The first city of the Saberai had been built. Their nomadic brethren would continue to travel, but the city did not lack in members. The platform built around an inactive volcano, an the first temple sitting in the middle would serve as a fine first city. Valcian helped his brothers carry the last stone into place on the temple roof before looking up to the sun in the morning sky. "This marks the new way of the Saberai." The workers all jumped from the temple, landing softly. The first of many cities built, and a civilization started.
Ellis stopped and walked up to Domri "A trade hm? Sounds great! But you dont have to give me anything we have more than enough suppiles." Ellis said softly "My have liquid that comes from our gums that makes the scent,." she explained.
The changeling controlled by Domri smiled. "I'll give these changelings to be your slaves." Domri plucked a large leaf from a tree and held it out. "P-Please... The nectar..."
"Haha! My kind doesn't need slaves." Ellis said and took the leaf the cyan slime filling the leaf she smiled and bowed "I hope we cross paths again." she said and Ellis the other Tykes went off in search for the oak tree.
After the storm ceased Arleton left her hut and called for the other Devi and Paragoni to get back to work, Which they did.she then noticed a group of Paragoni try to recreate the "sky bolt" using Aeroix to help them. So far they were failing creating only a few sparks to make fire. She then got news that they had found a herd of cows nearby as well as some berries.
The pack of Tykes finally found the oak tree they were looking for, "Is this suitable, my queen?" torius asked and ellis orderd the males to store the food they've found and hide it in the giant tree while some Tykes coverd the tree with the silme making the tree bark look rainbow colored, once the preparations were complete Ellis headed out with torius to find a tool that will help them carve a hole in the higher level of the tree, one of the Tykes discoverd how to shape rocks into sharp objects. In the moonlight the Tykes almost looked invisble. the 4 female Tykes had to live in the tree with some guards to protect them, Ellis and the rest of the Tykes went back to camp. "Mistress! I think we need more durable houses for our kind to live in." a female Tyke said Ellis wrapped her tail around herself "We'll gather wood now as for you i need you to collect more water." Ellis orderd "Y-yes ma'm! I shall tell the scouts." the Tyke ran out of her tent and 4 female Tykes went to the river to collect more water.
In the month since their arrival, six Lunar Pegasi and two Timber-Wolves had been killed by predators. A small scouting party had sent out to find a suitable location for a permanent settlement. A soldier entered Silver Crescent's tent and saluted. "The scouts have returned, sir. The news is not good." Silver sighed wearily. "Send them in." The surviving scouts told of a massive cave high in the mountains to the north, filled with deadly toad-like creatures, invulnerable to weapons and large enough to swallow a pony whole. "We're calling them 'Rotguts,' sir. They smell like rotten meat. They tore three of us in half before one of the Timber-Wolves figured out how to kill them. He dove right down it's throat, and tore it apart from the inside. We managed to kill twenty, but there were thousands of them." Silver thought for several minutes, and made his decision. "That cave is exactly what we need. We'll leave at nightfall, to wipe out the Rotguts and claim it for our own."
Ellis starting collecting berries from a tree the Tykes call "Death Bark" mainly because the leaves on it were black and the trees darkened the area quite well; even if it was day. The Tykes went to sleep when the sun began to rise, Later on that day and voice could be heard outside of Ellis's tent she tiredly stood up and saw the four female Tykes she sent to the nesting tree with 5 eggs, that was like a thousand eggs for Tykes Ellis took the eggs "The other hundred eggs died." the female Tyke piped up "Get some rest for now, i'll take care of the eggs." Ellis said silently not wanting to wake up the others the four female Tykes bowed and hoverd back to the nesting tree. Now if only the scouts Ellis sent that night would come back with they're new info, the Tykes slept close together as they love the feeling of warmth Ellis went back inside her tent thinking of what to do, when to do it, and how to do it.
Valcian led a group of hunters through the forest at the base of their mountain. Maxima Edge was strapped to his back, the blade nearly touching the ground, and the hilt at his neck. "Be wary. Normally we follow our prey, but in our new ways there may very well be prey disguised, or even a predator." They traveled slowly, some nervously swishing their large tails in the air behind them. "I smell something. Come." He lead his group to a clearing, finding a large stone tablet imprinted with the shape of the sun. "This symbol... We will take this. It is a sign of our new destined prosperity." He pointed to two of the stronger members of his party who nodded and grabbed the large stone. It was far lighter than it appeared. "We continue now."
Once all the Tykes awoke Ellis got out of her tent, a look of determination on her face "We will need to find food and soon...My people can only live without engery for so long..." Ellis thought as her wings twitched. Yet she knew little about this land the Tykes now lived in and she knew little people to drain engery from and draining her own kind was out of the question. Ellis's heart started to throb indicating she was starving as well. She walked out of her tent blocking the sun rays with her arm, "We shall hunt for engery when the light hides behind the clouds, but for now we will search for wood and a feeding ground." all the Tykes cheered at the last part and quickly got to work. Ellis also assisted some Tykes with finding a feeding grounds the group traveled long and hard yet they didn't seem to tire out yet. "Stop" Ellis whisperd after she said that a low gurgling sound could be heard the Tykes licked they're tails after hearing this sound after, they contiued up the hill to find a furry animal with brown fur lying on the ground bleeding Ellis hoverd down next to the animal and shook her head "We contiue our search tomorrow." Ellis said sternly "But misstress! We only seen so much...This creature is dead and aren't you curious of who or what did it?" the Tyke said "And if that predator is still lingering we have nothing to defend ourselves we leave, NOW." Ellis said losing her temper the Tykes nodded and made they're way back to camp.
The battle against the Rotgut horde lasted nearly a month, ending with total victory by Silver Crescent's forces. Of the three hundred Lunar Pegasi that had come through the portal, fifty had been killed. Of the seventy-five Timber-Wolves that had come with them, twenty had been killed. Silver stood amidst piles of Rotgut corpses, grinning. "The cave is ours! We have a home now!" The Rotguts were skinned, and their tough hides were tanned and fashioned into armor. Their meat proved to be foul-tasting, yet edible. Smokehouses and drying racks were built to preserve it. Their huge, razor-sharp teeth were turned into knives and spear-points, providing weapons and tools. Sections of the forest below were cleared, and crops were planted. The felled timber was brought up to the cave, and houses were built. The new town was named "Lunaria," after the Night Princess. Five years after arriving from Equestria, the Lunarians were thriving in their dangerous new world.
Domri summoned the small group back to the hive, which caused them to run back. "B-Bring to me my sweet nectar!" he demanded. The changeling holding the leaf took a step forward, then tripped. There was a brief moment to silence. Domri got up from his stone throne and drew his scythes. He slowly walked towards the clumsy changeling, and one he was in range, he swung his scythe, killing the rulebreaker instantly. "If one is to question my rules, they are to be punished."
Ellise finally made it though the dence forest and back to camp the eggs that were in the tent already had a crack in them, which meant they were going to train children Tykes, honestly they were hard to take care of but Ellis knew they would someday be a helper that would assist Ellis, it took about 10 hours of impatient waiting for the wooden houses to be bulit, some houses were on the ground while others were high up in the trees Ellis examined her new "House" she looked turned at the Tyke "This will do for now." the Tyke smiled feeling accomplished Ellis was just about to leave the house when... "M-mistress...Some of our kind are...hungry." The Tyke said silently. "Dont you think i know that? Animal soul's wont feed 105 people" the Tyke gave a puzzled look "105? Weren't their only 100?" Ellis sighed "The eggs will be hatching soon so i want everyone to be on high alert and make sure guard is tight." Ellis said and shooed the Tyke out of the wooden house, but Ellis couldn't help but rethink what that Tyke said "hungry..." she thought about that word all day, she knew little of other creatures and if they're here or not, she made a sharp gasp as her heart started to pound faster she tried to calm her breathing and relax.
In the forest edible plants and animals had been discovered, as well as the "Icon of the Sun." A second city was built around a next-door mountain, with a large bridge connecting them. Through several accidents the Saberai learned how to collect and shape obsidian from the inactive volcano. Their population rose and warriors learned how to wield weapons made from the stone, and battle with armor made of the shining black material. Valcian guided his people as well as he could, always trying to learn everything about new discoveries. "This armor is too excessive. The gold would make me show in dark locales. I will take the standard, thank you." He shoved away the armorer.
Ellis heard a knock on her wooden door, she stood up and lazily walked to the door figuring out how to open it, "We have found many creatures when we were traveling." Torius said placing the dead animals on the table, "Those are alot of creatures, thats enough to fill our hunger for at least a few days, tonight we will absorb they're engery." Ellise said and torius chuckled softly "Yes my queen, i will notify the others of this." and with that Torius left Ellis's house she walked out as well to see all the Tykes in a large circle they're eyes shining red from hunger, dead animals were given to each and everyone of them Ellis and Torius sat in the middle of the circle as all the Tykes absorbed the souls from the animals, the soul was a greyish color as the orb floated down they're throats. "We need to set out and find more ground tommorrow..." Ellis thought.
Despite frequent attacks by Rotguts and other predators, the population grew steadily over several generations to nearly two-thousand, with an almost equal number of Timber-Wolves. It became common practice for a Timber-Wolf to choose a single Lunar Pegasus to hunt and fight beside, and the symbiotic relationship between the two races assured that both stayed strong. With the population growing, it was decided that the Lunarians needed to expand. One hundred years after leaving Equestria, the new village of Everfree was founded. Lunaria was getting bigger.
(Dont you think yout moving along with the rp too quickly? I mean, the rest of us are still in the stone age.)
(So am I. I have only advanced my population, not my technology. The timelines will synch once the Lunarians encounter another race. Also, this would have been better posted in OOC Chat.)
"Lord of the mountains. We have discovered what appears to be a new village belonging to an unknown species in the west distance forest." Valcian immediately jumped to his feet and thanked the scout. "Organize a party. We will travel there." "My lord, you should stay he-" "No. Our forces are trained fighters. We will seek peace before all else. If they seek otherwise..." He pulled Maxima Edge off the wall beside his throne. "We will show them how strong mountain cats are." The team approached the new town through the forest, a good ways away from their mountain. Stopping on the edge of the forest, hidden with their black armor. "They appear to be... horses? With wings... How strange. Team, sheath all weaponry, these are not fighters, they are ordinary villagers." With their swords and spears strapped to their backs, they approached the village, exiting the forest. Tall humanoid's in shining black armor. (in case it wasn't obvious, the sun-worshipping cats are encountering the moon-worshipping pegasi.)
Ellis looked at the nights sky the air was thick and silent, the Tykes were right now confused on what to do next. Sure; they had food, and water. But they lacked weaponry and armor as the Tykes sat there whispering to each other, Ellis stood they're her eyes blank and her tail swayed back and forth. Her mind was set on so many things...How many houses should we bulid? Will we move to a new land again? What happens when winter arrives? Ellis was mentally exhausted she walked out of her house and all the Tykes looked at her, she finally spoke "We have no weapons, or armor...And that is a problem so we'll find a way to forge weaponry first. Any suggestions?" Ellis said and one Tyke raised his hand "There are some rocks around the area, but they are not in the forest. Its in a valley." he said. Rocks could be made into spears or daggers...They're were only two Tykes who were blacksmith's and one who was a tailor. She sighed at the thought of using poor weaponry. "Very well, get to work." She said lazily and the Tykes disapeared behind the trees while some stayed behind to protect they're queen.
