I told everyone i know. Most don't care. My friend Manny called me gay but i just said haters gunna hate..
Labels, labels, labels. I don't like labels. Sure I'm a brony, but you really ought not make a big deal out of it... It's just an intense media preference, one that you would call a fandom (probably gone too far). My friends mention it every time they see me, but they're nice about it. Strangely enough, I only have a couple brony friends. I sense some people are still in the "closet". As for my parents, I'm pretty sure they know judging from what I watch and whatever I'm drawing on my computer. Of course, they never say anything about it. It's not like they should care because I'm already, for all intensive purposes, considered an adult (and living out of their house, finally).
Me personally, I'm incredibly open about it. I kind of had to be, because my mom came home one day while I was watching it, and there was nothing I could say to make it look like something else, as the remote was pretty far away and I was pretty embedded into the couch XD. Back when I first became a brony, I wasn't very open about it though. Now, I still get the butterflies when I tell people who don't know, but I never let that stop me. So I definitely try to be open about it! =P
So, one day, I'm watching the show with my brother. (He got me into it.) My stepmother walks downstairs and looks at the TV screen and exclaimed "ARE YOU WATCHING MY LITTLE PONY!?!" My brother and I couldn't help but laugh and say "Its a good show." So, she picks up the phone, calls up her mother and says, "Mother, I have failed somewhere in parenthood. My two teenaged sons are watching My Little Pony." And that is how my stepmother found out I was a brony.
I get crap on xbox live sometimes due to my gamer pic but aside from that nobody cares most my fellow art major friends that have not seen it appreciate the art style.
Yeah, my mom knows x3 She thinks its really odd, but she doesn't mind it at all. She even asked me once if i wanted to watch an episode with her x3
Funny story - literally a couple days after I scoped out the show and decided I really liked it, I went to dinner with my family and some family friends, and the subject of bronies popped up. My mom was like "Isn't that just the weirdest thing?" and my pops said something to the effect of "Heh, I'd rather have a gay son than a brony son." As you could imagine, that was pretty damn awkward. Anyway, the cat's out of the bag nowadays. They found out when they realized someone had been watching MLP on their Netflix account (oops). Even though they thought it was a bit weird, they've always known me to be a pretty strange guy, so it didn't really phase them all that much one way or the other. They know I collect merch, frequent brony forums and even attended a convention, and all things considered, they've been pretty supportive. My little sis has probably been the most supportive by far, and even attended that con with me - not to mention wants to accompany me to the next one. I think I've made my first convert...wink, wink. The only one who's been generally unaccepting is my older sis, who relentlessly insisted I was gay for liking MLP. It annoyed me, but I paid it no mind...until I learned that she'd been saying that kind of stuff behind my back as well, at which point it became personal. We had a bit of a fight about it and didn't talk much for a while, but she surprised me the other day on my birthday by giving me a pair of those small plushies you find at Target, one of AJ and one of Pinkie. So for the time being, we cool.
i told my dad a couple of months and he hit m eand told me not to tell mom or anoyne else so i didn;t
The first it came up was last year, while Bronycon was going on. My mother and I where watching the news, which did a small story on it, and I had mentioned in passing that I wished I could go. Wasn't really taken seriously though, so she didn't think much on it. It was sometime later when the t-shirts and plushies started showing up that the whole "what's up with all the pony stuff" started from everyone. So I tried to explain as concisely as I'm capable, even shared a few songs/videos from the show/community with my sisters, none of it ended well. After half a year of being "out", it's devolved to mainly eye-rolls and changing the subject as quickly as possible. As for telling friends, don't have any, so it hasn't come up.
My dad doesn't know yet and my mom does know. I had to prove it earlier this week to her that it's not just for younger kids, and I'm sure she's all right with it. I mean, no one outside of my family knows that I am.
I did, my dad didn't care what I like, my mom thought it was weird, and I can tell she thinks it's really weird and doesn't like it, but she lets me have my choice to support the show. Handled it far better than I thought they would.
Mum found out when I was watching the show one night. I usually watch it when no one is around so I don't get interrupted, but I was trying to get through season 1 at the time and I couldn't wait to watch it. Mum kept entering the room and I'd shut off the TV every time the door opened. She finally caught me off guard and saw what I was watching, she did make a few jokes about it, but other then that, she was pretty okay with it. However, she isn't familiar with bronies, but I can foresee that she'll eventually find out about the fandom and that I'm a part of it. I'm afraid that she may also stumble upon the NSFW parts of the fandom. Those will be some fun questions to answer, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Same with me. My mom doesn't know about the fandom, but she knows I watch the show a lot. She knows I'm almost always online, but she doesn't know what I do online some of the time. Oh, I don't know what I'll do when my family asks about this fandom. You're right on your last statement. I'll, too, will cross over to the bridge when it comes near.
My mom's cool with me and my brother liking 'kiddy' things like my little pony XD She even kind of like's the show herself i think.
