I plan on taking the Blythe Baxter approach in that I don't want Rockout/Rockette to have the the same mane style every time.
Since you were talking about your alternate gender names I thought about Kioku's for a moment. I jokingly thought of Kio kun (kun is an ending you can use when referring to a boy. Sort of like mister but informally used, and most often for younger boys.) Of course that's just silly though. Kitaro was also a joke idea (taro is a way you can end a boys name but it's mostly used for pets and other small cute things. Hence: hamtaro being the name of the hamster). I put the sound of it aside and thought about the meaning. Kioku mean memory in Japanese. I went to the thesaurus and thought "reflection" could lead to something useful. I put that in to "denshi jisho" which is a really good online Japanese to English dictionary that will also give you compounds and similar words. I found there was one that fit pretty well. Apparently Kinshi means "deep reflection". I think that sounds pretty good. --edit-- ... and on google searching Kinshi I find serveral girls with that name. So I guess that doesn't work. Oh well. Searching again I found the word: Kisuru (though I'm not sure how common verbs as names are. I can think of a Japanese name I've heard that is a verb but that doesn't necessarily mean it happens much.) Meanings listed for Kisuru include - to come to (in the end); to end in; - to attribute; to blame - to expect; to look forward to - to write down; to note; - to remember So it may work. Also I did a quick drawing of him (though I should be studying). I still wanted mage-like swirls on his tail somehow so I came up with soemthing but I can't really tell if it's less or more feminine >_> Oh well it's an attempt.
