So how do you guys think the community is doing? Great being that there is a lot of activity in the community. So-So being that the community is still there, just not as active. Bad being that there is little new content, less new bronys than bronys who are leaving the fandom, but the bronys are still here and are still a fandom. Dying being that there is nothing left. No new content, no new users, nothing.
I feel like it's going down. When was the last good brony music? Its been a fun ride while it has lasted, and I hope to stick with you guys till the end.
Um, by Community do you mean the site or the fandom? Anyway, I say the output of material from the fandom is slowing, but it's definitely still there, and without a doubt the age average has majorly decreased. The site could do with a few more additions, it appears to be stale right now, maybe some projects to work on at this moment in time would be good for the staff? Regardless of the site itself being stale, the community in it is still very much alive, and there's still more users coming and coming.
Oh, yeah I had been referring to this site when I responded to this thread. As a whole the fandom... well I never paid much attention to it, but I hear about some of the drama and just feel glad I'm not really big on it.
If anyone knows about CLAMP, it's logged an approximate 127000 new members (rounded to the closest multiple of 500) active for a span of at least 3 months across various parts of the fandom, and somewhere close to 73500 old members (active for at least 6 months) that haven't been active for a span of at least 3 months, within the last 6 months, worldwide. So that comes do something along the lines of a 146 person/day conversion rate. 34% of them have their location as undisclosed, around 29% are located somewhere in the US, close to %17 are in the United Kingdom, the remainder is distributed among other countries. It's probably much to do with the release of the new season. CLAMP is great. Except if it's illegal where you live, which is pretty much everywhere. Also, methinks everything is going well.
I voted thinking that this poll was considering fans of the show outside this site. I figured, since I've seen a lot of low-key content being created that doesn't hinge on the "OMG PO-KNEES R SOSOSO GREAT LOL" factor that the show had when it first aired, things must be fine. I'm not worried and wouldn't be either way, but it seems to my eye that being a fan of the show is a lot less of a big deal on the internet than it was last year or before, which I wholeheartedly embrace.
Here is my honest opinion this "Community". I saw this community once as a golden platter on the internet. Now, I see it as a decaying wasteland full of termites. The golden age which I think was in 2012 is long gone and now here we are, almost February of 2014. My thoughts that the community is getting progressively worse. The show is holding steady but the community is like I said before decaying away. Sure, there are new people who join almost everyday on various forums but in my eyes the community is dying slowly... piece by piece. The old devoted bronies are long gone and we are stuck with immature children. (I am young but I don't always see myself as immature). Sure, this is a kids "show" but the fandom is not for kids. The show is. The parts of the fandom are slowly dieing. One part especially is the Music part of the fandom. Most of the big time music bronies have moved on and/or stop creating music or gone to create music that is non-pony. Sure, there are still great artists out there like 4everfreebrony. But the music section of the fandom is decaying away. The Art and Literature/Fanfiction part is still going strong but will eventually decay away when people lose interest. At this rate the community in my eyes will last a maximum of 6 years.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. There is not much left of the brony fandom anymore... I even feel kind of ashamed being a bony now. Music, which was why I was here in the first place, is gone, and I don't care much for writing.
I agree with these. The thing you have to realize is the fandom, objectively, is bigger than ever. Maybe it's not doing as well, or it's not as active, but these are subjective phenomena. It's hard to quantify how well something is doing unless you have a precise definition of well, such as defining how well a player in a video games is doing by how many times they've died relative to what level their on. And too I think a lot of people make a habit or at least a repetitive behavior to project their feelings onto the fandom at large. I know I've been guilty of this myself. But when you're not so much into the fandom, maybe it is just that. The fandom though is clearly growing and I'd say becoming more diverse. Personally, I think the fandom is better than ever.
