The Everpony Awards (Concept)

I would love to see this happen!
Though there would of course have to be some sort of criteria for the winners

 

The idea sounds good except for the favorite whatever since, as stated multiple times before, would turn into a popularity contest.

Question though: How will we disconcern the winners of an award from everyone else? Surly a mention on the CP is not enough and title could mean little since any can change their title, so how about say a small icon near their username on posts? Maybe a special user or permission (Although, no permission changes are really needed) group for the recipients?

 

This was my original idea when I said usertitles.



These are mine from another forum. They look real nice under my username. The first one is for contributing by buying at least a 3 month subscription. The second one is for having 800 posts and a certain amount of Thanks/Rep. The last one is for being a member for a specific amount of time.

Now, these particular ones can't really be here, except the 'Old School' one, but you guys get the idea.

 

That can work. That can work very well.

When a member is awarded, there should be this badge or shield to indicate "What you've done to win this and so forth". Bronze, Silver and Gold is something i'm trying to grasp, that sounds like a popularity contest in that POV. However, i like this idea

I made a gold pony with diamond eyes. if i could make the background transparent you'd see it also has sparkles.

I was bored and did this because i have nothing better to do.
I support the gold, silver, bronze.

 

wont it be easier to not have specific titles and stuff and instead have, like, some sort of general kudos or something? like, if you like a post, you give the guy kudos, and they get a cookie counter below their username or something like that. keeps it simple and you can have all the bragging rights. if you really want fancy titles, you can cash some of those points in for a fancy title picture thing you want. yeah, you can do whatever, and people can disagree, but whatever. people will disagree anyways. its what they do

Realtalk, I wonder what else we could do to actually promote this without it becoming something that people are willing to cut throats for? (Metaphorically.)

Undoubtedly some people are going to be upset if they try their hardest and find that someone else got an award. Perhaps a runner-up, etc?

 

Of course. Some people try their hardest at something and yet fall to pieces when they find out that somebody else won it. We should do this to keep up that 'Morale'

 

Maybe there could be a most money donated to EP thingy?

after reading the thread and how people had problems with this kind of thing before, i thought of a solution. just make the guy giving points lose as many points as he gave. so, if everyone starts with 100 points, and you give 5% of your points per like, you will quickly have people with more points than others. to make sure that no one has all the forum's points, make losing points round down, and giving points round up. because of rounding error, there will be point inflation. so no one will go below about 20 points, and if you want a higher minimum, you can at midnight take 10% of each person's points, pool them up, and spread them out evenly. then you just strap a high score list on to the thing and you have instant competition and bragging rights
