I feel you, Frost. People are told a lot about what they need to do, and, even people who like to think of themselves as free thinking individuals mainly go down the same path. I suppose it's about the path of least resistance; just like electricity, the basic laws that govern the hard sciences, build up the complexities of biological and higher level science, and that's been exploited by the ground-work in the education system. The education system was an extension of the industrial output system; people that were sorted favorably went on to the white-collar jobs, people sorted worse worked in the factories or stayed on their family's farms. 150 years of development for humans later in the developed world, and we're still using a system that was pretty distant and uncaring now, despite being in a wealthy and extremely advanced world. I see it less as people's goals are in line with economic and social goals rather than personal, and more that their biology has been exploited to render them un-able to easily make a different choice. Spoiler: Spoiler Not, of course, that I necessarily agree with the happiness idea of life. Although, I have played Kudos, and one of the points to Kudos is that a mediocre life of job, finance, friendship, and those metrics you're judged on is often the best life you can want to live. I feel life is all about finding your own self, and leading your own way. Obstructing that freedom by any means is a grave tyranny, and the law needs to enable people to find their own selves, and live out their true life. I feel that people that say that they want live out their life differently are still bound to the same pit that entombes people following the path they're lead. To that, sometimes even biology and instinct hold us back off of our living our lives to our fullest, because we really do need exterior stimulate to do anything, any not learning the shores past your current place is a major impediment to our best lives. That to say, always keep thinking.
Except unlike all other creatures in the world, we've got the potential to completely obliterate the world of everything, not just us, regardless of what naturally happens. War, poaching, genocide, deforestation, Nuclear Weapons, Politics, Religion, all stuff created by humans to gain control and be on the top of the food chain. Just because we're smart doesn't mean we can't blow up the earth. It may happen eventually, and sooner or later there will be no Nature to dictate what happens to the planet afterwards if Humanity goes down the path it's going right now.
The way the worlds going i'd say its gonna happen soon. We already have in some areas. Remember Chernobyl? Irradiated wasteland.
Either the future is an irradiated wasteland or humanity kills itself without nukes and nature overruns everything and all is finally right with the world.
Hmmm i have couple of ones that i think are rather unpopular. CMC sucks Religions are the #1 reason for all huge problems in the world. Stalin was worse than Hitler. Current president and the political lead of Finland sucks major ass. Mercedes is the most overrated car in existence. Diablo games are overrated. Then what i like that everyone tends to hate Duke Nukem Forever
I think most people don't really like the CMC as a whole, maybe some like the individual characters, like I like Sweetie Belle a fair bit. I think most people who aren't religious would agree with you on that front. New Zealand Prime Minister is pretty sucky as well :/ I like diablo games, but I would agree they're pretty overrated, but I then there's a lot of games I think are overrated. Most of the higher rated games as well, like Half-Life (I do like the games, mind you), Portal, GTA. I still haven't played DNF. I think most of the hate comes from the hype from such long delays, and how much people loved DN3D and the other games. From what I've seen, and with no background considered, it looks dated, but not horrid. I dunno.
Steve Jobs wasn't a great man Football (Soccer) is not entertaining A mixed race society is Not a bad thing The USA wasn't crucial in WWII Consoles are better than PC
I tend to like things many people don't like, not because I'm a hipster or anything but mainly because I find things that are insanely popular end up becoming stale or taken in a direction to try and pander to the crowds rather than be the thing it was in the first place. That's not to say I won't like popular things, but I often don't give them the same chance that something smaller and less known might get.
Oh wow, there are a lot of 'em. Let's get started, shall we? I really love episodes that 'pander' to the brony audience I absolutely love that Twilight Sparkle is an alicorn princess Season One was okay at best, in my humble opinion Season Three is so far my favorite season (I'll wait until Season Four ends to judge it) Solar Empire. I like Cadance and Shining Armor (A lot of bronies do not, though this mayn't be super unpopular) Okay so maybe not as much as I originally thought, though I'm sure there's more =P.
I am not Straight-Edge because I am a conservative police state christian. I'm Straight-edge because I feel it's right for me. I don't have to agree with a person 100% in order for them to be my friend. Playing devil's advocate to your friends political beliefs is a great way to see how truly "Tolerant" they are.
-Our society is not obsessed with "celebrity culture", it's obsessed with scoffing at celebrities and trying to insinuate how much of a "mess" people like Miley Cyrus or Britney Spears are when really we make just as many mistakes as they do -"Encore" is a great Eminem album
I loathe anime. I dislike Rainbow dash and Trollestia thing. I think being intolerant or nationalist is a virtue. I think organized religion needs to cease to exist.
