    Congrats on the job!

Yeah, I always figured as much. I used her before I had more specific cards, so I'm kind of a hypocrite anyway.

Even as much as I liked a lot of the cards from Scars of Mirrodin, I definitely think it was unbalanced. Innistrad did a much better job. So, so much better. And Return to Ravnica is also a lot of fun; I'd put it behind Innistrad, but it's still fun. And Theros looks interesting so far.

Because of the turns this conversation has taken, I'm actually working on a UW humans deck (with maybe a couple angels and some Azorius).

I wouldn't call it hypocrisy if your knowledge or your other options were limited at the time, it's more like learning. Kinda like how I used to think I was a green player until I got more cards. XD

Now the only time I play green is when it's blue. :D

And yeah, from a story standpoint, Scars was a good block. I mean, it wouldn't be nearly as interesting a story if it were like "Ooooh, you remember Phyrexia? WELL THEY'RE BAAAAACK--and they get killed again, lol gotcha". It's more compelling to have the good guys lose once in a while. But it sure wasn't fun to actually be those good guys, and mechanically the whole block made you feel every minute of their asskicking. New Phyrexia was just a veritable "f**k you" to anyone who was playing Mirran. x_x

Innistrad kept the game interesting even in Avacyn Restored, 'cause the story didn't outright tell who won. It just goes "Avacyn's back, Griselbrand's back too, MORTAL KOMBAAAAAAAAT" and the rest is left to the imagination. I don't know where RTR ended up, but Theros is looking interesting with the whole Greek mythology theme. Maybe I'll pick up a box at some point to see what it's about. I would have done so earlier this month when I sold some ~$200 worth of cards, but I bought food with it instead. Being unemployed is boring.

Also hmm, UW humans. Does Theros have any good support for that kind of thing? I dunno, but outside of something like Azorius, I don't normally think of humans as being a blue thing. lol

    I love MLP headcanons.
It's always fun to see how different people can use the exact same information to arrive at wildly different conclusions.

You make a fair point, but I don't see how deregulation will affect the price.

Yeah, most people run WR and WG human decks. But I happened upon a very interesting strategy when I played Azorius, and decided to use a couple of those cards, combined with some white creatures from Innistrad and blue cards for countering/draw/return to hand effects.

    Currently it's looking like:

    Creatures:
    Avacyn, Angel of Hope x1
    Lavinia of the Tenth x2
    Riders of Gavony x4
    Mentor of the Meek x3
    Azorius Arrester x3
    Champion of the Parish x4
    Elite Vanguard x4

    Non-creature Spells:
    Essence Scatter x4
    Righteousness x4
    Unsummon x4
    Preordain x4

    Lands:
    Glacial Fortress x4
    Azorius Guildgate x2
    Plains x10
    Island x7

    Sidedeck:
    Lavinia of the Tenth x1
    Tandem Lookout x4
    Azorius Arrester x1
    Gather the Townsfolk x3
    Negate x4
    Azorius Guildgate x2

One of the big questions I had to ask myself with this deck was whether I wanted to include cards like Sleep and Frost Breath to tap my opponent's creatures and by extension make mine virtually unblockable. Frost Breath would be a fine addition, but Sleep is the card I'm gnashing my teeth over. It's great, but it's kinda fights with Riders of Gavony in the mana curve. I might add it in and side out Riders of Gavony in favor of Tandem Lookout. That's what I'll decide in testing.

Whether I keep Essence Scatter or Negate in the main deck (or both) just depends on the situation. Mentor of the Meek is a good side-out for Tandem Lookout, which modifies the mana curve. Currently, I prefer Mentor of the Meek. Avacyn, Angel of Hope is just a fun one-of that can be sided for a few choices in the side-deck.
