After taking my time and deciding where I lay on this subject, I'm willing to say a blocked room is unnecessary. The RP and Casual RP chats were created with just that in mind: RP and Casual RP. Over time, seeing as we never had to use them that way, they just became the two RP channels. If one was full, you'd go to the other instead. Now that we're having separation issues, I say we enforce what the two chats were meant for again. The RP chat should have the rules mentioned, with bannable offenses for participating and not being within quality (and arguing about it, I should add), and Casual RP for those who don't fit the qualifications. Of course, those allowed in the RP chat should also be allowed in the Casual RP chat to keep mingling between the two groups going. If a Casual RPer feels up to the task, they can come into the RP channel and ask for help. Everyone wins!

And then there's the issue of those who hold themselves high enough, when they're clearly not. If the two chats are to be separated again, the RP chat's rules should be written out clearly on what defines a good RPer. Some leeway should be added to prevent annoying "But I'm close enough!" comments as well.

And guys, mods not being around doesn't mean justice cannot be done. Take a screencap, make a log, report it to someone when they get on! If you feel justice HAS to be done immediately, check the main site and PM a mod that's currently on. A majority of the staff has chat powers, so one of them could easily get on to handle a problem.

'Tis what I'd like to see happen and whatnot.

    Can of Iron Brew?!

I'll think on it and get Eight to do the same. It's only one solution, after all.

I wholeheartedly like this idea. Why shouldn't the people who work harder than the others and making the role-plays worthwhile, not get a well constructed RP? Back when I was just a member, (Not saying I was the best role player, just that I put a little more effort in than some people.) I was often infuriated by people who just didn't take it seriously.

I think that it should just be a rule that if you're going to role play, you ought to be able to communicate well. BUT. If someone is roleplaying incorrectly, it would help to politely ask them to change how they are doing things. If they don't, then they're disrupting. If they rage, they're disrupting. They can either step up or step out.

Also, don't try to join role plays with people who can't type and then try to change THEIR roleplay. If they are all happy with their illiteracy, then just leave them alone and find somewhere else to RP, as if you invaded their RP and told them to speak correctly, I feel like that would be YOU disrupting. Do you see what I mean?

Anyways. That's all I really have to say here, for now. :3

Mainly, it is the time I get on, 2pm AEST to 2am AEST that there seems to be a minor lacking of mods... and 4-8pm AEST is were there are commonly NO mods...

As a suggestion to this idea, I'd recommend that for serious RPs, people should try to maintain a minimum character requirement for posts to help ensure things maintain a certain grade of RP. Now obviously not all posts would require this limit because there are literally limitless circumstances possible, but this is just something people should be willing to strive towards for the most part.

As another suggestion, in said chat, there should be a strict enforcement of rules we already have.

If those are enforced, mixed with a standard for length on posts, then the rest should fall into place because you'll have quality, detailed posts in one hand, and actions that adhere to a certain standard of realism in the other. You have to remember, you can't decide what is good RP and what is bad RP. RP quality is extremely subjective, so you can't simply just let "the good RPers" in, but what you can do is set certain regulations to ensure that everybody puts forth a certain amount of effort and thought into how they RP.

So yeah, there shouldn't be an blocked room, but, the people who inhabit the room should strive to keep their room up to a certain standard, y'know? The mods can't be expected to do everything, if you guys want this, you have to put forth the effort as well; not everything is going to be handed to us.

If this chat becomes a great success, I'm likely going to pop by a bit more often to RP. I may not be into MLP anymore, but I can deal with Pony RP for quality RP.

Also, shout out to how I'm the one to go to if there's a question with the rules, y'all might want to fix that when you can, I mean, I left back in April.

Seems straightforward enough. I think the two RP rooms just need to be used for what they were actually designed for. The casual RP room was for the beginner RPers who might want some tips and advice from those with more experience. The rules are more light in here, since it's intended for learning. The actual RP room is the one where the rules should be more strictly enforced, and the more serious RP happens. Just my take.

Also, I have pointed that out already Zephyr. Surprised nobody has changed it yet.

This discussion died down despite having a lot of potential in both the preparation we had already set up, and in the positive reception from the userbase.

I'm asking both the staff and the users to revisit this idea and either continue discussion on it or put the idea into action less it die in the water.

We discovered there is an ignore function in the chat that may allow for a certain amount of control towards problematic users that might help the situation. Otherwise, we're making a few final touches to possible new rules but our time getting them done has been cut short by outside forces. Please, be patient and we'll get more of a solution out when we can.

There's so much that could be done with the chat, with marginal effort. You could limit certain user groups to certain chat rooms for e.g. and you can also have opt-in and "application" user groups.

People need to apply for advance rp group before they can access advanced roleplaying chat rooms?

You could even set it so that if a user accumulates a certain amount of posts in the rp section they're automatically considered a veteran roleplayer.

+1 for doing something, anything...?! ^^
At least make S.P.I.K.E give you a brief overview of each room, he only does it for General Discussion at present.
