Well, since this still seems to be the most popular thread on this corner of the internetz: http://www.everypony.com/forums/showthread.php?13432-Even-if-the-morrow-is-barren-of-promises :Trollestia:
I think it was a joke, but I also think it's super funny to laugh at. Good advice! I did Unsummon for when I play against my roommate because he loves Auras and a one-mana bounce of an enchanted creature is awesome. But yeah, Negate is a much more balanced choice. I also think I agree with siding out the Preordains because there doesn't seem to be much need for it. It's just been a failsafe against mana droughts, but with a low curve I don't worry about that too much. Plus, Mentor of the Meek gives me some draw so I can stand to lose the Preordains. Angelic Overseer is a badass card, as is Herald of War. If I decide to make this deck a but more late-game oriented, then I'll add Herald of War for sure; I've got one and I think my brother has another. I've also considered Spare From Evil and Mass Appeal, but I never seemd to draw Mass Appeal at the right time. Spare From Evil, on the other hand, I could see myself playing if I took out Riders of Gavony and added in something else, like Fiend Hunter. I'm also debating between Increasing Devotion and Avacyn, so that will probably be dictated by whether I choose a mid or late game control strategy.
This is why I do low vit runs. If everything kills you in one hit, then being cursed is actually better! (You have souls on transient curses)
Wait wat? Low vit runs? Transient curses? I'm a noob. - - Auto Merge - - Also this. The Fedora of Enlightenment. Feel its logic wash away your ignorance.
Better quote this, don't wanna be friendzoned. Also, it seems spilling orange juice in your ps3 and on your PSG DVDs doesn't ruin them. #swag
Auras. XD I used to wrestle with auras all the time when I was a noob, 'cause a lot of them do cool stuff but they set you up for card disadvantage. True enough that Unsummon is an easy way to kill those and delay a creature at the same time; only thing you'd have to worry about is Rancor, in which case you can easily sideboard in Revoke Existence, Erase, or Devout Chaplain for easy gtfo. As for dealing with mana droughts, I don't think UW has much going for it... the best I can think of is Treasure Hunt. At its worst it's 1U to draw you a card, but at it's best, well, last time I cast it with my Grixis deck I got five cards. XD Other than that you could maybe use Halimar Depths or scry creatures such as Augury Owl. Or Crystal Ball for repeatable scry. All of these are more mana than Preordain (except Halimar Depths that is, lol), so you may want to stick to Preordain depending on what they'll do to your curve. we should just make a magic thread lol
That's not a bad idea. Usually when I realize my curve messed up is after I play my second land and I don't draw another. So, with a fair number of 1-mana creatures, Preordain is definitely something I will be siding (at least). Augry Owl is a card I used pretty well in my old UW Fliers deck. I just threw together a mono-red deck (RDW rocks!) made out of scratch cards. I'm gonna play my roommate and see what happens.
I've been laughing non-stop at this for the last five minutes.
Thank the gods I never had any classmates that played RDW. My decks are all too slow to survive. XD Let me know how it goes, I wanna see if he handles it. lol
Much ragequit was had. I just popped his creatures whenever he played them, all while tossing mine out. It was just spare cards, so I was surprised how well it did. Spoiler: DECK LIST Creatures: Stormblood Beserker x4 Lightning Mauler x3 Sparkmage Apprentice x3 Goblin Fireslinger x4 Goblin Arsonist x4 Somberwald Vigilante x3 Non-creature Spells: Fireball x1 Pyretic Ritual x1 Incinerate x4 Arc Trail x4 Lightning Bolt x4 Shock x4 Lands: Mountain x21 I didn't end up siding at all, so the sidedeck I threw together was pretty irrelevant. Some highlights: Arc Trail, which I was doubtful about, put in a ton of work. He tossed out creatures non-stop and I always had answers. Incinerate, Lightning Bolt and Shock all put in work to that end as well, though to a lesser degree on the individual level. Incinerate also won a game for me, which was cool. I never used Pyretic Ritual or Fireball, though while goldfishing they were both helpful if I got bad draws. Goblin Fireslinger was very helpful (for damage and for bumping up Stormblood Beserker), but Goblin Arsonist helped a lot as well. Goblin Arsonist made defending while burning easier. Somberwald Vigilante never really made a difference, mostly because I didn't get to use his ability. However, I do like him a lot. He's helped me win games in the past. Sparkmage Apprentice was amazing. Lightning Mauler put in a ton of work, but the real star of the show was Stormblood Beserker. He hit my opponent nearly every turn he was on the field (thanks to the haste given by Lightning Mauler in some instances). He was also unblockable, because he needs to be blocked by two or more creatures, so I consistently removed one of my opponent's creatures and proceeded to attack with a Stormblood Beserker for three damage. For some perspective, that's like a Lightning Bolt every turn. I won on turn five the first game, and turn four the second game; it was a shut-out match with the second game being a perfect win. I love American Dad so much.
Oh, you mean that one cartoon that in no way resembles Family Guy? It's one thing to rip off someone else's ideas (lolSimpsons), but another thing entirely to rip off your own ideas and make a second cartoon that's exactly the same as the first. <_<
I contest that. Now you're talking about Family Guy vs. The Cleveland Show. Sure, on the surface Family Guy and American Dad are almost exactly the same thing, but when you get down to the comedy, American Dad is so different from Family Guy. I have enjoyed Family Guy in the past, but would remark that American Dad uses more subtle humor. I think Family Guy is often funny because it is not subtle (South Park is another example of this), but American Dad is much more below the surface than a Family Guy rip-off. I was hesitant to even sit through an episode when I first saw it. Where Family Guy pushes a joke or agenda, American Dad just is. It just gives a story with no focus on providing a punchline. And hey, if you don't like it, that's cool.
