So what do you think about the fandom?

[MENTION=8883]Spare Ribs[/MENTION] Does twitter and Facebook count? I follow a bunch of bronies on twitter and 'like' a whole lot of brony related pages on Facebook.

 

@Spare Ribs You do see some of that on Facebook. But, I just unlike their page if I see something like that. Even if they post suggestive 'shipping' art. My attitude towards 'cloppers' usually is that 'I don't care. Just please don't announce to the world what you wish you could do to a cartoon horse because we don't want to know'. But, I do worry about overall fandom appearance because of their presence. I don't know what most bronies say about it though.

As as far as twitter goes, the bronies I follow are mixed. Some you can't tell if you don't look at their profile description. While others have it clear in every post that they are brony/pegasister. I am rarely on twitter even though I follow close to 300 people.

And, I did take your advice and made a tumblr blog. I like it better for fandom related stuff over the previously mentioned sites. ( http://thisbronylife.tumblr.com if you are interested)

 

I think the fandom is quite interesting.but I tend to become frustrated with some of the little quirks that bother me, such as "Blank can beat anything" And a few other. But besides that , I think it is great and continually surprises me with big feats of generosity and happiness.

 

I dislike the Love and Tolerate slogan, as I've found many bronies horribly closed-minded, able to easily judge and condemn others with differing views. It's much how liberals in America claim to be open-minded yet will make such obviously absolutist statements about differing political mindsets all being wrong. Very aggravating. Mostly though, bronies are among the nicest people on the internet, so there's that

 

Me too man. Bronies tend to be nice, but they really do set themselves up for insults. I don't see why they complain, it's the internet. A lot of fandoms get flack.
Especially agree with what you said about not accepting of other view/opinions. I said I didn't like that Beat It PMV (sounded awful imo) and they just tore into it and called it a masterpiece even saying it's better than the original by MJ. Got the same sort of response when I said I didn't like the final fight of S4. I just thought they were trying to be hard to make it 'cool'
I also dislike how they're sorta influencing what goes into the show. The fan pandering? They eat that **** up.

 

When it comes to the fandom, I'm more of a "fringer" -- meaning, I stay at the very edge of the fandom and try not to get too involved in the petty dramas that seem to spring up like weeds . It's not uncommon; in fact, I've seen it on other fandoms that I once associated with.

There are times that I question whether or not I even belong in a fandom, because I can't generate the passion and fervor that many of the fans can. It's mostly the reason I stay quiet and only involve myself in discussions where I can offer my perspective as an outsider, essentially.

 

Of all the fandoms I been through this is the best.

 

This fandom, like all fandoms, has its ups and downs, however, the downs in this community seem to be much more prominent than its ups, unfortunately. Tis why I hardly consider myself a brony anymore. (I have a few pony plushes displayed in my room, but the only reason they're not put away is because they're gifts, and shoving them in boxes would feel disrespectful.)

Overall, I like the show, and still talk to my brony friends, and continue to defend them when ignorant douchelords attack them for no reason, but I don't really care for the community as a whole, and try to detach myself from the fandom. This could be due to my natural tendency to detach myself from society and worldly worries, but there are more reasons at hand that I don't feel like delving upon...
