Howdy folks.

I have been pretty inactive on Everypony in recent times due to a few things going on in my life, one of which has been setting up a Youtube channel and, considering how good this community has been to me, I felt this could be a great place to start getting off the ground as well as looking for critique.

The title is self explanatory, The Valley of Gaming Urban Legends (catchy, I know...) is something I set up as part of recent attempts I have been making to bring out my more creative side and make a start with some baby steps in learning the ropes of video editing and whatnot.

If you are urban legends and myths in video games are of interest to you, or you know someone who likes this sort of thing, it may well be just for you!

I am well aware my first video leaves plenty of room for improvement as I'm not oblivious to the timing of the text and how long you get to read it, but I expect to improve on that over time. I am also aware videos about urban legends and myths are common enough, but this is something that is of great interest of me and I would like to think, if executed properly, it could stand out as a decent series.

All feedback is welcome whether it be praise or criticism so please don't hesitate to hold back, I crave any feedback that will help me improve my videos. Of course, throw some suggestions this way as well, I'll make it my business to cover as many games as is absolutely possible.

Now, without further delay, here is my first episode based on a select few urban legends and myths from Red Dead Redemption.

This was pretty good, and I'd probably watch more.

There were a couple of issues that I spotted, though.
-The background music didn't start until a full minute into the video, which left me trying to figure out if I had forgotten to turn the sound on.
-A brief [insert text here] message flashes on the screen at 3:35.

Still, it was worth watching, and the music was well-chosen.

Many thanks for your feedback Ridley, and I can explain both issues.

1: The timing of the video and music was difficult to nail, so the best I could do was start it when the 'story telling' so to speak begins. The intro of course won't be as long from here on in either as this was the first video. RDR already done a great job of composing some cracking music that really sets an ominous, creepy atmosphere so I didn't feel it would appropriate to try and use anything else. I considered using the Blackwater Day Ambiance music (check it out on Youtube) for the intro, but in the end I just seemed to decide against it.

2: I noticed this during the editing process, I think its just a bug that crept in and I could find no way of removing it, it only flashes for less than a second though, so hopefully its no big deal (And I hope it didn't count as a jump scare for you :p).

Neat. Interesting video. If there are fake screen caps people made to go along with their claims it could have been interesting to show those. Also when you talked about the face being the result of a reflection, if it's easily replciated, it could have been helpful to have shown what the reflection actually looked like and where the light source was coming form. Just suggestions. It was nicely done overall. I noticed the insert end text as well. I didn't find it a jump scare (like you joked about) but it did make me go: woah what was that, and go back to see if you jokingly tried to put in a hidden message. I don't know what sort of games you want to do this for but I may suggest the Mother series (Earthbound) and some of the messed up info related to the Gygas battle.. though that's creepy on it's own, or Mario Galaxy 2 (because the sky trees freaked me out a bunch when I first found out about them and their texture name ans such). Still, no matter what I know there are lots of good things for you to talk about so I'm sure you have plenty of ideas. Also if you don't know what either of the 2 I mentioned are (though I'm guessing you do) I'd be happy to show you some related articles.

Episode Two is online. Going back in time a little for the second video, which is the fabled game (or non-game), Killswitch - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu4gBjlfAKk

kioku Thanks for your feedback kioku. Giygas and the Hell Valley Trees have both been lined up, a series like this would not be complete without them. As for suggestions, it can be absolutely anything that has an urban legend or myth(s) connected to it or perhaps even a general creepy factor. Also, I have not included images or clips in the next episode due to the lack of them regarding this "game". I may re-upload episode one with your suggestions if I ever have a faster computer, unfortunately the one I have is quite slow when it comes to uploading onto Youtube and I admittedly would not have the patience to do them all over again on this.

That was a pretty neat second video. I enjoyed it. I did notice one type, you had "in an usual twist" instead of unusual, but that's not a big deal. I think the timing was better this time. The music worked too.
hn... well while not exactly a myth, the theming of the towns in Majora's Mask is pretty interesting, though Legend of Zelda has plenty of odd and unnerving things..

Episode Three is online! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hIfq67PEBM&feature=youtu.be

I personally feel I have made some notable progress with this latest video, so anyone who has watched the first two (or not, it doesn't really matter), feedback as always is appreciated!
@kioku Majora's Mask is also on the 'To Do List', and you'll be pleased to know the latest video is a suggestion of yours :) I have actually now noticed a typo in the latest video. Ugh, I need to stop draining myself when I make them, no wonder they crop up here and there.

And finally, for my latest update, I have also set up a Facebook page. Get liking and sharing if you all get the chance - https://www.facebook.com/TheValleyofGamingUrbanLegends

Thanks that was cool. ^_^ Is the typo you mentioned "enlists ness with the task of defeating before becoming too powerful." I'm guessing you meant something like defeating Gygas before he becomes too powerful. Otherwise this looked good. I liked the font. I agree that it seems to be improving as they go on. I thought the timing and use of music and visuals was pretty good.

On a not directly related note given it's not a theory.. here's another creepy earthbound scene for fun ^_^

ooh I know something that may be interesting to talk about if it's not on your list: Yume Nikki .. since the actually "story" or "meaning" is basically all fan speculation. http://yumenikki.wikia.com/wiki/Theories In general though it's mostly weird ambiance based surreal horror. (sorry trying to think of something you could have been slightly less likely to have listed, but I'm guessing you still may have).

The typo was using the word among, rather than upon. Still, only small errors, the less I have to improve on the better, right?

I had not heard of that one. I have been on the look out for more obscure urban legends and myths. This looks very interesting indeed, great shout!

Do you happen to be a Fallout fan? If so, Episode Four may be pique your interest. If you aren't, hopefully you enjoy it nonetheless, I think I finally have an error-free video on the fourth attempt. *Huzzah*.

After a nice weekend away, I have gotten back to work on the series and I am pleased to say Episode Five is upon.

Given the mature nature of this video however, I'm not sure if it's the wisest idea to post a direct link here (My previous ban is still fresh in the o' noggin'!).

Anyway, Episode Five concerns Yume Nikki. If you wish to view it, you know where my channel is and feedback as always is very much appreciated. Enjoy!

@Sinderlocke I'm not sure this is your sort of thing, but if it is, I would love your input (I also wouldn't mind an excuse for an audience with Queen Saucybuns again, its been far too long :p).
