Hey there! So, I know there are a ton of you that like My Little Pony conventions. Well, would you like to help make one happen? Join the Everfree Northwest staff team today! Currently, there are a few key positions open that the convention is looking to fill. If you would like to just be general staff, and not one of the listed positions, applications will be open in a few months. Right now, there are just a few key members of the team that we still need. Email staff@everfreenw.com if you are interested or you would like more information about these specific openings. So, without further ado, the open positions!

    Registration Lead:
Everfree Northwest is currently seeking to hire the leader of the Registration team. This is a very important job—after all, there wouldn’t be a convention without attendees! The Registration Lead will work with the IT department to create the best registration experience possible for attendees, both online and day-of the convention. They will need to develop a plan of action for taking care of registration at con, including requesting supplies and planning ways to improve the structure of lines and the way Registration is run as a whole if necessary. For those who love planning and organizing, this is a job for you!

    Visual Arts Lead:
The Visual Arts Lead of Everfree Northwest will be responsible for planning and coordinating the arts and crafts room at the con, and perhaps a few other art related events. This will require prior planning and work throughout the year. Visual Arts is a sub-department of Events, and can turn to the Director of Events for advice or aid if necessary, although they will likely be equipped to handle the duties of the position on their own. This is a great position for someone who is very in tune to the fandom art scene, and loves every creative thing the fandom outputs.

    Video Production Lead:
Do you have a passion for videography and video editing? Than this is the job for you! The Video Production Lead will work to create promotional videos advertising for the convention throughout the year. In addition, they will work alongside the Director of Events to work on any visuals that will be needed for the mane stage at the convention. These visuals will need to be created throughout the year, and the Video Production Lead will also be responsible for setting up and running them at con. Any other video production needs the convention has, the Video Production Lead will handle as well!

    Answer Desk Manager:
One of the first people both attendees and staff will turn to at the convention, the Answer Desk Manager is sure to be a fast paced and busy job! The Answer Desk Manager will be in charge of answering questions and providing information to both attendees and staff, and must remain positive! Customer service skills are a must for this job! The Answer Desk Manager will also be in charge of their own staff team at the con. The Answer Desk will be a hub of information of all kinds, and the staff manning it will need to be as informed as possible about all details of the convention events and spaces. This is sure to be a fun and fast moving job!

    FAQ!

    When is the convention?
    July 4-6, 2014.

Do I have to be local?
Nope! You do have to attend the convention for most positions though, but during the year it doesn't matter where you live.

Do I need to be experienced?
Nope! You just need a willingness to learn and be taught how to do the job you're volunteering for.

    Is there pay?
No, Everfree Northwest is non-profit, and all jobs are done on a volunteer basis.

Anything else, please feel free to comment!

In the past I've worked at gaming conventions that reimbursed you for hotel rooms, or they would pay for some rooms and have you bunk with other volunteers; Does Everfree do anything like this? Also does Volunteering get you a badge to whole convention? I'm semi-local in Bellingham but if I definitely couldn't afford to drive there and back more than one day, being broke ain't no joke! Otherwise I think I'm well suited to the answer desk manager position, I've got a lot of patience with people asking the same questions all day long and small business manager experience.

Everfree works a little differently than other conventions (which I personally still find odd myself), partially because it is classified as a Media convention. In the past, Everfree gives you a badge for the NEXT year after you volunteer, regardless of if you staff again. However, this questions would be better sent to staff@everfreenw.com, as they may be able to help come up with a solution if you have financial barriers.

Maybe I'll just go day as a patron, see what its all about, meet some staff and see whats up! Then I can volunteer next year, once I've actually have to been to convention at least once I'm sure I'll be more qualified to answer questions! I'll just have to change my x-mas wish list to say a day in the Everfree forest instead of Saints at Seahawks tickets(sorry Drew!):zebra:

Hey, that sounds like a great idea! But let me tell you, you're going to totally want a full weekend pass! One day of pony will not be enough for anyone, I wager! And no matter when or if you decide to volunteer, I'm sure we could always use you!

Hey, I saw you briefly last time at Everfree. I think. Assuming you're the one from Whitetail Woods.

It would be so much easier to do a full weekend pass if you guys were to hold this thing in Bellingham or Kent! plenty of relatives to stay at near Kent! hehe, well see if I can wrangle up some part time work to help pay for this once I start school in Dec. Any hotel deals for con-goers that are super awesome? like under 250 for the weekend would be nice ^_-

Oh yeah, the con usually has a great deal for the weekend! Also, I currently live in Kent, and it's an easy one bus away from the Kent Station, that runs very late in the evening and begins early in the morning (there may be a few, actually). Since the convention is so near the Sea-Tac airport, it's pretty easy to get to since it's heavily used by travelers. The bus I use I believe only takes about 30 minutes to get to the convention center, and stops right across the street at the light rail station.

Anyway, hotels! I prefer hotel, as the con goes all night (literally, there are activities open all night) for the three days, and the concerts tend to go pretty late. The convention always has a deal with the hotel the con is at (Sea-Tac Hilton) (see last years deals). There is even a room share section on the EFNW forums, so you can split a room with up to four people. There are several other hotels in the area, including the Clarion, Marriott, Holiday Inn, Rodeway Inn, Radisson, Red Lion, and many others. As mentioned, the convention center/hotel is practically right next to SeaTac airport, so hotels of varying prices are abundant! And don't forget, sharing is caring! Seriously, room share makes it so much cheaper. :) Invite some friends, or meet some new ones!

Remembering all this info in April when it seems people post for the rooms is going to be the tricky part for sure! Wish I could get my sister into this, she's all twilight sparkle with her organization skills especially when it comes to cons, couldn't do a san diego comic con without her; But I can't even get her to watch 1 episode, even pushing Doctor Whooves hasn't worked(she's a major Doctor Who fan)! No one has friends in Bellingham it's like the anti-ponyville so I'll just have to meet some new friends and then cry at end cause I won't see them till next con! As always you've been eerily helpful. :ahh:

Thank you! I hope you do make some new friends to room with, and I hope to see you there. As I said before, I've been working for Everfree for the past two years, and I've lived in Washington myself, so I'm familiar with the area a bit. Also, I don't want anypony to miss this super amazing convention!

Hey all! Everfree Northwest has now opened general applications! For those who didn't want to be in one of the higher up positions we were hiring for (although there are likely still some available for those who do), and prefer to be a general staff member, here is the link! Everfree Northwest is July 4-7, at the SeaTac Hilton in Seattle, Washington. For those who love pony, send in your application, or if you don't feel like staffing, buy your tickets today! It's cheaper the earlier you purchase! :D
