God lord I want some cake. There's nothing in the house and I have the baking skill of a napalm strike. Considering that I don't want to attempt to suck on a dark, sooty brick covered in icing for half an hour, I've got to focus my attention on something else. My sweet tooth will not rule me while I write to you.

I'll keep this trifle matter underwraps. Butter get on with it or I'll only pecan to go on and on about it.

    Site News

I hope you guys have been preparing your gifts because we will be getting The Christmas Basket rolling this week. We will be taking your submissions and letting you get ready while adding a few extras of our own. As soon as the form is up, we'll be taking in ready for when we randomise and send out each gift to their new homes.

I don't want to mince my pies....Mince my words here when I say this looks like it could be a fun event. Please, give and we'll make sure it lights someone's day up.

    EPRP

EPRP will be the same as last week: trying to move a powerful danger from a friendly giant spider den.

Huh...'Friendly' and 'Giant Spider'. There's a perfectly ordinary sentence.

Aspie Hooves has been making these odd little 3D animated videos. So, to get us in the Christmas Mood, Let's have an awful Christmas Joke. I'm not sure but that could be Aspie himself.

You like music right? Of course you do. Yes, you do; you told me earlier. And you like the music in Friendship is Magic, right? Don't answer, I can see it in your eyes. Your very curious to hear what I have to say now. Also, I can see you in your webcam. You have a little something...right...up a bit. There you go. got it. Your looking good.

Our Friends from Ponyville Live are giving us a Top 30 song countdown on New Year's Eve. That seems interesting so I'd definitely look forward to that!

Hasbro are releasing an official Friendship is Magic Album. So, you have a way of supporting the music we all love directly. As well as a method of owning it legally which we all strive for all the time, all the time, completely. At least, it's something to help support all the musicians and composers that work on the show.

OK, I want a show of hooves here. Fan Warriorness found these out on sale; vinyl pony dolls that look like this.

Now, to get a little conversation going; are these cute? I know that they're small and adorable but...The eye are a little too blank for me. They seem to add a little too much creepy to everything. Am I wrong? Am I right? What?

Oh! And...umm...One of the most heartwarming things I've ever read.

That's it for another week. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go eat Glazed Cherries and hope this craving blows over. Have a good butterscotch.

Wow, that one didn't make sense at all. Get me a Mars Bar stat![/B]

Regardless, good post. I hope the Christmas Basket thing goes well.

I reply within the quote, if I did it right.

Stupid /10char. Why doesn't it count inside the quote? Because it would be difficult. IPBoards doesn't work like that, if I recall correctly.

Well, we all discussed it, and while there's no NSFW material on their site it's true that there is an age limit on signing up there. Of course, we told them that this community, (all of you,) was not their target audience... but, they were willing to pay more than a normal going rate. So, with server dues in mind, they paid for a month.

    The ad is small though.

I thought the deal with pony plushies covered your server cost of ~$20-$30 or has that changed? I understand the difficulties that can ensue with keeping a site like this afloat with funds, but I personally think you guys may have miscalculated how your userbase is going to receive this advertisement hence the thread in complaint box, I'm sure there are others who agree who have not posted yet. It isn't an advert I would have agreed to personally. And there's some questionable issues that can arise with this sort of advert on a site that welcomes minors. How about seeking something with the already instantiated affiliates instead?

From my half of things, I was not enthused, or really interested, but it did come down to a back and forth with Brony Mate, as well as a lengthy discussion with the rest of the staff. (So you know it wasn't just "Money Get!" it actually was a pretty lengthy conversation involving the Staff.)

Ultimately it was a majority rule which led to the decision of letting them rent one month of adspace. So, until just a few days into January.

Also, in other news, one of the staff will soon be tracking our conversations in the staff room and making a sort of "meeting minutes" that can go on the CPs for members to read.

I'll admit i'm strangely interested in this, but for what purpose would members need to know what's being said in the staff room? I'm pretty sure you won't be logging everything, but still. I think that whatever is being said in there should stay there. Unless i'm missing something or misreading what you said.

I think what would be better is simply more inclusion and transparancy on upcoming plans/site changes. The new advert came as a bit of a shocker to some people, what I would learn from that is maybe ask your userbase what they would like to see instead of just sealing a deal. Logs are total overkill, rather unnecessary, and not very professional... I don't think the majority wants to read condensed logs. What do you wish to prove by showing these, that you're doing your jobs? Not saying that to be mean, but you can go about this a lot better.

    Pretty much what Mike said.

You don't have to show logs or whatever. Just be more transparent. People want to know what's going to happen to the site, and to them as a direct result. Posting logs to say 'Look guys we're talking about things' is, quite frankly, the lazy way out that will solve minimal problems in the future; nobody is going to want to read through condensed logs.

For instance, Foxy came up with this wonderful idea for a staff director, someone that'd ensure that the staff would be doing their jobs and keeping up with projects... but the thing is, you guys should be doing that by yourselves. You shouldn't have someone breathing down your neck saying 'Get this done'. You should be properly motivated to do it. Not to mention the last... what, 4 times we tried to have someone on staff manage what we do, they were either ignored, criticised, or too lazy to get anything done?

Now, not all of the staff are like this. There are a few that know what they're doing.

Regardless, if you do think Foxy's idea is a good one, get Dragon on that stuff. He's the best fit for that idea.

Yes, we're aware that you have personal lives outside of the site, yes, we know there is some stuff that can't be fixed in a day, but you can at least put an effort into it instead of disregarding everything people say half the time.

It will be edited of course. So it's basically useless.

who cares, it's an ad. Oh no, not an ad, woe is me, what will I ever do. I've found a simple solution, ignore it. Or as the staff have done, shove it where no one will ever see it. The ad guy is getting screwed now.

I think you described an admin.

I don't know if you're specifically giving me this response or trying to speak in general. But it's not the ad itself that bugged me, it's the premise by which they've included it without a whole lot of regard of how people are going to receive it or how it's relevant to anything that goes on here. Yes, people will probably just block it, so it's a rather pointless thing. Except $

ah, see that's the interesting bit. Why. Is this plush person pulling out and this is the replacement? Did the server or whatever that gives this place it's life support go up? Or maybe the admins may just want so extra money? Who knows, I don't, but I am a peasant so it's understandable that I wouldn't know anything.

I think it's for the radio's cost too, I think they were paying out of pocket for that. I don't believe the server price went up. I don't know what else. Maybe they will buy super cool things for the site? *shrugs*
