I have a similar opinion. I don't like the term Pegasister, and it doesn't give me a good feeling if I'm referred to as one.
I wasn't saying that 80% of guys are like that, I was saying that the small percentage that are, really make it difficult to want to acknowledge you're female in fear of being harassed and not feeling welcome on a forum. I haven't had issues in the brony community, but other fandoms aren't nearly as inclusive. But even though the brony community has been nice, I still get nervous when someone calls me a pegasister, because I feel like that will open me up to being harassed again. - - Auto Merge - - I understand what you mean. Even though I've had a very good experience in the pony fandom to the point I'll acknowledge I'm female, it still makes me nervous, like I'm going to be judged and not taken seriously. If someone wants to use the term for themselves, or don't feel offence at the term, go for it. But I prefer just to be a brony. Course I would be happy to use a term that describes me as loving my little pony and star trek at the same time. Like SuperWhoLock (Supernatural, Doctor Who, Sherlock)...except NOT TrekkieBro; that just sounds stupid.
Sorry, I didn't mean to put words in your mouth, I was just saying that generally. A lot of guys can be jerks. Especially online where it's impersonal.
Whatever you want to be called, it doesn't matter to me. I used to not like the word pegasister, then it kinda got a ring to it, IDK. Whatever you want!
I think that's true of most internet interaction. We forget that there's an actual person on that keyboard talking to us and we turn into absolute dicks if we don't take that into account.
It reminds me of people getting mad at saying "GLBT" instead of "LGBT". I don't care what term you use, all I know is fighting over it is completely useless and contradictory to the Fandoms belief in Tolerance.
