How could I resist? [size=+1]Community Post #98[/size] Art by ****igal-Artust (Sorry, his name is picked up by the swear filter) Hang on...It's booting up. Hang on...*sigh* I'm instantly regretting dusting off this old thing. Yeah, I'm trying out the ol' Windows 98 computer I found in the attic. In fact, I think it was my Nana's. But, ah! I remember being an enthusiastic young cub, being allowed to play on the family computer because my Game Boy ate batteries like a...a battery-eating monster that allowed me to play two of the weird Mario land games. Actually, they're all weird... But then! Cluefinders! Reader Rabbit! Dogz II! MSPaint! Cold Shadow! This one Star Trek game I could never do! And Microsoft Golf! All without internet! It was a glorious time! Full of wonder, happiness and...and.... Oh come on! You've only just loaded the logo? Ugh...Trying to get this thing too...umm...Ah! The bing bong noise! Aaaaaaannnd.....There! Yes, I remember this. Click and then nothing turns up for five minutes! Come on, come on... Question: you know in Cluefinders, what the hell was the yellow thing that follows them around? You know, the thing where they stored all their junk and just hovered? Who made this thing? Why isn't there other things like this thing? It's like, an AI device. It should be incredible but noone seems to notice the thing with eyes and floats around this bunch of kids. Surely, you'd want to steal it just to sell it to a roboticist and make a mi... OK! I've got it now. The CP can continue! [size=+1]- Site News[/size] Hey! Guess what? I don't know, this screen is grubbier than I first thought...Hang on...Right, there's some updated songs for the Radio! Hopefully, there's some recent favourites being put into the rotation right now! Artist - Song 4everfreebrony - Wandering Eyes Awkward Marina - Entropy (Sim Gretina Remix) BlackGryph0n & Baasik - Taking Off Silverwing- Forever United (Equestria Games Orchestral Suite) Julian Moon - Nostalgia MandoPony - Horse Famous Jastrian - Scratching the Surface Julian Moon - Undefined Blues Neighsayer - Autumn Goodbye (Cover) 4everfreebrony - Emerald Eyes (ft. Relative Pitch) [Remastered] Artem Yegorov - Journey Above the Clouds William Anderson - Luna's Theme (Sonic Rainboom Mix) Want more stuff? Well, how about the new addition to our Youtube! Yes, we still have that! I'd watch it but I'm genuinely concerned the amount of dust encrusted on this thing makes it a fire hazard if I try to make it do anything that was made after 2000. I'd hear "Hello Peeps, Pets and Associate Peeplings!" and then all my high scores on Topsy Turvy Games bite the dust in an inferno of plastic and fluff. Anyway, A new Recording of the Friendship Cannon Podcast has been uploaded to the Youtube channel! If you enjoyed it, it's there to watch again! Missed it? It's there! Curious! Go check it out. Intolerant to dust? Don't come anywhere near me and go watch The Friendship Cannon Podcast! Remember, it's also played out live on EPR's Livestream every Saturday at 1PM EST. Check it out, they sure like to chat. Hey! Did you know there was a game hidden in Excel? No, I didn't either! Apparently, there's little easter eggs and tributes hidden in a lot of the Windows products. I wish I'd known about them when I was younger! It would have blown my mind to be messing around in Excel and suddenly find this secret maze thing. Would have been more amazing than watching the Maze Screensaver. I've spent many a half hour watching this thing in utter fixation. Possibly more than I would happily admit to... [size=+1]- Recommended Reading[/size] All right, I can smell this thing getting warm. Let's keep this moving, shall we? Kalisti VI is coming! Brace yourselves for interview guests from Friendship is Magic include voice actors, writers (including M.A.Larson) and one of the composers! There's also going to be a small boatload of community artists to take your requests and doodle for you as much as possible. Isn't that wonderful? Remember, all proceeds go partly to Galacon and partly to Charity! I believe it's African Children that get a share of everything. So, win-win! So, Invicta got bored and came up with this. I dunno, there's something odd about that pony and it does raise a few questions if you are so inclined to ask them. Throwaway Gag or Conspiracy? You decide! Did you know I've been building an RPG engine? Well, now you do. I'm in a computer game development course and I've been working on it for a couple of years now. So, I thought I'd share some of the characters a prototype game will feature. I'll let you play with the prototype later on in the year but be kind. It's in like...Alpha to Pre-Alpha stages, at best. Don't expect Final Fantasy! It's currently just made to pass grades, not necessarily entertain anyone. Speaking of games that I had no paw in, Yami yamied a review of Xenoblade Chronicles. So, think about it: that's a review from Yami and a game you might consider dusting off your Wii to try out! May the Yami yam on! Am...Am I using that verb correctly? Not to be out done, I did one too. Mine doesn't have a Square Mustache and amazing music so Yami automatically wins over Music Invading Demons. I never would have thought I'd ask this but: Jar Jar Binks Vs Scootaloo? Who would win? Come on! Your curious now! Like the fight between Kaa from The Disney Jungle Book and Adam Savage from Mythbusters; I can't think of a more random match up. Still, if your interested in this strangely specific information, the link is right there! Royron32 is attempting one of the most time consuming arts known to pony: Animation. Sure, he's only attempting to make Pinky walk forwards but damn it! He's doing pretty well! Believe me, I know this is harder than it looks. Give him your support and maybe he'll flourish into making a big cartoon some day! Good luck, lad! Why the hell not indeed! Ridley's taking requests, assumingly because he's bored. So, go wild! We already have Hitler fighting a gorilla with chainsaws for arms. The sky is the limit here! Eyes of Estranged saw fit to give us this little dodad: a...Sorry, this for the purposes of Hasbro's lawyers. *ahem* A FAN BASED PARODY BASED ON, BUT NOT CLAIMING ANY OWNERSHIP OF, MY LITTLE PONY:FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC. I appologise, but you can't be too careful with an Abridged Series. Anyway, him and his friends came up with this little show. Check it out! May it remain just quiet enough to avoid lawsuit. There seems to be a lot of people doing things because they're bored recently. Well, I won't stand for it! Behold! Rainbow Dash Flight School! It popped up on the Hub World website and it seems to be a sort of Rainbow Dash Flavoured Flappy Bird. If that sounds like a dream come true for you, the link for more info is right there! And finally: a little education. And that concludes this week's post with my special guest: my first PC. I'm still kinda amazed how much I could try and do without the internet in the back of this thing. Would I go back to those days? Heck no! But it was a special time where all I would do is figure out what all the settings on the screensavers would do. Seriously, to a ten-year-old me, watching 90's era CGI pipes grow across the screen was visual crack. Forget about the Cluefinders and their veiled attempts to teach me something in Egypt, the pipes made out of the picture I just drew are multiplying! I'll be here until the next week I have to write one of these. Hopefully by then, I'd have gotten out of this maze and found the smilie face!
Excellent Community Post! Windows 98 was my childhood - part of it anyway - and the mismatched BBCode tag fits into the mix excellently!
Really? Hmph. I liked it the other way, it had so much more... personality. It was so much more relatable and down to earth; you'd read it and think "Yeah, I remember when I did something like that," and relive some happy memories of days long gone past. It was this slice of true, raw and unfiltered character which is oft unseen in the modern world, one reminiscent of days gone past and long since lost to the vast and unmetered spans of time that make up our existence. It was like a window, a window into the very heart and soul of this powerful and tightly knit community thought which you could gaze and feel as though everyone is with you, and everyone is there for you, this one constant thing in the world that was there, and which has become a part of your life. Gazing at it was like coming up to this one, single watershed moment in, whereat you would gaze up and get this crushing feeling, this one single omni-nullifying sensation flowing throughout your body, this one single idea flourishing in your mind, and this one overpowering concept would manifest itself as: Oops. Still, excellent post!
And then the internet came. [video=youtube;gsNaR6FRuO0]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsNaR6FRuO0[/video]
Nice post. Windows 98...those were the days. Also, the auto-censor made me chuckle a bit. :derpe: Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Sweet CP Tyro, that damn brick wall screensaver just returned many memories I really should finish the Lion King project by CP 100...
When I was a kid, I found out about the Excel Easter Egg, but it came out differently. It was a hall with pillars, and some words scrolling on the walls.
Does that mean you get to do nothing now? [video=youtube;I0e7V2hzqI0]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0e7V2hzqI0[/video] Kay, I'll go now. teehee
failed to nostalgia, have a win98 lappy I still use because it works, have the maze screensaver also...
