You know, that instrumentation is actually right up my alley (very thrashy indeed), but yeah, can't say I'm a fan of those bubblegum J-pop vocals. There's just something about the Japanese "lolita" vocal range that rubs me the wrong way. It's like they breathed in a year's supply of helium.

I wish everyone understood that art, in all its forms, is based almost entirely upon our subjective experiences/interpretations thereof. There are certain aspects that can be objectively critiqued, of course, such as quality; a pic doodled in MS paint in under 5 seconds will rarely be considered as objectively good as a photoshopped image that took weeks, and a song that sounds like it was recorded on a camera phone similarly doesn't measure up to something that was professionally produced. But it does irritate me when someone claims that a high-quality work is "objectively bad" simply because it doesn't reflect their personal tastes.

Which reminds me, there's this jagoff on another pony forum who constantly makes posts about how objectively "worse" se04's songs are than those in previous seasons, even though Ingram's work is just as high-quality and creative as it's ever been. If ever there were a time where I wish I could reach through my computer monitor and smack someone, it's whenever I see him post.

 

I mean, I don't mind that it's rehashed, as I enjoy the mechanic. But it should be kind of expected by now, and they should focus their advertising on newer things it brings to the table, like the third selling point they had: giant bulldozing eggs.
