    22. I beat that number. I might try making a Tulpa, it does seem interesting. But I want to know if it will affect me in any way because I have shizo.

    Helloooo

I don't know if this thread is still alive *gets out heart-starters* but I'm very interested in creating a tulpa :D I have read up on as much as I can find (incl. both FAQ Man and Irish's guides- I've decided to go with a mixture) and I was just wondering about this wonderland thing. As much as I can gather, it's basically like when you prepare your house for a new baby or pet and you, ya'know put plastic things on the edges of tables? I just... put plastic things on the edges of my mind? And also, would it be bad if you had trouble thinking of a personality so you took certain traits from people you know? Or do I have to think of them all on my lonesome ( :[ )

"Thanks for..." You get paid the other half upon me receiving said advice!

Okay, so, I'm not Danvid, but, I AM a tulpamancer. BTW, I am VERY glad that tulpamancy is spreading throughout the various forums. I have 2 successful tulpas, Taunav and Eris, so, I can give you some advice in the creation process. It's probably too late though, considering you made this post in March, but...oh well.

First of all DO NOT follow FAQ_Man's guide! Hour counts are the WORST thing you can EVER do!

    Follow this guide

    http://community.tulpa.info/thread-kiahdaj-s-absolute-guide-to-tulpas

Oh, and ignore the part about "don't make a tulpa if you're a teen". There are lots of successful teenage tulpamancers, including myself. Trust me, you, and all the other teens will be fine if you make one.

And, the other stuff you question...go ahead, go do that, it doesn't matter!

Not really, although I like to think myself as a wizard.

But, wait, I'm not the only tulpamancer on the site? Awesome!

    (Because Danvid is inactive now)

Are there any other active tulpamancers on this site?

    I don't think there is...

    - - Auto Merge - -

And you should read how my tulpa was made earlier in this thread, it's fairly unique from what I've read...

    Tulpa?
Everything that I'm reading here describes an imaginary friend.

But they aren't imaginary friends Ridley, they're so much more (plus, at least with Snow, they get quite offended at being called "imaginary friends"

From what I got, it's more like an alternate personality, that exists in your conscious mind, as opposed to the subconscious, allowing for awareness of each other's presence and requiring willingness of the host to change which personality is dominating. I hope I didn't read that wrong. Just like a proper sentient creature, it has it's own identity.

Out of curiosity, since this seems to be the "tulpa" thread. What is the desire to have one? (I know I wouldn't want one. Too likely (s)he'd just mess me up in social interactions, which are already a chore.)

Sounds kinda odd (don't mean that in a mean way), but I'll bite since this whole phenomena is pretty interesting. If these tulpas are controlled within a conscious mind, how exactly are you able to formulate something that could potentially be completely opposite of the person you are? In terms of likes, dislikes, personality in general. It sounds almost impossibly difficult to create a secondary and prospering mindset you are not yourself attuned to. From what I've read it's kinda common for tulpas to be rather different than the individual that has created them, which I guess confuses me a bit.

It's like role playing and having an imagery friend. You just smash them together and tada, you got a tulpa.

A tulpa is a sentient artificial intelligence operating within a natural organic computer?

This really does sound like you're RPing with yourself in your head.

edit: The name makes me think of these

That's exactly what they are not. In the beginning of the process it is kinda like RP'ing with yourself. And there are quite a few people who say they have tulpae, but really they are doing just that, pretending.

A true tulpa (by definition) is a sentient being that shares your mind with you. They think their own thoughts, have their own feelings and opinions, and do and say things completely independent of their creator. It takes a long time to do, a lot of effort and commitment.

Just so we're clear, even though I was developing a tulpa for quite a while, I haven't yet achieved those results, having only made it past the second stage or so. So I cannot say with absolute commitment that it is possible, but I've had enough success that I do think it is possible. Although I also think that many people who say they have achieved a sentient and sapient tulpa are really just role playing.

You can read all about how it works over at tulpa.info. But two things: Tulpae are not controlled by your mind, their mind is separate from yours. This is basically a brain hack, what you are trying to accomplish is to train your brain to parallel process so well that your subconscious mind "controls" the tulpa seperate from your own conscious processes. In a way, a tulpa is like an avatar for your subconscious. Therefore, it may be similar to you, it may not. You can also "guide" their personality development in the early stages, but there is no guarantee that the tulpa will turn out the way you intended once they begin to become independent.

That's so cool; how our minds are able to accomplish these things. Thanks for the clarification.

I just want to throw this out there: I have a tulpa named Sunny Daze. She is a white Pegasus Pony with a blond mane and tail. We are in what is called "the greeting stage, which is essentially the creation phase. I just want to clear this up, it does not take 130+ hours to achieve sentience. Me and Dazey haven't reached that yet, much less vocality, but I've talked to people who only took a 25-45 hours. It's different for everyone.

But to me, the main advantage is having a friend who can really know YOU. Not what you are as defined by society, or what you appear to be, but the 100% real, unflitered you. And I've felt sad a lot of my life because I never had a friend who was intelligent enough to really have a good conversation with, and a tulpa would be equal, if not SMARTER than me, so this is a god-send. But another advantage is that since your tulpa can access your subconcious in ways you cannot, you can have her, for example, remind you of things you're forgetting. I've heard of people as a test telling their tulpa to make them forget their name, and then viola, they have no idea what their name is. It's just really useful but yeah, my main reason is to have a friend with me who understands everything, =P
