I'm getting this bad gateway error on most threads created since yesterday morning. However, there was a thread made today that I can see, so I'm not sure what is going on with this error. Other than that thread, this error seems to be based around when the threads were created. Unless it's something to do with this section over other sections, I may not be able to see any response to this thread until the issue is fixed.
You probably need to delete your cookies. Or at least, I think that's what the problem was when I encountered this problem.
Even if you couldn't, simply using a different browser to view the thread for a solution would have sufficed. As it stands it's a problem with cookies getting corrupted or mismatched by the server, so it starts rejecting everything until you start a new session. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
You know it's bad when you're too lazy to run a second browser to see if that helps your issues. x3 I'll have to do that next time I have a problem with whatever.
Hehe no biggie, just wanted to assure that this problem in particular doesn't seem to tie directly to specific accounts or won't indefinitely lock you out. Ideally though, it'd be super if someone would fix it though. Been a few months now... :/ Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
I did actually get a message from google the other day saying there had been a dramatic increase in server errors when their crawlers were accessing this site (it's still linked up to webmaster tools). Could this be related?
Got that too, except it looks like Google was seeing tons of 503's which is rather curious, and they all seem to start up Jan 3rd. I wonder what got changed to cause these... Tyro The Fox, any ideas?
You'd need a lot at once, almost ddos-ish to cause a 503 in that regard. There's <100 guests on at any time, so I would say that's not the case. For the 502's that current symptoms show being unable to logout or properly navigate certain pages, no an influx in load would not seem to be the cause IMO, since it does not go away until the user clears their cookies. There's gotta be an issue somewhere server-side for those. I would check if ghan did any maintenance or server configuration changes around Jan 3rd. He will have logs about the errors as well.
I ran my crawler over a small number of pages on the site (10 crawler threads crawling a total of 2500 pages with a courtesy delay), and came up with a fairly large number of 404s (51) and a small number of 500s (8). The 500s seem to all stem from trying to follow the Threaded/Hybrid display mode links in large threads. Apart from that, I can't really see anything that could be causing the issue, although that may simply require a larger test size (more pages). I didn't encounter any 502s or 503s. --- EDIT --- Interestingly, all the 404s seem to be caused by bad relative links, and all follow the same pattern. Code: Error (404) on page http://www.everypony.com/forums/blogs/blog.php?5275 Followed from : http://www.everypony.com/blogs/blog.php?5275 --- EDIT --- @Tyro The Fox After trying to figure out why the crawler refused to do anything when using https...
I've reported the exposed phpmyadmin config to our server admin... If you could please remove the image with exposed URL that'd be great. Also the blogs thing is to be expected I think, it was moved out of the /forums/ dir ages ago. Simple redirects can fix that.
Well, I removed the image as request, although I'm slightly confused by something, namely that you don't seem to be an admin on the site (no highlighted user title, etc.), but you might as well be in terms of how things look like they work here. So just in case I'm confused, are you an admin?
I used to be a full time admin but stepped down to focus on other projects and my CS degree, but I retain a few levels of higher access to help with Tyro The Fox who is the one who officially does the work around here. Usually I just opt-in to help when he is not around for high precedence things like this. I don't really have an official title for myself though. Or at least, I wasn't ever given one.
Tech support is... Terrifying in the world of IT. There's a reason 'tech support gore' is a thing. Sent from my SHIELD using Tapatalk
