Greetings Everypony! We're now taking entries for side-quests in the EP RPG. You have two options; you may post them here, where other ponies may share their opinions, or send them to my faithful Apprentice, Legion. Generally we'll want to know the following: Difficulty: You can either go from easy to really hard, or go for a level number, (from 1 to 99.) Hook: How does the character find out about this? If it's not something enticing, a player may just skip over it. Parts: Is this a one-shot, or are you looking to tie in multiple side-quests? Reward: What do you intend the player to get out of this? Preferred City: What town would you prefer it happens in? Content: Go ahead and write all about what happens in your side-quest here. Now, here is... in fact... a list of cities... Spoiler: CITIES! Adulscentia A quiet and small town nestled away behind the walls of an ancient ruins, which protect the town from monsters in a forest by the bay. There’s a low likely-hood of side quests being available here, since it’ll be a short stay in this town. Mining Town A city just outside of a large mine that brings out a lot of ores which get broken down and transported to the capital. The plant had been shut down recently, due to the monster outbreak, but there are always prospectors trying to get a leg up by paying for ponies to explore the mines, or mountains surrounding for some of the long lost treasures. Ziffael A city to the North of the Mining Town. This city has come under the affliction of a terrible plague, and many of the characters there are sick, trying to fix the sickness, or shopkeepers in the un-quarantined zone. The players go through this town twice, coming back to save the town from the disease. Talos A port city/castle fortress that’s built at the edge of the starting continent. During the time the players are there, its ports are closed to trade, due to a war with a neighboring kingdom. Still, it’s a big city. Inter-Dimensional Cities In the alternate worlds of the Dark Lords, there will be many towns and cities available for the players to roam through, by choice or otherwise. Strange things can happen here, but the cities will be more specifically determined by the Dark Lords. Temple of the Occult For a brief time, the players get to consort friendly-like with their enemies. This can provide some interesting interaction opportunities. Shaz’deraga A city built deep in the jungles, bustling with trade, fine traders, interesting side-paths, and a fair number of recruit-able characters. Port Asherton An optional city, filled with potential. Not too far from Shaz’deraga, it was founded by colonists, rather than natives. Tribal Village A village full of tribals. In the mountains. Really, quite what you’d expect. Port Randall A grand sort of pompous port city. Where the colonists have most of their noble types. Guradis Way in the North, and pretty cold, this place is heavily defended, and surrounded by some of the rougher monsters in the game. Zazzil An oasis city, not far from a lot of ancient ruins. This is where adventurers roam normally. This city may be the last opportunity to showcase side-quests. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Mining town. Diamond dogs. A local miner asks the player to get rid of a few diamond dogs, then kill those in the mine, then kill the trio of diamond dogs that rule the local problem. Three quest, from easy to hard, who will give the player access to loot in the mine, and respect from the miners. Maybe an access to a secret shop, who will sell materials or weapons a bit cheaper? DISCUSS!
Difficulty: Easy Hook: Sick stallion found at the edge of the quarantine zone Parts: One-shot Reward: Bits OR a weapon Preferred City: Ziffael Content: The party comes across a sick stallion near the edge of the quarantine zone. The stallion angrily explains that somepony claiming to be a doctor had come to Ziffael, promising to cure the the sickness. After receiving payment from several families, the false doctor took the bits and ran. He is currently hiding out in the safe zone, and because of his sickness, the stallion is not permitted to look for him. The party agrees to help, and finds the doctor hiding somewhere in the safe zone. After a short conversation (Most likely at sword-point), the doctor drops the bits and flees. Upon returning the bits to the sick stallion, he offers his portion of the money to the party. If they insist that he keep it, he instead gives them his unique weapon, which he had planned to use on the false doctor.
Simple, easy to remember. I like it. Spoiler: Also, here's a sneak peak at what the first continent looks like. Starting at the Southern End, our adventurers have mountains between them and the Mining Town. Then there's the choice to go directly to Talos, or go up through Ziffael the first time. Their second time around will be coming down to Ziffael from Talos. FYI: That's stock terrain graphics, they'll be changed.
Difficulty:Impossible Hook:2 Human like figures seen flying over plains Parts:One Reward:Kamehameha Centent: Your party notices 2 human like figures fly over some plains, they go to investigate. Of course since they fly they are able to out pace you, as the group gets closer they hear explosions and see strange lights. As the group finally gets to where the conflict is happening they see that one of the figures is down on the ground with the other standing over him. The remaining human shaped figure turns out to be Vegeta, he attempts to fight the group. Blah blah blah, you win the fight and help the other human shaped figure, this one is Goku. For helping him win he teaches you the Kamehameha.
Difficulty: Varies (first quest is easy, 2nd is medium, 3rd is hard) Hook: Stealth Quest. Parts: 3-Part Quest Reward: Odd weapons (+heals shuriken, +armor sword, etc.) Content: A crime syndicate in Talos, sort of a mafia that "runs" the port, is in hiding during the port close. A very ninja-esque warrior (the quest giver) wants your help taking them down in this time. The enemies are very powerful along the way to the end-quest boss, so the challenge is to avoid them. Each of the three quests is a bit harder to get around and a bit longer than the last, and each ends with a mildly difficult boss battle. (of course, it shouldn't be hard to beat the boss if you didn't have to fight anything on the way to him)
Difficulty: 1st part:5 2nd part:15 final part: 25 Hook: After having him in the party for a short while and completing the previous side missions, the hunter (Robin Hoof) thinks he has found the perpetrator of his family homes destruction and parents murder. Parts: final piece of a couple of his side quests (Think a sort of loyalty mission) Rewards:gold plus follower ability unlock or increase (if thats possible) Preferred City: Port Randall Content: After finding clues at old spots of Robins past and fighting off unknown personal guards at each spot. (The first being Hoof family estates ruins and the second being in a forest with a semi burnt down camp) Robin thinks he has found the location of the Stallion responsible for his grief and torment. The clues bring them to the upper residential district of Port Randall where they encounter the head of the personal guards. After a short fight the hero can chose to interrogate him or let Robin do it. By letting Robin do it unless you have the skill required to talk him out of it, Robin kills the head guard. They then enter the house where depending on whether you let him go or not affects if you get ambushed or not. After another short battle the perpetrator of the crimes reveals himself to be an ex-sheriff now retired. After a longish conversation between Robin and the sheriff a fight ensues against the sheriff and two elite bodyguards
I like that. We'll probably need a few loyalty quests for each team member. Most games with multiple recruits do that, (and since we're mimicking Star Ocean the most, it works perfectly.)
I have too many to suggest, eight. All of my characters are from my own universe, and they all have their own, personnal quest. Envoyé de mon XT886 en utilisant Tapatalk
Difficulty: Very Hard (Around level 85-90) Hook: Through a meeting by a high military officer (Does not sound very exciting, i know. But it was all I could think of.) Parts: One-shot. Reward: Moonsaber (Infinity-1 sword, a katana with the powers of a staff while also providing powerful weapon bonuses), Ardelanian “Crimson Rose” armor ,or instant level up for all party characters and huge amount of bits Preferred City: Guradis Content: Upon completing some important side-quests in the city of Guradis, an important military officer requires the presence of the heroes at the military camp’s main office. Upon entering a previously restricted office room, the officer will tell you through dialogue that one of the dark lords has manipulated an extremely powerful “threat” from a kingdom across the seas and wishes for you to deal with him in any possible way. However, the officer warns you extreme caution as the individual has been considered as a ‘Demi-god’, wiping out entire enemy armies and camps. As the heroes head off, they eventually encounter the “threat” in the middle of nowhere in an alpine environment. Upon asking who he is, he will reveal that he is Venquis Razona from a far away kingdom known as Ardelan and a previously encountered race known as Ryborians (Appear almost exactly like ponies, with the exception of a pale white coat and red eyes), and tells the heroes that he has been corrupted by the Agent of Evil and is attempting to remove said evil. While trying to fight this corruption, he urges the heroes to leave while they still can before the Agent of Evil takes over his mind, turning his mane and eyes a bright purple to indicate he is under the Agents control, while augmenting his seemingly super-equine abilities further. After defeating him in a difficult battle, the corruption ceases to exist and Venquis returns to normal. He then gives the player two choices, kill him for the sins he has committed against his gods or let him go. For both outcomes, he will give the player his personal sword ‘Moonsaber’ and a special armour that grants huge bonuses to the user. If he lives, he will give the heroes a huge amount of bits and will be returning back to his own kingdom across the sea. If he dies, the bit reward is cut in half but will automatically level your heroes up to the next level. (I have at least a dozen ideas for side-quests. Hope you have fun for this one Eight if you like it. If you don't, l'll change it.)
