What if the show had been Galaxy Girls, as Faust originally intended? Would it have been as successful, or does the fact that MLP is already an established IP help?

It might have took a little longer to take off like MLP since there was no precedent. If the writing were as good as MLP (which I'm sure it would have been), it would eventually gain a following. Next question, would the show have had as huge of an adult following and, dare I say, a FANDOM? And what would we call ourselves... STARBROS?

I have a question: What's the difference between a fanbase and a fandom?

I don't know what the fandom name would be honestly.

    No.

    Not "Wander Over Yonder".

    Galaxy Girls.

    GALAXY GIRLS.

NONE of this "Wander Over Yonder" nonsense.

Lauren shouldn't have done "Wander Over Yonder" as her next project.

She should have done Galaxy Girls as her next project.

"Wander Over Yonder" shouldn't exist. It should be Galaxy Girls.

PS: Genndy shouldn't be doing it either, he should be working on that full-length Samurai Jack animated movie.

    Samurai jack, galaxy girls, Mlp...
I ain't taking position in this. For I couldn't foresee, a long time ago, that MLP would have been such a fandom, I don't know quite yet about Galaxy Girls.
MLP is about friendship. It's roots are deep in our hearts, not only as an individual, but a community and the show's values encourages us to bond with one another.
It is about magic and stuff we can't rely on reality to break our illusions- especially so we could believe in the show. The paralellum between our world and the show's world is mentioned so much that it only pleads for the audience to be real. There you go, marketing, you just won a little girl's heart and her mother's money.
But the show's team, when it realized they had such a different audience, retargeted, and is now semi fan-servicing and tries to keep its ties to a kid's show- that's why its light, funny and cute, and why all of us guys can't resist fluttershy's squee.
Now, if you think about all of this, and try to picture milky way and Saturn instead of Twilight and Applejack, does it feels the same way?
I think, if you are like me, a follower of Faust, you'd say yes. But Galaxy girls will always be a project, might never come to term, and as long as we don't hear about the public and get the audience stats, we can't foretell anything. I don't think it will have much of an adult audience, but the age group might be in the 6-14, maybe older if it proves to be more Faust than Hub.

(And why Derpy exists and isn't a boring fixed bug)
