Did ever accrue to you to see what there parents were? The only one we are aware of at Pinkie's who are Amish Ponies and Twilight Are Residents of Canterlot with a Gifted Daughter. But what about the others? Rainbow Dash? Fluttershy? Rarity? and Apple Jack ( Well only Granny smith but i mean Mother and Father speaking.)
..I saw that before, but didn't remember till now... Makes sense though. Hmmm... maybe we shall see moar of the mane 6's parents now, with s2.
I'd be interested in seeing more of the mane six's parents--including Twilight's and Pinkie's who we have already seen. They were interesting.
I want to see Scootaloo's parents and if they don't show them I want Rainbow Dash to adopt Scootaloo. I really want to see what Dash's parents look like. Do they have Rainbow manes and tail as well?
I'm worrying about things like Rainbow Dash's parents and how that will pan out because the fandom already has it's own ideas on things like that, and I can see many conflictions arising. Things like relations to Scootaloo are taken very seriously by some fans, and it's a shame the creators of the show can't do what they want to do without some fans giving cynical responses. Anyways, I'm not sure about the parents. I can't imagine an awful lot of story lines involving the parents that wouldn't simply act as background setters for the characters. Considering we're already into the second season, I don't think we need any of those. Never know though, it might work. I just think that it might be best if there's never any closure, so the fans can form their own ideas of what happens without contradicting canon.
Luckily, my friends, there have already been some sketches released of younger ponies for S2. Spoiler: Little Twi ...That's it, I'm waching Sibsy.
well, as I've read lot of interviews and comments from whole MLP:FiM crew (including Faust herself), I think I read somewhere that there will be more info about family in season 2. as for Twilight and her mom: who says that Twilight's mom isn't called Twilight Sparkle as well? lot of parents name their kids after themselves (it's another thing what I think about that).
I have kind of wondered how names are done in Equestria. Are we even sure Pinkie Pie's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Pie? I don't recall their names getting mentioned. Oh, there was Granny Pie, or something like that, I think. But how about someone like Fluttershy? And Apple Jack talks of the Apple Family Farm, not the Jack Family Farm. Mysterious!
Applejack is one word, so I'm guessing that's her entire given name. It's a strange nomenclature used in Equestria, but not a particularly new one. I guess it's subject to the family. Perhaps some families, such as Pinkie's, go by the typical hereditary surnames, where they take their last name from their parents (assumingly by marriage, as given by Mr and Mrs Cake), while others use single names, which I believe some tribes do. These names, such as Applejack's family, will pertain to a theme connected to the family traditions, in this case apples. To add confusion, some 2 parted names could actually follow the latter pattern, such as the case of Big Macintosh, or maybe Rainbow Dash (I don't believe Dash is a family name as she is called Dash several times, whereas Pinkie is never referred to as Pie).
Or the writers just liked the names as they were and didn't care about the logic behind it? :derpe: I'd also like to point out that most of them are names they came up with back in the 80's. I assume they weren't planning to show much family-related issues as far as MLP went at the time.
A theory I've seen on tvtropes in response to "Why are their names usually a HUGE hint to their cutie mark (with a few exceptions)?" is that their cutie marks first appear when they're born, but they fade after a few moments. The parents then name them after their cutie mark. (It was either the WMG page or the Fridge Brilliance/Logic page...can't remember.) Anyway, I also recall hearing somewhere Word of God mentioned once or twice that Season Two may explore the mane six's family more.
. . . How'd I make that mistake?! I'll go eat a dozen apples now . . . I'm sometimes called by my last name, so it's not entirely impossible that her last name is Dash. On the other hand, maybe they have some limited allowances to change their own names when they reach a certain age. And Rarit E comes in with a dash of reality and common sense! Ooo! Like cold water in the face!
I'm actually thinking about writing a fanfic on the origins of Spike and his little quest to find family.
I saw this, too. Didn't they also mention Scootaloo's origins? I can't remember. Interesting theory. I doubt it, though. What we've learned of cutie marks so far suggests it manifests uniquely to the user once their heart is set on their calling.
Hmm, we have Big Macintosh, Applejack, Granny Smith, and Apple Bloom in one family. We can probably assume (yes, I know the dangers of that) that "Big" is just an adjective for Macintosh, "Granny" is a nickname, then their last name is - Bloom! OK, my own logic astounds me. I'll faint now. *faints*
Good one =). But what about apple fritter, caramel apple and the rest. I HOPE they explore at least Scootaloo. I need to know. Or Dash could adopt her, that would be fine as well.
