So recently a few small birdies have been mentioning a new Fandom of people who like My Little Pony popping up. They are calling themselves "Equestrians". From what I've heard this sounds a lot like an elitist group of Bronies who don't want to be associated with the negative parts of the fandom, or should I say, the parts that they think are bad such as: Clopping, Forcing the show on others, not living by the 'Love and tolerate' motto and stuff like that and they basically just call themselves equestrians and don't want to be associated with Bronies. I don't know a lot but I know that it seems to be becoming a thing...Am I hearing correctly or is this all hogwash? Furthermore if it is true...dafuq? What do you think about this? I doubt it will last long to be honest, and if it does it will probably not get too large but hey I dunno.
Well, I don't agree with clopping or being forceful about the show. But, I still consider myself a brony. A Equestrian, by definition, is somebody who practices horseback riding. Another, definition refers to the wealthy class in Ancient Rome. So, if this is true, I agree that they are elitist. Assuming this is true, it may be best to not pay them any heed.
Exactly, you don't necessarily agree or partake in all aspects of the community but you don't go out and deliberately set yourself apart and say "I'm not with those guys" By the sounds of things they do this because they don't like the image Bronies have at the moment. It almost reminds me of a Herrenvolk for MLP fans or something. I don't get it so I wanna know if anyone knows anything else about this.
I don't agree with certain things, I am a Brony. And Lionloversam I like how you did research on that, they might be elitist but exactly WHY exclude yourself from Bronies in particular? I don't give a crap for Clopping, Forcing the show on others, not living by the 'Love and tolerate' motto and stuff like that, you are a Brony you retards! Now, I understand that if they don't want to fell the "negative" side of this forum, I believe they should pull up their panties and stop acting like a bunch of pansies. I bet they are doing the exact same stuff as we are doing in this MLP Forum, Everyone does, well, almost everyone.
There might be a difference between bronies and equestrians, but what kind of bronies would we be if we didn't accept their ideology for what it is? Or would that make us equestrians...?
It's confusing as hell. I don't give a crap they can go and make their new fandom and I don't care. It doesn't affect me at all, I just want to know more that's all. This is how I see it plain and simple: There are Bronies. And then there are Equestrians. The Equestrians are a small group who don't want to be associated with bronies because of the things some bronies do that give them a negative reputation. Sooo...I can understand not wanting to be stereotyped but come on. Who doesn't know how to handle a bit of trolling? This is the internet after all. Lol Rarit E it's a paradox!
Don't really understand the point of creating a new name. I don't understand the need to go under a fandom title at all. I am not, and will never be a 'Brony'. I am a fan of the show, nothing more. No need for another title, just state it plainly like I did. =P
The fact that they feel so threatened by para-sexuality as to categorize clopping as a "negative" aspect of the brony fandom prompts me to dismiss them by default. Sorry, just can't take seriously any who honestly concern themselves with what people choose do with their naughty bits in the privacy of their own homes.
Even when I did watch the show, I didn't call myself a "Brony", just a fan of the show. I don't see why any label really has to be applied. Plus, I just don't like the name.
Heh this puts everything in a more humourous light http://www.horse-news.net/2014/05/equestrian-states-secede-from-fandom.html
Only the 'love apples' claim to be seedless and free of bruising and other imperfections. Yet, ironically, have just as high a chance of containing a worm as any other apple.
It'd be hilarious if they ended up hosting "Equestrian" meet-ups, which're "No bronies Allowed!!!!!!!!" What a ridiculous notion this is. Just refer to yourself as a Pony fan, if you really need to.
