Okay, so I'm sorry if I'm posting a question that has been asked a thousand times, but does anyone know why everyone loves RD so much? I mean, most MLP merch has RD's tail or mane colours on it, and if you ask a non brony for the name of a pony, chances are that he/she will say "Rainbow Dash". I mean, I like RD, sure, she's loyal, high spirited and makes you smile, but why her? In my opinion, Applejack is very similar, but she doesn't get nearly so much attention ! Anyway, I look forward to hearing your views!
Rainbow dash has become the mascot for my little pony I believe. I agree with u though except I'd go with my fave pony fluttershy! Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Dashie and AJ are my 2 faves (although AJ is 2nd) because I relate to them the most. The main reason Dashie tops my list is because she reminds me so much of Sailor Jupiter. I've always liked the brash, athletic girls on cartoons. Buttercup is my favorite Powerpuff Girl, Jupiter my favorite sailor scout, and Dashie my favorite pony.
I can understand that. I'm a schizophrenic so... Yeah fluttershy relates to me the most Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Good question. My two cents on this is that bronies that are still in denial want to find something in the show they can relate too. For example, Rainbow's a tomboy, so they usually cling to her character and stick with it. If that makes any sense at all. I'm not good at explaining things.
That's what I usually think it is. They want to feel like they're still "guys" even though they like a girl's show. Particularly younger bronies for whom gender stereotypes are still fairly predominant.
You probably explained it better. I have this one friend who's a bit younger than me, and got into the show about a month or so after it's premiere. He still thinks Rainbow is the best, and yells at me when I so much as say something along the lines of, "I just don't think Rainbow is as we'll developed at the others." Or, "I like Rainbow, but she's not the best in my eyes."
Well, if you're asking about why non-bronies like her, it's probably because she seems to be the most accessible to people who are still uncomfortable with liking things made for a female target audience. She's athletic, competitive and generally the most "un-girly" of the group. And she's blue, which is decidedly non-pink. Everything to ease your pain as you are coaxed into watching the show. And once you've watched enough episodes to realize how obnoxious she can actually be at times, it's usually already to late. :derpe:
Because she's awesome! She's a headstrong, let's-do-this, go-getter. Her cockiness can get the best of her, and yeah, she's as abrasive as fine grit sandpaper, but at the end of the day you can count on her, no matter what. I relate to that, quite a bit. Also, she likes to go fast. Who doesn't like to go fast?
Seaweed you stole my idea! Anyhow, I like RD a lot because of her nature. And also I can relate much from her. But the top reason why she's my fav is because of her ability to do sonic rainbooms! I don't know what others think but I guess that's my opinion.
I like her as a character because...well, just look at some of the above comments, and you'll pretty much have your answer. As for why she's the most recognized character outside the fandom, I'm guessing it has something to do with her design; as much as I love AJ, her design isn't nearly as striking as RD's. Perfectly understandable, considering rainbows quite easily grab people's attention.
That should answer your question. Personally, I don't like her cause she's an egotistical braggart and i find it really annoying.
Exactly this. I feel the direction the writers took her character development has been lost. She's always been one to brag, sure, but she would know right to acknowledge her faults and stick to her promises (you know, loyalty?). Now? She's just become rather annoying with quite a few cringe moments from my perspective. I hope it changes. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
I feel like Ed Valentine, who wrote the Flight to the Finish episode, has done one of the best jobs with Rainbow Dash's character. The two part Season 1 premiere, Sleepless In Ponyville, and Flight to the Finish are all episodes with excellent examples of why I like Rainbow Dash. Even though she lets her ego get the best of her, she will still come through for you in the end. She also had the only decent attitude shift out of all them when Discord messed with their elements. The others became obnoxious, but Rainbow Dash was tricked into thinking her home was in danger. So she went from defending one home to defending another from her point of view. I just think she needs to drop the tough attitude and embrace her soft side (yes, it exists). When she is willing to let her guard drop and show how caring and affectionate she actually is, it always makes me smile.
I really like Rainbow Dash, which is probably the understatement of the centuary. Yes she can have a bit of an ego sometimes, but I like confident girls. However in the end Rainbow values her ethical integrity and her friends more than anything else and can go to great lenghts to support them, even at the cost of her dreams. That is one reason I like her so much. Watch the latest episode, it certainly provide an example for what I mean. And yes, under that tough exterior Rainbow has a soft side. She is not always honest to herself, but what I see within her is a heart of gold. I love this pony, I love Rainbow Dash. She is not the only pony I admire though, basicly every single pony of the mane 6 is a very good rolemodel and people I would admire if they existed in this world. I admire Rarity's creativity, inspiration and genorosity, Applejack's honesty, integrity and sense of family, Pinkie's altrusistic, upbeat and funloving nature, Twilight's intelligence and wisdom, as well as Fluttershy's empathy and kind nature.
