It exists within a religious person's mind, just like Santa Clause exists in an imaginative child's mind.
I was meant that as a vague allusion to a metalocalypse episode, but that works too. Being rational is always the best option in my mind.
Some say the same about sexuality and mental illness. I say as long as they don't shove it down others throats, live and let live. But I understand some need to feel rebellious and fight something.
This is basically omnipresent all over North America, with a couple of notable exceptions. ie Toronto, which many people perceive as both "tolerant" and "accepting". What they fail to realize is that basically everyone is apathetic to the point that they simply don't care enough to acknowledge the presence of anyone that doesn't directly concern them.
I haven't seen that show in forever... well, not really forever. Just awhile... Anyways, I concur, though many people say my rationale is very... spacey... I just think they're too closed minded and dumb to understand. While we're on this subject, I'll say another thing. The Bible is but a primitive fairy tale. If you honestly believe that the Earth is only 6,000 years old, and that the first woman came from the rib of a man and the all other deluded nonsense that's written in the 2,000+ year old book, well, you're delusional. Say what you will, but these are my beliefs, and until I see actual evidence that proves otherwise, they will remain concrete.
So you are saying the fact that Nihilistic People cause problems or take up banners without careing about the cause is a problem or that people know that people do so? - - Auto Merge - - Anyone who actually believes the Bible is a concrete retelling of the earth and not just a book of Aesop fables to teach Morality is not only fooling themselves but need to have the Mental Health checked. And while we are on the subject of the Fallacy of Stereotypes. I've yet to meet someone in person who believe is the "Young earth" myth. Of course you have idiots in congress and WBC who say otherwise.
Interpreting this statement of question as best I can: I'm saying nothing on the matter, merely remarking very many people do not agree with the society around them, and that many people mid-percieve how society reacts to people around them.
My mom is friends with someone who's deeply religious, all believes and that nonsense. I like to call myself tolerant. Heck, I'm the most tolerant person I know, but I just CANNOT be acquainted with someone who's so far gone. It's practically impossible to converse with them.
If someone believes in something irrational, no amount of rational evidence will convince them that they are wrong. At least until they choose to realize that for themselves.
And now I am trying to comprehend what you just said (I'm sensing a pattern here) So you believe that people only pretend to be what they are to fit within societal constraints? So you believe everyone is just putting on a face to others to be liked and accepted within their own clique?
Completely misinterpreting each-other; this is what is happening. While that wasn't what I said, I actually won't say I disagree with the above point, since you don't often see peoples' true characters in modern societies. Although, if you live long enough as something you are not, eventually that's what you will become (assuming that it's within bounds of reason and rationality, otherwise you just end up with insanity).
Understandable, especially when those people actively force their beliefs down your throat and then say you are intolerant because you have the sense to tell them your wrong. Because condemning a whole group of people to death because they were born to love there own gender is fine, but tell them the world is millions of years old?! Dats so intolerant and fascist..... - - Auto Merge - - One of the truest statements ever is in bold. I will go as far to say that people who are willing to mask themselves in that way are insane. The need to shed your own identity and fit a mold rather then be the massive conglomerate of contradictions and impulses that are human. Is in my opinion, insane. - - Auto Merge - - Yeah
Ever since I was little, Evolution just made sense to me. It clicked inside my mind while religion, for the most part, didn't. (I can't really say for sure since I'm still quite young and am pretty ignorant with many religions, but I'm fairly confident that atheism is the one for me) So yeah, when people try and argue that Creationism is the bees knees, they just seem like bafoons to me. Also, my brother's gay and I'm bisexual, so homophobes might as well die.
When people try to force their beliefs down my throat, I prefer to simply take each attempt - one at a time - and break them down for everything that I can find wrong with them. Usually, this causes them to get angry and leave, which is an excellent outcome.
I used to do that in my early teen years, but I've softened up a bit. Now, I just mentally murder them.
Murder isn't as fun as having them suffer through their own downfall; it simply lacks the element of grandeur I strive to achieve. Often enough, that's exactly what happens. This is EXACTLY what I had in mind, thank you for the wording.
