So, I was at... a supermarket, and saw this chick with an awesome Zelda shirt, and upon noticing said shirt of awesomeness, I pointed at her and said, "Hey, nice shirt.", but to my dismay, she kept on walking without so much as even looking at me. I was left looking like a fool as she strutted by, clad in awesome Zelda apparel, completely oblivious to my existence. And this, my fellow sentient meatbags, is why I don't talk to people.
The only reason people rag on Fox news is because they lean to the right. There's no such thing as complete objectivity, and if a news agency or publication doesn't support a party, then they support a political agenda. It's not like there aren't political parties in the UK. We have the Huffington Post in the US, and the UK has the Guardian. I see no difference between the two. Also as far as news sources go, they're all the same when it comes to saying what's happening, more or less. They only deviate in the message when it comes to their talk segments. But who listens to Piers Morgan or Sean Hannity for news? They're the entertainment arm of their respective agencies.
I came up with a headcanon. So every person has 4 elements. A nature, an Aura, a Barrier, and an Environ. Their nature is who they are inside, who they are meant to be and what they deserve. Its everything they think and feel and why they do it all. Their Aura is how are seen. It involves how their actions come across to others and how much people see someones being. Its what people think the subject is thinking and feeling at the time. The barrier is what stops them from reaching their potential. Its one aspect that makes them down or feel trapped or helpless...its what prevents others from seeing their aura but also from getting the chance to see it in the first place. The environ is shared. Its the place you live in, grew up in, learnt from, and developed from. Its the reasoning for your development and affects their natures greatly and taints or amplifies their aura. So for example. I have a loving nature, my aura is often one of calm and honesty. My barrier however is a shield between my nature and others...it stops them seeing my true feelings and makes me seem okay when im actually far from it. My environ is my high school as it is where my life is mostly spent but i also have the internet which mostly affects my nature and aura in huge ways. so yea thats my headcanon and thats about as much as ive been thinking about it
Actually, the reason that most people speak ill of Fox News is because they have a reputation for dishonesty and half-truths.
People speak ill of Fox because they lean to the right, and the people speaking ill are libs. As if MSNBC is objective or CNN. What about the drivel that leaks out of Huff Po? Libs like to surround themselves with people with identical politics, so it's natural that they experience some form of existential rage when one single news source doesn't lean to the left like the rest of them. People that constantly rag on Fox are babies: Not everyone believes the same things as you! Oh dear! These people pretend that Fox is the only news source in America or something. It's not enough to stick to CNN, but you have to attack others because it's just too insulting for other opinions to be floating around at the same time. Also I can match people blow for blow when it comes to dishonest reporting. Show me an instance where Fox errs, and I'll show you on by CNN. And don't get me started in those people that consider The Daily Show and Colbert Report to be news either. I've literally had multiple people explain to me that TDS is, "Really the best source of news." They even used those exact words - yes, different people saying the same words. If that's not the definition of a drone, I don't know what is. But of course no one calls these people out. They're progressive and free thinking. They're on the left so they have to be intelligent forward thinking worldly types, right? Everyone who disagrees with them is just a racist Fox news-watching redneck after all. I've had enough with my generation's legions of know-it-alls and elitists. The same people who voted for Obama without knowing any of his politics and attributing all of his mistakes to racism and Bush's legacy. Okay, rant over. I don't feel particularly good, but I do feel less crazy for venting my frustrations. I get to feeling so alienated and unwanted in the brony community because of my politics. Everyone seems to automatically think that all conservatives are racist, homophobic jingoists. I've noticed though that the people who call themselves all-inclusive and tolerant of everyone are the first to cast judgement on people like me. They don't want to debate or even accept that I have any valid points; I'm just an O'Reilly-worshipping redneck, and then they go back to being "tolerant". *edit* I'm sorry if this post seems angry and rude. I'm not trying to attack anyone but those who would cast snap judgements on others. I don't begrudge any left-wingers for their politics unless they try to trample on me for my politics.
If Fox News was an honest news outlet, why did they fight so hard to preserve their right to lie to people? http://foxnewsboycott.com/resources/fox-can-lie-lawsuit/ Yes, many of the people that dislike Fox News are liberals. Being a liberal is not necessarily a bad thing. If it weren't for liberals, woman would never have gotten the right to vote, and segregation would still exist. That said, I'm not a liberal, and I still dislike Fox News. I despise any corporation that unduly influences people, almost as much as I despise the weak-minded sheep that allow themselves to be influenced.
I still think that no matter how inaccurate Fox is, MSNBC is worse, and Huff Po takes the **** cake. Also, Occupy Wall Street hippie Che Guevara wannabes didn't end segregation or spearhead the suffrage movement. What does civil rights have to do with the size of the federal government or economic policies? Like I said earlier, when talking about Fox, I'm talking about the news and not segments like Hannity. It's just become hip to be left-wing, and that's why people rip Fox so much. Hannity and Beck are easy targets, so people pretend that they represent the entire network along with shows like Red Eye. And if you don't like it, don't watch it. Do you feel threatened by Fox in some way? It's a news organization that reports the news and has entertainment segments. So ****ing what. If anything, I'd be afraid of the White House for publicly criticizing Fox, like the government has the right to even try and exert any control over the media.
When lies are presented as facts, especially when they are presented in ways meant to incite anger, it becomes dangerous. It's not as simple as "don't like, don't watch," because the people that do watch, and are influenced and angered by half-truths and lies, are a part of our society. While it's easy avoid the stories themselves, it's not as easy to avoid the sheep that watch and believe them. Also, don't get me started on Occupy. The lazy bastards were more worried about updating their social media than they were about actually doing anything worthwhile.
I'm not going to argue with you anymore. It's clear that I won't be changing your opinion anytime soon. The more I argue, the angrier I get, and I don't want to get angry at you for stupid reasons. That's why I'm quitting now.
I'm not sure why people have these negative knee-jerk reaction to the idea that envy can be good to have. Sure, maybe too much envy does more harm than good but without a little bit of it, I don't think anyone would try to surpass themselves because of that nanny idea "you are speshul jus the way u are"
Everyone must think I'm a redneck. It doesn't help that I'm from Tennessee either. At least I don't have a Southern accent.
I'm convinced that everybody thinks that I'm some sort of fascist Neo-Nazi. It's likely because of my right-wing views and fondness for wearing combat boots and BDU trousers. By the way, Tennessee is awesome, and people should know that just because you're from the South, it doesn't mean that you're an ignorant hick. - - Auto Merge - - I agree completely. Envy has the potential to be a wonderful motivator. If you're jealous of all the money your boss makes, then maybe that will motivate you to work harder and get a promotion. As for "being special the way you are", that's a load of crap that the Self Esteem Movement started. Are we all unique as individuals? Yes. But in a broad sense, are we all replaceable? Yes. But strive for excellence (not necessarily through envy), and you will certainly become less replaceable and more valuable.
That latter statement is equally a load of crap, IMO. One of the biggest fallacies I've ever heard comes with people's misguided sentiment that "hard work guarantees success". It most certainly does not. The whole "buckle down, do your best, and you'll pull through in the end" story we see so often in media fails to reflect cruel reality; the reality that you can give something your all and still fail at it. Yes, hard work may increase your chances of success by some marginal degree, but the fact still remains that there are now over 7 billion people in this world. Ain't no amount of "stepping up one's game" is going to put any of us peons in a position to legitimately challenge the few elite who make (or think they make) this world go round. That said, I'm completely fine being not being a leader or an entrepreneur or anything else that literally requires you to use other human beings as rungs on a ladder. If me being perfectly happy with who I am makes me replaceable or less valued in the eyes of the elite, well good. F * * * the elite.
If you want to come out in front, you have to try harder than everyone else. If you want to come out on top, you have try something no one has before you.
