Credit to @Xalder for linking these: http://imgur.com/a/YiFzT There are a few good ones among them. Out of that list, i was hoping at least the following emotes could be added. Perhaps our old ones can be replaced entirely by them, since they're... well, kind of old. This site could do with some new stuff.
I've seen at least some of these on another forum. I think it would be wise to get permission from wherever they came from. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Yeah, good luck finding whoever made them. Why bother with that? These emotes are all over the internet. Loads of people use them. And if whoever made them (and actually proves he did) comes here, we can make a proper arrangement with the guy.
Strictly speaking you should ask the author, but I'm pretty sure I've seen 'our' emotes used elsewhere (I don't recall where). IIRC I mentioned it to Jaret (the artist of our original ones) and he said he didn't really care and was just happy that people were enjoying/using his work.
All I can say to the staff is good luck finding the artist if you really think you're forced to. I think it's a silly thing to bother with for a couple of emotes. Emotes have no watermarks, no references, and no credit given anywhere, on any forum site. You can't ask for permission if you can't track the original artist. And strictly speaking, you only need permission if copyrights are involved. With that said, i'll leave the decision to the staff. I'm only making a simple request to add new emotes.
Well, here are mine that I posted on a blog awhile ago. http://www.everypony.com/blogs/entry.php?2312-My-collection-of-emotes
They're certainly nice, but the purpose of emotes is to portray emotions in forum posts. Alot of your emotes don't really pull that off very well. (no offense. Like i said, i do like them)
I know a good number of them (probably about 95% of the pony ones) are simply from vectors from the show. If one of them is something somewhat more original, I do agree that it should be easy enough to find some arrangement assuming the creator has an issue with it. Otherwise generally people just like that their art is being used.
Don't necessarily need to track the artist. Equestria Forums uses most of these so I'm figuring one of the staff could ask them if they created them or got them elsewhere. It's possible they just took them, and nobody cares who takes them but it's simple as shooting an email. Personally it's got nothing to do with copyrights, I just don't like taking stuff without properly being able to accredit creators. That's just me though, and like you said up to the staff in the end. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
If that's the path people want to take, the person to talk to would be the Twilight Sparkle of that site. He's the admin and is pretty chill about stuff. I'm sure he'd be just like "yeah, whatever." Talking to any other staff member would mean they'd have to bring it up with every other staff member, making the whole thing unnecessarily complicated.
