I dunno, I've seen a lot of mlp fans try to deny the inherent girliness of mlp. Which is the funniest thing ever. My best friend legitimately enjoys most of the barbie movies. She has them all on dvd. But yeah, it's definitely a rarity.
ViperBait No. No I most certainly did not :/ Birdbirdbirdie Trust me, you don't want to get it xD
Absolutely not. There really shouldn't be such a thing as "girl things" and "boy things". There's really no reason to disunite the two genders.
I see nothing wrong in enjoying things you enjoy despite the hetero-normative assumptions that people will tell you. "Gotta love what'cha do, man"
As a transgendered female, I'd say absolutely not. When I was a male, I always liked things that were 'girly' and thought it was silly that we had those distinctions that only divide the genders. I think toys or media should be interesting in their own regard, not because they're intended for a certain demographic. This is why I like MLP. I've never watched the older generations, but I've watched media aimed at girls before MLP FiM and it tends to be utter crap. With few distinctions, it was all bad, but that wasn't because it was girly, it was because it was childish. 'Tis my two and a half cents.
yea its wrong(wrong meaning not acceptable to general person), but you can be wrong in our society cause you have FREEDOM we live in a place with freedom of speech
I don't see what could be wrong about liking something "girly". After all, girls are rarely, if ever criticized for liking "boyish" things. I should add that I have a very hard time explaining to my (almost) 4 year old daughter why I won't buy that pretty pink hairbow for her 6 month old brother without making it sound like boys shouldn't wear hair bows. If he were old enough to ask for something "girly" I'd have no issue giving it to him.
As I theologian I say that there is nothing about christianity that would imply to like girly things would be wrong. So all you christian bronies out there, God says it is ok for you to like ponies, In fact he has a son who is heavily into the whole "love and tolerance" thing.
Sorry Prince Darkmoon, I meant no harm or insult...unfortunately some people use religion as an excuse to "prohibit" things that they don't like, rather than things Jesus actually discussed. Haha, I'm sure Jesus loves ponies , not sure about Allah though.... :/
No problem, yeah, I know, there are alot of people who abuse religion for their own purposes. That is why I say, the worst enemies of christianity is other christians. The question is, how girly is this show anyway? Not that I really care by this point, I love this show with all my heart. Does the fact that the ponies are ridiculously adorable make it girly?
Nope. If you're a girl and you like more boy-oriented things, go for it! If you're a boy and you like more girl-oriented things, go for it! Though I think that there should be no more things promoted 'just for boys' or 'just for girls'. Everyone should be able to like what they like without anyone calling you names for it.
Okay, lets get some stuff straight. Pink was not originally a feminine colour. In the 19th century, boy AND girls were known to wear pink clothing. In fact Queen Victoria was painted in 1850 with her seventh child and third son, Prince Arthur, who wore white and pink. A prince wearing pink nowadays? Pfft, you'll be lucky if you catch one wearing purple. Why? Because societal rules were presented and accepted by the general public, and enforced in advertising so often that it just became a thing of common occurrence, like it is in our world today. As for liking dress up games, that's amazingly common. I'm not afraid to admit that I've played my fair share of dress up games when I'm bored because hey, why not? They're still games and of course, have some sort of entertainment factor. Playing dress up games supporting evil people? I don't exactly know who these "evil people" are, so I cannot say for certain. I hope this has been helpful.
This is exactly how I feel! I've always been into girly things, even when I was a boy, and now that I'm a woman I am still into "boyish" things, like action and giant robots, superheros and sweaty guys fighting (come to think of it, why isn't this a girl thing?). I think everyone should like what they like and not have to feel judged for it.
