Somehow my MLP presentation video went a little viral, I do not yet know why, as far as I can tell EQD didn't post it. Anyway it got a lot of hate and I mean a lot. Read the comments and you will see the hate, sometimes they came up will valid reasons to hate it, but most of the criticism was not in the least bit constructive. When people call me a man child it is very insulting because I used to snob kids shows until MLP:FiM, so I am not loving this show just because i'm immature. I watch stuff so mature it would probably make most of you vomit. I have also always been the most sensible in my group of friends and I often feel like I am the parent that has to tell them to stop before they lose an eye. Anyway it's evident that most of the commenters are haters. and those that are not and see me a terrible example of a brony and I embarrassed them, I'm sorry. Tell me what you guys really think, honestly. I mean I've already had a lot of hurtful comments, a few more won't make a difference.
um no. It's simply me pitching an idea to make a positive brony doco. I explain that it is viral on the internet and show the evidence for that.
Wow... I mean, I'm honestly not sure why people are so angry about this. I'm sure a good amount of them are just trying to troll you and make you feel bad, but it still sucks that they're reacting that way. Just don't take what they say personally. If they want to make fun of you for simply enjoying a show, then their opinion hardly matters in this case. I'm sorry this happened, Setzer, and I hope people move on and stop hating on it soon.
Honestly what's more immature, openly saying you enjoy the show or hiding behind anonymity and taking stabs at something you don't like because you can?
If this was featured on EQD, I'm sure it would be a lot more positive, thanks for your support everypony. These are all just haters, I will find out where they came from soon, just gotta wait for Youtube to update my insight.
I'll remind you Setzer that this is YouTube we're talking about, possibly the most idiot dense community on the internet. If it were anywhere else, I'd be shocked and appauled at the responses, but it wasn't, so I'm not. You only have to skim the comments to realise what kind of people we're dealing with. Seriously, just ignore them all. As soon as people start saying things like 'all you pony*squee!*s' (which was said several times), you know these people are idiots, trolls or both, and that their opinion means nothing. Pick out the useful comments, don't even bother with the rest.
Also, if there's 1 thing nice about the cosmic panda transition in youtube it's that you can see people's youtube avatar's now and voila, trolls typically have their's set to the trollface.
The jerks that dissed your video like that are just un-self-secure wimps who don't think it's "manly" to watch a cartoon. They talk like they're bad-asses who get-it-on with a different girl every night, but in reality all they do is just get chewed out by their parents and teachers every day, get their butts handed to them on X-Box Live and on 4Chan, and spend most of their time on the internet looking at altered-porn-pictures and pranks-gone-wrong videos on youtube. So don't give a damn about what they say, ok?
Don't worry about it. People can suck sometimes, especially on the internet. If you were proud of your presentation, then that's all that matters. Don't let other people upset you. I honestly think you have major guts for presenting anything about My Little Pony in front of people. The people who post hateful things on the internet are just bored and want to piss people off. I can guarantee you're better than them. =]
Seriously, this is the saddest piece of *squee!* I've ever seen. If you thought you were going to make waves, shine some positive light on the show, or accomplish whatever unrealistic expectations you had going into this you've failed terribly. The only thing you've accomplished is to make MLP:FIM and its fans out to be pathetic, and for that I thank you. That being said, enjoy being known as "that guy who's obsessed with a kid's show." hurrayforvideogames 5 hours ago 2 Reply @hurrayforvideogames Well It convinced several people to watch the show and like it and 2 people to become obsessed too, so evidently my expectations were actually exceeded. setzertrancer 2 hours ago Well, although I have nothing against the people loving this show and am actually impressed that you had the balls to do an assignment on it, but I think this discrimination you are speaking of is entirely based on the ammount of importance you actually give to these haters. Not a fan of MLP, but I think most of these haters are just too stuck in their own little ideas to understand the difference, but there are a few fans of MLP who drag this too far, overall, even if awkward, nice essay. irregularzero 10 minutes ago @irregularzero Yes I am a bit over the top obsessed with the show. You would have to experience what I have to get it. Being part of the fandom is almost cult like. I know that sounds terrible, but at least it's not a harmful cult. We believe in Love and Freindship. As sappy as that is, most people these commenters for example believe in hate and intolerance. I think the show has a lot of very basic obvious morals that many people have forgotten.
Eh, there is a little bit of merit to why some people might be angry, but mostly I would just ignore them. The recurring theme with you, Setzertrancer, is that you try to bring your taste in a cartoon into a bigger-than-life issue that you want other people to invest their courtesy in (and by extension, to you). You saying that bronies are discriminated against is news to about everyone on the planet with a life outside the internet and downright offensive to people who actually are discriminated against. Otherwise, what did you expect? As I have said, most people - including many so-called loving and tolerating bronies, in case anyone feels excluded - are cruel, vacuous, and dangerous idiots.
First of all, I want to say congratulations to you for being able to come up on stage and be able to openly speak about a subject like this and making it something your community there is aware of. I also would like to congratulate you for making news on EqD - I think it is enough that something is made notable by the biggest pony fandom news site that it is an accomplishment to be proud to hold. No matter what idea is put on a table or set in front of an audience, there will always be one or some that will be unsatisfied by it and tear it down. Detractors shouldn't get in the way of your goals, abilities, or devotions. You made a very well-thought-out presentation and I think that you deserve more credit for what you're going to tackle with this project. I think the more others understand about our fandom and our community, the more we shall see positive growth and interest for it. I don't think you misrepresented anypony anywhere and made a favorable impression to our community and the open-minded. :derpe: The class was not bored, they were just unsure of how to react - you were too real for them and their brains exploded twice in ten seconds flat. What a shame.
Normally, I try to see things from other's points of view, but they used such language that is testament to a q rude fool. Ignore them. Shouting at their stupidity will only make things worse.
I believe I may have a bit of bad news. I failed to read this fine detail... Which I read as 'did post it'. Then I took it as fact without checking - something I thought I've long outgrown. I'm really, really sorry about that. I didn't mean to put you on a wild goose chase or anything malicious. Chalk this one up to another oversight of mine. I really have to read closely before I say the wrong thing. On the other hand, they did run an article recently on pony college presentations not too shortly. Maybe you could ask them to feature yours, given its relevance? Once again, I apologize for that - I still congratulate you on your ambition however.
I don't usually watch people's school presentations, mostly due to crowd reaction being nonexistent. I watched a couple minutes of yours, but I don't see the idea or the presentation as being something to hate. I think they're cool and represent that the show can inspire a lot of courage and tolerance in those that make the presentations. I commend the people that do them. As Lupr said, YouTube's general 'community' (more like cancerous cesspool) isn't a good place to draw encouragement from... ever. You should take their spiteful (possibly jealousy-induced) comments with a grain of salt. The good comments are still lovely to get, though.
Thanks standby, you did confuse me, but my wild goose chase only lasted 5 minutes. I have submitted this presentation 3 times and it has never been featured, I guess it just sucks too much.
Wow, I can't believe there is that much hate on a simple report. As if they don't have anything better to do. I liked the presentation. If someone would have done this in my school, I would have been entranced by the report. As for the haters, just ignore them. They will get bored at some point.
