmerman had a right to defend himself. I do not think he had a right to follow a person who was wearing a hoodie in the rain, and I do think it was Zimmerman's fault that he was put into a position where he had to end somebody's life. I honestly still can't believe that THAT is being unpunished, even with something small.
Zimmerman had good reason to be following Martin. There had been multiple burgularies reported in the area (which, as it turned out, had been commited by Martin), and Martin was cutting through people's yards. Zimmerman was the head of the neighborhood watch. He had responsibility to his community, and he went above and beyond. It saddens me that so many want to see a good man sent to prison for protecting himself and his neighbors from a dangerous criminal.
I'm not sure discussing this controversial case is the best of ideas. I've been doing my best to avoid it at work, too. :derpe:
My opinion of the case is that it's insignificant to everything except the families involved. Honestly, I hate how our media (left and right and center) are obsessed with these criminal trials when the reality is, it's only the business of those involved. All the coverage is good for is causing a stir and getting opinionated people to yell at each other. They should really pay more attention to civil suits that exist to actually affect law and public policy. You know, those things that affect everyone. All these high-profile criminal cases are good for is giving people heated opinions that really have no affect on anything, except perhaps relationships, should there be a fundamental disagreement. All our media is so focused on making as big a stink and as much outrage as possible about the most irrelevant things. Sensationalism is awful, but hey! It makes ratings because people seem to love being pissed off.
Praise The Lord people actually know what matters! Thank you all for restoring some faith in humanity.
Wow. This has to be the most biased and misinformed version of this I have ever seen. Trayvon was walking home, in the (very light) rain with a hoodie on. Zimmerman played 'vigilante' as a Neighbourhood Watchman (When they specifically say at the Neighbourhood watch to NOT engage the suspects in the acts for their own safety) and got a kid killed. If I were walking alone at night, and I saw someone get out of a car and start following me, I'd be afraid for my life. He didn't say he was a cop, didn't ask what I was doing, and didn't say a word. Just followed me. It's Zimmerman's fault that Trayvon is dead. And you compare him to a rabid dog? How shameful. I'm not one to believe in racial profiling at all, but if Trayvon were white, you'd be singing a different tune. Stop listening to FOX news. - - Auto Merge - - For the record, I'm well aware that this most certainly wasn't a racist issue to begin with; the media spun it to make Zimmerman seem like a racist jerk, for lack of better terms that I can actually use here. I do think however that if Trayvon were white, or hispanic, or mexican, things would have been seen a whole lot differently, which is wrong. I hate all of this double standard crap that gets spread around by the media. But hey, it gets ratings and gives the news money! So I guess everything is alright.
