It'd really help if they actually advertised their donate button. There was literally no mention of it besides maybe 2-3 posts.

They need to make it more noticeable and actually give donators incentive to do so.

yeah, but didn't the last time someone mentioned giving people anything extra for donating or whatever, everyone complained. Honestly I think we should all chip in for an iron lung.

If radio costs are an issue, they could just get rid of the shoutcast and find some constructive use for the livestream. I think brony music at this point is a dead end though. No one listens to it anymore. (And those that still do could just Youtube whatever song they wanna hear anyway)

It's no one's fault, but that's just how it is. If something is on the verge of dying, find some way to breathe life into it, or find a good replacement to spawn some activity. Just leaving it to die won't improve anything.

Come to the radio and support it guys, I get lonely streaming with almost no one there :'D

Also, I think we still should find a way to get more traffic into the radio, it hasn't had any good activity for a while. If there's something for it that you guys want us to do on it, don't leave us guessing. Sometimes it's hard giving what the site wants when the site doesn't say anything. I personally want another karaoke night. I'm not sure what else we could do on the radio, so give suggestions.

If it helps, i might pop in every now and then, though it probably won't be much. Does anyone on the radio staff actually have an organizing role of sorts? Someone who keeps track of everything and makes sure everyone else keeps on track? Back in the day, Flash did all that, and ever since he left people slowly started losing interest in the radio. Not sure if Flash leaving had anything to do with it though. Just seems like that's when stuff started going downhill.

As for suggestions, there's always a variety of Let's Plays you could do, or reviews of new games/movies. Thing is, that's been attempted in the past and never seems to last very long, usually because whoever hosts those grew tired of it. The radio staff could browse the internet for interesting brony news and the like which they could stream several times a day. Streaming actual episodes, i'm assuming, would probably cause legal issues and whatnot, which is a shame. In the old days, some of the DJs attempted (and usually succeeded) in doing 24 hour marathons. That usually drew in some people, if only to watch the DJ suffer near the end :p. Something else i suggested a long time ago was an impersonations night, which would be similar to karaoke, except you'd just feature people doing imitations of various actors or cartoon characters, etc. Not sure who'd be interested in that, but it's an idea.

Across youtube, you also have those "People react to..." videos. Maybe an "EP Members react to *new MLP episode*" would be interesting, if the community is up for it. It would require someone on staff to spend some time editing all the videos people send in, along with the clips of the episode they're reacting to. It's safe to say there'll be a moderate amount of effort required to keep this going weekly.

And as i said before, i think brony-themed music itself is starting to die off, regardless of what we're doing or not doing. I don't think anything can be done about it unless Season 4 has enough new songs that inspires the old musicians to do something new. It's basically up to them to bring our radio back to life if you think about it. People are tired of the same loop over and over again. (Let's hear that Winter Wrap Up remix again! / Lol, which one? XD)

Something else you could do, though drastic, is remove the general channel from the forum chat (or make it an OOC channel), making the radio chat the only chatbox for regular discussion, and keep the forum chat exclusive to roleplaying. There'd be alot of people who'd hate such a decision though, so i personally wouldn't recommend it.

I'd say those are just about all the options you have, unless i'm missing something obvious.

Hmm... maybe I could Let's Play some Orcs Must Die 2 or Space Pirates and Zombies, but both of those are slightly dated now, aren't they?

As long as it's fun or interesting enough, i don't think it matters if it's outdated.

Well don't they give up on it because no one ever watches it. That seems to be the big across the site thing. Contests or whatever else it may be that occur over a set time always seem to got good for maybe a month at most. Then the members stop doing it or viewing because it's boring or whatever.

this wouldn't happen, maybe 2 episodes. That's all I'd ever see happening regarding it. Plus those react things suck anyway.

I think horse music in general is the real problem, I personally only listen to like 5 brony musicians anymore. After awhile it's just enough. Plus if I want music I'll listen to my own crappy stuff.

I think that is a dumb idea. I try to avoid the radio for many reasons so forcing the radio chat to become the general chat is like google's little youtube job.

There is another option, eliminate it, it doesn't seem to be worth the trouble anymore.

I guess that's an option too. And i admit that i once suggested that, but the thing is, this is an option that should be saved as the very last. And if the staff is serious about wanting to restore the radio to even just a portion of it's former glory, i'd rather not see the radio disappearing just yet.

A method that is a lot more bulletproof and effective is just to go out there and promote it. Our userbase here is a small one, and as such, hoping that people will come to the radio by doing Let's Plays and stuff like that is really kind of ineffective.

What you really need to do is go out and find other sites that will promote EPR instead of just focusing on promoting it here. Whether that means getting another affiliate or getting featured on EQD again is entirely up to you. You just have to put forth the effort.

It's going to be difficult, but at the end of the day, if it works, it's because you put everything on the line.

    Everything on the line?

What would be everything, it's not like they attempt it and if it fails then the site implodes. It might be me but I don't see any dedication into bringing it back. It seems like the best option is to just kill it now.

The radio is the basis of which EP was formed; if the radio goes away, it just becomes another pony forum with nothing special about it to people from the outside.

If the radio dies, you may as well kiss the rest of the site goodbye too.

All these horse forums are basically the same. The other few I've been around, the only difference are the inclusion of 18+ things.

If this sites entire exists is based around a dying radio I think it has bigger problems.

The difference between this horse forum and other horse forums is that we're massively smaller than a lot of the other places. People looking for a robust community will just go to a larger forum. We've only got maybe 30-35 active members here, compared to other larger forums of around 70-80 active members.

I think one of EP's charms is its focus on individuality and it's unique concepts that it was founded on, all of which started on the radio. Like I said, if the radio goes down, then EP loses one of it's mainstay quirks.

EP has maybe 17 active members.

I don't EP has any real charm to it, we have 86 guest on right now. You think if this place was anything exciting they'd stick around or whatever.

I just checked the radio, not counting mods, there are like 3 people that even post on this forum of the 17 that are there. So I don't see a lot of crossover happening, if the radio went away no one would notice. I still think the site would function fine without it. But that's just me.

Well, i don't wanna point fingers, but if everyone thinks like you do right now, then it's obvious why the radio is inactive. You can blame the staff all you want, but the problems need to be fixed from both ends. Staff needs to keep at it, but the community needs to support it just as much, and give them a chance.

But I don't want to support it, I just gave a ton of reason a page back why I don't support it.

Start throwing in some music I enjoy and then we'll see how I feel about it. But I believe copyright laws or something stand in the way of that.

They can't just play whatever music for each individual specifically. The thing is, like 90% of all brony music is dubstep or something similar. So you either like that or you don't. The problem is that alot of people don't like that style, myself included. That said, i'm still willing to support the radio just by being in the chat if that's what helps. I just turn the music off. :p

So you are just supporting the chat, they should add the radio channel to the forum chat or something.

There are other brony styles, you've got like 3 eurobeat artist, 3 acoustic artists and like 2 alternative rock style artist. I say add more ska, punk and rap.
